I bought one. It's a neat machine. It seems better for ambient pads or synthy stuff to me. It's a digital Trem pedal with outrageous control of spacing and wave shaping. If it was full MIDI it would be even more cool. I'm wondering if they will revisit the rotary pedal that Boss made for the "20 series". That thing sounds great. They did the Space Echo and Slicer so far..
I bought this recently, and it is genuinely one of the most unique pedals out there. I'd put it in the same category as the Attack-Decay, and it's perfect for experimental/techo music. I'm eager to try it with something like the Mini Glitch or the CSIDMAN.
Hello 👋🏻 from Kelowna, B.C. Canada 🇨🇦 I love the channel, the humour and all the super geek🤓outs on gear 😊 Congratulations to You and the team as well on the Lizard 🦎 Queen pedal it sounds amazing and I will definitely get a Nano version. Josh you really like this Slicer thing 🤭. I can clearly see it on your face. Just that alone was fun! 🙂😄 I’ve gotta own one of these! I’d love to mess around with that ! But until then , can you do a longer more in depth review of this. ( I wonder what it sounds like before / after a rotary speaker simulator? And with a bass and other instruments as well, clean and also with distortion ). Is the older big unit better/ more versatile etc. or did they figure out a way to do it all in the standard BOSS size pedal case? 🤔 I am really liking it as well. Somehow I missed this one until just now. I did know of it’s existence but had never heard what it does sound wise. Thanks for the Demo as well as the cheeky grin 😊made me laugh and feel good just watching ! 😄. I’m a total guitar and guitar gear nut 🤪 as well. It truly gives me those little moments of happiness and something to always be very interested in all the time. I think this pedal somehow made you 5 years younger in seconds! 😮 I had better get one soon … I turn 52 next month ! I’d like to be about 25 again, so I can play this pedal but just not too much! 🙂 I think it must be the Steve Austin- 6 million dollar man “Bionic“ type of sounds this rig generates 😄 ( only $6mill.? , why in the hell does that not sound like nearly enough $ to build a bionic man now days ? !)
If you need a pedal that kinda does that and a whole other things and probably is way cheaper than that, get a Digitech Turbo Flange. The only thing I didn't quite like about it was the subtle volume drop when it's on, but other than that, perfect pedal, if you just wanna have one modulation pedal to spicy things up (it can do chorus, flange, phaser type of sounds, and those rhythmic tremolo things, plus some fake autofilter stuff, it's really amazing, great for emulating leslie as well)
When Rick biato's band billionaire came to the Red Lion pub in Augusta, I was there and their guitar player had this weird slicy sound going on and I was trying to figure out. Just what the hell was this cool effect he was using... I think I remember Rick. Just kind of almost laughing at me because of the expression on my face.
JHS Make a TREMULENT pedal. Not a Leslie or Ventilator, but study the AM/FM animation of a Wurlitzer theater pipe organ's Tremulent. Also cool is Wurlitzer's 1964- 1971 4520, 4500, 4300 organs SpectraTone with offset disc on the axle that intercepts an LDR/ Lightbulb VCA control for the 2-12" bass speakers. Low frequencies are non directional, so oscillating volume of bass in sync with crossover'd high mids and highs from the physically spinning 4" speakers makes an excellent theater tremulent, when Vibrato is added. Look up Wurlitzer Total Tone 4300 Organ Brochure. The great 4300 is the spinet version of the 4520 and 4500 Wurlitzer discrete transistor full solid state electronic theater AND MORE organs. A tone head's dream, Along with the Lowrey DSO/DSO1 (see Rory More).
Speaking of the 20 series boss pedals, i have a dd-20 giga delay and its almost never talked about, but it does just about everything, and im currently in the market for a chorus pedal and im thinking i might try to find the ce-20 double chorus pedal because just like the delay pedal it does everything chorus
I haven't had much of a chance to mess with mine yet. I was using open back headphones and hearing pick attack when you're running it through a ring modulator and bit crusher ruins the effect. I'll try it again soon with different headphones.
How is that different in concept to Roger Linn’s Adrenalinn? The Linndrum guy. A zombie preset version of which (still fun, though) was in the M-Audio BlackBox guitar sim and interface from about 2003-6, which I have somewhere. A genuine question, and not a diss. I’m just seeing a lot of people saying it’s unique but from what I’ve seen, it’s very similar to that older box from the early (?) 90s and software that came later. Is it different? The Adrenalinn was a great effect but unless you wanted rhythmic slicing and filtering on everything it had a ceiling of use and it wasn’t cheap. If this Boss pedal is a kind of reboot, I’ll be chuffed. I really liked the Adrenalinn (there was one at a studio I worked for) but again, I didn’t want to put it on more than one or two songs on an album and only if I wanted that sort of sound.
I am confused why boss has never made a high end multi effect pedal filled with their higher end analog pedals. Sure they have digital multi effects and they have some high end analog effects like the big analog delay pedal, but for instance, what about a single large metal enclosure pedal with all the waza craft pedals in it? Using foot switches rather than latches. With hand painted Japanese art on it or something. Kind of like those custom multi effects from Jam pedals. Or if that’s too extreme, maybe just a few of the most iconic ones. I love boss pedals but honestly I think they are extremely ugly and clash with every other type of pedal on the market except for those 9 series Ibanez pedals. I’d pay a premium to not have to rehouse all my boss pedals.
This has always been one of those pedals with so many options yet too daunting to explore for those not faint of heart.
Ahh right? I always see pedals like this and want to love them, but then go back to my single knob pedals with an eq switch.
It's not really. Have a song , then think about effects inside of that song.
It reminds me of a BigSeq2.
My search is over. I have been looking high and low for good pedal boxes to spin. Thank you, JHS.
“It will not break!” “It broke..”

AN RT-2 would be awesome.
I think the rotary is in the MD 200 and 500
@@FelixHureau So is the Slicer. Doesn't stop us from enjoying the SL-2.
@@illegal_space_alien the sl 2 is its own thing, there are plenty rotary pedals available
Vocals?

That is what beck hears all the time.
Instant Boards of Canada
I think with the RIGHT riff, that pedal could sound epic
Somehow I've never seen the point of the Slicer, but a lid for every pot, I suppose 🤣🤣🤣
It's not for guitarists. It's for the techno synth guys that don't want to dial a bunch of oscillators.
Jingle: “He spins the box”
This is a pedal that I would buy, and then only use on exactly three songs, but it MAKES the three songs.
The Boss Katana tone studio software has a pretty fun Slicer emulation
Josh gives you all the good information like how the box spins. Keep it up, the people need to know!
I can't vouch for the spin, but I dropped a rolling paper and caught it before it hit the ground while watching this video. If that's worth anything.
I would argue that this pedal is actually very easy to describe
love this for mixes and synths
Please do a 20 series video!
Sounds like the old Casio or Yamaha keyboard banjo setting sound….killer
Remember the Wurlitzer Funmaker organs with the banjo setting? This is like that, but more.
He spun the box
Wurds is hard
I got goosebumps at the end.
Its like a tremolo and a square wave had babies
This is why THC isn’t legal everywhere. Guys just playing with pedals all day.
Well, this is one I won’t have to rush out & buy.
One example of use: Disco Ensemble - Second Soul
You can actually describe it ! Honestly, you could.
It’s really great with bass too
I like it mixed with other effects.
Band of Horses vibe...like the things and sounds in the background of "No One's Gonna love You"
The Cusack Tap A Whirl is pretty close to this and came out many heard ago
It reminds me of the Vox Repeat Percussion V809.

It's like a killswitch
Somebody seems a little stoned.😂
Heavy duty tremolo
Sounds like the “Repeat Percussion” effect on the old Vox Super Beatle amps.

HEALTH uses the shit out of the slicer pedal.
Avery sharp tremolo
Auto Gate Trem
Josh: i know you love boss, so can you get pn-2 type stereo tremelo sounds out of this?
basically like a lfo gate

Perfect for what Trey does, gonna get me one someday soon will report back
Reminds me of a Gristleizer.
Omg I want one
Do spin the Box Clockwise or Counter Clockwise.....Do you recommend any particular of table wax for this hobby?
Pretty sure they used this pedal on the Dosage album by Collective Soul
Million Dollar Man pedal…
Dreams - The Cranberries...
The intro i think they use Slicer.. so much pleasing to listen.
Reminds me of the dual Tremolo mode on the Flower Pedals Dandelion
the bionic man!
Stevie Austin! 😅
I want it
I need it
Looks like I’ll need to build a bigger Bass Board… 😯😯😯
I wonder what crazy tones you could get combining this with a POG2.

i want the big one
In the DAW world we'd call this a gate.
Noice!
drone was the word u looking for
its the exact opposite of anything drone
$6Million Man, Bionic Woman, He-Man, She-Ra, for the super power scenes. Anthrax for the song “Black Lodge” on the intro.
they added that to the katana mkII.

slicer
Tremolo with too much tremolo 😅😅 I thought it would be good, got it and it sucks 😢😢
I’ve heard it use to great effect, still might not be for you
It seemed obvious how useless and bad this pedal is, I’m genuinely surprised to see it getting a push by JHS
I wanna hear it with some distortion
You should hear Chinese Democracy to learn how to use a slicer
one of the pedal that i will not use😅
sounds like terraria
How stoned is he.
Can you make a Wah pedal thats connected to the mid sweep of a metal zone
Its just a expansion on a tremolo. It's pretty simple to explain.
Thanks for the seizure josh!!!!
It sounds like it’s busted
Need to develop pedal that does EDM sounds
Rhythmic trem?

maybe you could pretend you were alive then lay down and pretend you were dead , then be alive again huh huh???
Can anyone name a hit song or two that uses this effect?
Can this sound be achieved with a tremolo? 🤔
It slices, it dices, but is it dishwasher safe?
Does this one have function where you can make you're own patterns?
yeah? no
Why at tremolo?
what guitar is being used?
Please stop bragging on pedals that I want. I'm going to be broke...😅😅
sorry the first slicer sucked and now this has to suck to
I wish this guy would learn how to play guitar...
Nope
Boss = tone suck
There’s another useless pedal
Not a fan of that effect at all tbh
I’m sure it could be used in many interesting ways but uh, you’re not really using it like that in this video brahbrah. Lay off the weed 😂
Sorta useless sounding to me
It's easy to describe this pedal: another useless junk from Boss.
Don't buy JHS pedals they break in less than a year , junk switches you've been warned !
