- How to soul grind on rollerblades.
I'm not really sure what to recommend here actually so I'm just going to put what's in the video. I'm wearing Roces M12s, Rene has on Roces 5th Elements.
I bought them from Intuition Skate Shop.
www.intuitionskate.com/
There are a lot of great brands and shops.

Rene's super lucky. Not only did he get a free guitar, but he got a free rollerblading lesson and got to be in two Rob Scallon videos!

...your song "rollerblading" was freaking life changing.
First tapping on my guitar, now rollerblading. Rob Scallon is the best peer pressure.
Scrolling past yet another soul grind tutorial youtube feeds me then had to double take when I saw the name. So glad i'm seeing skating popping up more and more often in places I didn't expect.

The fact that he let his wife see what he learned, virtually, is so wholesome.
"I told you it's not useless! I won you a guitar with this!"

Please do more rollerblading videos. I love these so much. I know nothing about skating and these have given me the inspiration to look into picking this up as a hobby and I'd love to learn more.
This is so sick! Rene killed it!!!
yoo brandon up in here
@@timz85 Bladers unite! What up!
Man I wish I had this tutorial when I tried to learn how to soul grind. Best Guide I've seen!
I've been on and off since the 90's and I can do lots of different grinds, but my regular soul grind always felt wrong. Your advice about keeping your shoulders forward changed all of that. This old man just wanted to say thank you.
From the title I thought 'Soul Grind' was a genre
Sounds like some gory sub-genre of grindcore. Maybe people should make one where you are singing about f**king ghosts.
hahah now im imagining grindcore with soul vocals
That guitar teacher who can't help showing off lol
I bought aggressive skates right after that video went out after year of only conventional skating. It's so much fun!
Welcome to the game
Who needs guitar when you have ROLLER BLADES
ruclips.net/video/nmN82umOU7c/видео.html
Dude this is so good, please make more of these
ruclips.net/video/nmN82umOU7c/видео.html
I love that you made a whole video from that segment. It was so wholesome.
Finally! A rollerblading video!
You are such an enthusiastic teacher and learner, really shows here!

This helped me learn how to grind, i have struggled with ti for sooo long, i can do grabs and rotations fine, i have always been scared to grind
Would love a whole series from Rob about how to do different tricks.
roller
bladin
all my life
Kindgrind fullcab out was fire
I struggle with getting enough speed for all these tricks. Maybe I'm just old and slow. I used to do souls and royales a few unity grinds. Clear staircases w/360 . I was pretty good at Aggressive inline. Quarter pipes and half pipes weren't around much when I started. So I suck at vert type work. I recently picked this sport back up. I do love to skate, but all my old tricks are much harder than I remember, and skate parks are great but the large pyramids and ramps are killing me. Today I found a park with low ledges ,more flat ground and smoother easier to practice ramps. I had the time of my life. Now I can take the advice from this video to that park and hopefully get my groove back while actually improving my skills beyond what i was doing 20 years ago.
Trick skating is awesome. I'm a skateboarder but this stuff is pretty alien to me 😂
Same, kinda thinking about trying this out
FINALLY Rob got back to the roller blading! Every time I watch a guitar video I'm waiting for the skates.
I'm kidding. Love you, Rob.
He has instagram that is filled with blading clips. Check it out if you haven’t done yet.
This is fantastic..... by FAR the best beginner vid ive come across yet!
Im subscribing for sure!!!
Brilliant. All the way from Australia, thanks mate!
Just found out you skate and I've been around your channel for years. You are one of the coolest people ever!
Dude! I didn't know you skated too! You instantly just became the greatest RUclipsr ever! Also, I too am right footed! Love my Xsjados!
What is even cooler than you giving away a guitar is that you got someone into skating. Rollerblading has been a dying sport, so its great to see someone else getting out and spreading the word.
Now we need a Rob Roller Blade Channel
Id be down for more Rollerblading How To's
I didn't realise you're on inline skates! I got back into it during summer of 2020. Loving being back.
Been enjoying your vids lately!
idk why but seeing rob rollerblade is both satisfying and incredibly strange at the same time. strange in a good way though
you should make some roller blade edits
Yasssss
Please keep posting tutorials! We need this!
Really fun video! Im a skateboarder but I really enjoyed watching this. I also like your rollerblading clips on insta
Wow this was really well made. Great job dude.
I went out and gave this a shot today. I have followed a bunch of other tutorials but this was incredibly helpful. I only rarely ever felt locked in until today when I started putting my weight in my heel and my knee past the rail. I have a small note for other new skaters that might help and 2 questions for Rob or any other more advanced skaters.
When I started putting my front foot on, even with minimized shoulder movement I still got some unanticipated rotational momentum into the rail thus I added one more step. Instead of just picking up my front foot, I added another pickup step where I hold my non dominant foot up slightly ahead of my other foot. This helped solidify my weight in my heel and helped control my body so I don't turn when I put my other foot down on the rail later.
One question is why the soul? I think talented skaters spent a ton of time pointing their toes inward which is pretty challenging for me and maybe other new skaters. Just getting my front foot to the rail requires some new hip/knee/ankle flexibility. I see that stepping the back foot into a mizou could pull my dominant foot off as I open my shoulders thus I understand the soul over the mizou but what about the acid? I tried stepping into an acid stall and it seemed like I had 0 temptation to pivot in any direction being that having my toes facing outward was more natural/common.
My other question is do these rules change considerably for a ledge? The contact angle on a rail with my plates angled over the rail really helped me lock on, but on a ledge it seems that angle is impossible given the ledge is in the way. For the ledge should my skate be upright to match the 90 degree angle of the ledge's edge or still at an angle thus creating some negative space between my plates and the ledge?
Really grateful for this tutorial. You can rest assured that if you chose to put out any future skating content then I will be giving it a shot. While I appreciate what other's have put on youtube as far as tutorials, this teaching style seems both distinct and exceptionally useful.
best tips on RUclips so far. And i watched all the tutorials.
nobody mentioned the shoulders and i couldn't get why mizou is much better for me.
What about ankle rotation?
Just for that truthful intro, you sir have another like.
Awesome vid! Thanks a lot!
I literally jumped when I saw this video... it feels so good to see we are going back into the mainstream!!!
I had no idea you were a Blader!!! So sick.
rob makes aggressive inline skating look so fun and fluid. Reminds me of the ps2 game "aggressive inline"
JET SET RADIOOOOOOOOOOO
It would be super cool to see more rollerblading videos around here :)
I love you, Rob
In 32. I use to skate aggressive as a teenager and recently bought a pair. Let's say it didn't turn out so well.
Thanks this was helpful
Jet Set Radiooooooo!!!

Would totally be down for a rollerblading channel / series
looks like fun...Rene was awesome
I'm here thanks to Brandon Drummond! With that said I'm ready to binge, I'm back on blades after 20 years but I've never put my bass down!
You need a skating channel now.
Omg yassss
The temptation is real... Now if only this sun allergy would go away, that'd be great 😂😅
Great tutorial!! I’m new to this channel and to aggressive skating. I’m really interested in the rail that he has. Is that DIY? Where can I get one? Looks perfect for practice.
Rob please make more tutorial rollerblade videos

More of this. I need to know what kind of skates those are? I want speed skates but don’t want to buy a crap pair.
Omg yessssss
Mans rocking it with only two wheels
OMG I thought it was Acousta Blades video and then i noticed that it was made by Rob Scallon.

Ngl I kind wanna start rollerblading because of this
It’s fun and really cheap. Professional blading is like 4 times cheaper than professional running. Hope you will join the community soon.
Are those Roces 5th Element?
And suddenly it's 1999.
Rob Scallon3 rollerblading channel
Wiiiiiiii
Ok.... Now do a skitchin tutorial.
Where's Arlo Eisenberg? 👀
when he called his wife i cried
You got graffiti soul!
this was a lot easier in sonic adventure 2...
I might buy a pair of soap shoes…
So, um, this is not about grindcore?
May Fruitbooting never die.
You would be a fruit booter
Bloody fruit booters!
I thought only bass players Rolla bladed ?
Step 1: put them in the trash
Step 2: learn skateboarding
Stop being stuck in 90’s or otherwise fruitbooter/stick flipper terms will make a comeback.
