In the defences of auto makers today, taking the new shelby gt 500 for example, no human can shift faster or more efficiently than the dual clutch auto system provided. Whereas I agree, there is nothing more satisfying than smashing gears by yourself ford set out to build the best performance car possible. And that meant taking the human error out of it.
Music to my ears ... the pure roar of a GT40. Gets me going... I would love to see the revs this baby can do. There's just no competition here. Love it.
Get up over 100 and that windshield wiper looks like it's hanging on for dear life Such an awesome car, I'd have one in a heartbeat Just have to figure out the minor details like being able to afford it
Lol, I have driven the f3000 cars at Yaz Marina a couple times and the speedos were disabled because people thought they were faster than they really were so they complained!🏎
It's marvelous to see the view that drivers Jacky Ickx and Brian Redman had when they co-drove a GT40 to victory at the Spa 1K race back in 1968; beating the newest Porsche 908 prototypes in that race. But, that was also back in the old race course configuration of 14 Kilometers/8.8 miles length.
7,000 RPM, that's where you meet it. You feel it coming. It creeps up near you, and it asks you a question, the only question that really matters...Who are you?
@@alexrosario7661 Yes, kind. Smooth is kind, consistent, without over-revving. That doesn't mean you can't use full throttle, but you've got to know when, where and how to do it.
I hope he get some more testing under his belt. Looks like both he and car could use some sorting out. Thanks for letting us ride along. Always fun to see these legendary cars being put through their paces.👍👍👍
GT40 is my favorite car of it's type. But at Spa, at a vintage race, I would really like to be on-board a different car with a Dan Gurney connection. The Gurney/Weslake Eagle Mk1 chassis 104. Most beautiful car to ever race in F1.
NASCAR muscle in a sports car was a beautiful thing. Those Southerners knew how to make an engine roar and my Dad got to experience it as an engine man from California for two years, '69 and '70, building Camaro engines for Pete Hamilton at Gene White Firestone in Atlanta in '69 and Mustang engines at Bud Moore Engineering in Spartanburg, South Carolina in '70, the year of those orange-and-black Boss 302 Mustangs driven by Parnelli Jones and George Follmer.
Nothing like the torque from American V8. Had a 69 Firebird 400 back in the day. Will never forget the temporary blindness from 2nd gear downshift and full power g force for the first time . I was fortunate to have survived that car, lol.

The Ford GT40 will always be my favorite car of all time.... It would be a dream to drive my own custom Ford GT.... With a custom engine and body.... Four speed sequential.... Slicks.... Speeding down a track at 168 MPH.... Taking turns and racing on the line.... It would be a dream come true....
WOW, I didn't know that while you are on the second gear , if you brake a little the car and transmission would allow you go down to 1st gear again while the car is running. amazing.
I believe Holman and Moody are still selling these beauties as originals, although I heard they are almost out of the original chassis built by Abbey Panels back in the day. $1 million for an original, 500k for a replica.
That thing puts out an impressive amount of power at zero RPM
Lmao it took me like five minutes to figure out that this is a joke
did it break?
New technology
American muscle. Imagine if he'd turned the car on.
Amazing fuel economy for a 7 liter
Buttocks-clenching moment at 2:19
That's what I was gonna say
lmao this is why I looked at the comments
I'm glad it wasn't just me that felt that!!
JESUS H...!
honestly, that was a careless move on the driver's part.
He’s nuts for that crazy overtake, that’s how these cars were built to be driven though. Driven to the limit
One would think that the rest of the cars out there would have been warned that a GT40 would be in the mix and to just get the hell out of the way.
Pretty sure they were.
That's what blue flags/lights are for.
You'd be astonished of the amount of fucking idiots on a race track.

2:20 what a close call

Peed a little
Epic
The GT40 and the Lola T70 are my dream drives, unfortunately when you see them driven quickly they both look like they are intent on killing you.
That’s the fun in them
Thats why it's important to build up to these cars. Plenty of people on track days being murdered by much slower cars due to lack of driving skill.
Boa noite meu Amigo.
Cara, fiquei com a mesma sensação.
Rsrsrsrs......

I have them both and yes they are intent on killing you😂
The Ford is strong in this one.

Heel n toe, a forgotten art of control
Great onboard camera angle U can see his footwork and his overall driving skill. Outstanding wheelman.
