      It’s H A R D. Lots of Nepo kids racing with dad’s money or fame.
      First, you have to be top 3-5 in a series to have the best chance to secure a sponsor. It’s very difficult. Most companies look at you and think “you want ME to pay for YOUR hobby?”
      It can be done. It’s just very difficult.

    • @mwmcbroom
      @mwmcbroom 5 лет назад +2

      He sez it's a small block Ford -- so probably a 302? I'm thinking the 170mph is due to the gear ratio he's running, more than any sort of limit imposed by the engine. Ford won at Le Mans in 1968 and 1969 with 302 motors. It was the same car, in fact, that won both races.

    • @mwmcbroom
      @mwmcbroom 5 лет назад

    Nice car, nice work. But. I clicked. On this to see a Le Mans era GT40 at full tilt on ANYTHING. I would t care if it was an airport runway, and I wouldn’t care if it was on that massive oval in Italy. It’s about the crazy sounds, the twitching, crashing sounds constantly, harmonics of body panels oscillating variably with speed, the sheer terror and audacity to have driven one of these things, under those conditions, with those tires, and that fuel, and those helmets, and the same gearing, cam, compression, trans gear spread, the works. On any road at all, but flat out. That’s an experience that would bring some guys like me to tears. But ‘‘twas not to be. A Superpeformance version is still indeed a badass car, and rare, every little difference in suspension bushing, spring rate, engine characteristics, insulation, and other refinements meant to make the thing streetable are the exact things that take away the visceral part of life. Easy no brained example. I used to have a 1968 Country Squire. 390 engine. It was heavy but it was slow. Actually it did 0-60 in 7.2 seconds so not bad for 4500 lbs of honest to god grocery getter. Giant front discs and big drums, wagon spec. The fuel gauge didn’t work, even after I fixed it several times. Exhaust leaks from manifold even after fixing those. One of em twice. Tailgate glass was unreliable. Under dash AC worked, barely. No headliner but the rest of the interior was in very good shape, save for the driver’s butt. It could be a pain in the ass. But my ex and I went on our honeymoon in that wagon. I could tow a boat with that wagon. Girls would lay on the hood for album covers pictures. It was huge. It did everything but did it with character, like it or not. Now I have a Dodge Magnum. It does everything the Squire did, but much better. Faster. Rides better. Everything. But I miss the Squire all the time. Now where’s my flat out lap in a real GT40? You know, the one that I paid for?
