    My favorite example is Jordan Mailata, not only did he not play college football, he had never played football before the NFL

    I feel so bad for Banks, it’s so infuriating that false accusers don’t get punished equally and sent to jail ruining others lives. I’m glad he at least got an opportunity later on. This is an awesome video

      yup. that’s why the “always believe the victim” shit is stupid because it goes against the “innocent until proven guilty” bs the justice system spews. its more guilty until proven innocent. thats why it takes so long for people to get trials which goes against the constitution of a “quick and soeedy trial”

      The problem is, if false accusers were hit with the harsh punishments they might deserve, they would never admit it, and Brian Banks could still be in prison.

    I was thinking the #1 guy would be Night Train, but apparently he played 1 year of junior college football, so I guess he missed that criteria. But his story IS the definitive example of a walk on to an NFL roster. And even today is the best Cornerback to ever play the game.

      I'm pretty sure if a modern NFL referee saw a single clip of Night Train Lane hitting a receiver they would explode into a cloud of yellow flags

    btw Joe Horn, as a Saints fan, his story is so amazing and hes one of my favorite players and in fact one of the best Saints players ever in our franchise. dude was a fkin TRUCK driver and honestly he should be inducted into the hall of fame for his story, what he gave us, and his stats being way, way above average. he gave us so much hope and lead us into the drew brees and marques colson era and he was such a special platyer and personality. a bit of a diva but nothing like keyshon johnson or terrel owens.

    A deep dive into the players who didn’t play football until late like Antonio gates with playing bball in college or other players who thought they were so good they could wait 3 years. Idk how to describe those typa players but it would be neat to see from u

      He was going to do both football and basketball at Michigan State, but either Izzo or Saban wouldn't let him. Then, you transferred to Eastern Michigan and played basketball in 2000 and was going to do both football and basketball for the 2000-2001 school year, but they let the basketball coach go at the end of the 99-2000 basketball season.

      @@MrLSDownliner I was at Eastern Michigan when he was there in January and actually met him because we are both Varsity athletes at the same time. If the basketball coach wouldn't have gotten canned at Eastern Michigan, he would have never ended up at can't read can't write Kent State.

    The 1990's Miami Dolphins also had a guy #33 (Bernie Parmalee) who was a UPS truck driver. He too was a Pro Bowler. That guy was really good man...Amazing stories here...

      The non-success of (at least) international rugby players going for nfl positions is possibly down to being a "superstar rugby man" on the backend of rugby career to a "nobody with potential" vying for attention against younger athletes. Mailata was different, he was never a rugby star, never had a rugby career. He had nothing to lose and everything to gain by putting in some hard work.

    The announcer who made the University of Mars comment was Alex Karras, who was part of the Monday Night Football crew after his playing career ended. He was also Mongo in Blazing Saddles.

    I was lucky enough to meet Michael Lewis and Mike McKenzie after a golf tournament in MS. Mr. Lewis is probably one of the funniest men I've ever met. Super nice guy. Same with Mike McKenzie. Everyone else in my store was too intimidated to talk to them and I just shot the shit with both of them for the half hour they were there.
    The legend about Michael Lewis is that the coaching staff was trying to get Haslett to leave his office to watch Lewis do some timed 40s. They didn't have any cleats in his size, so he was doing them barefoot on the Saints' practice field. He supposedly ran a 4.28 while Haslett watched from his office and Haslett brought him up and offered him a roster spot immediately.
