    Red or white wine vs
    sulfates was the last question
I asked myself in the liquor store the night before I walked into perry street to get sober in the West Village 39+ years ago!

Lost my taste for alcoholic beverages after a month keto which baffles the hell out of me because I was that guy who had to have a glass or two of wine daily. Beer every weekend that I wasn’t working. Been a year and still don’t want it but my wife still keeps wine and beer around for guest or whenever she wants a drink. Thanks Doc

I'm on keto for 8 months plus IF I drink occasionally red wine, nothing happens. Don't worry, don't go so crazy and strict about keto.

      T. I. N Mateus eh depends on the person and purpose of keto.. if you’re on keto just for weight loss, have at it.
Many do keto for health issues. 2 glasses bring my facial spasms, joint pain and brain fog back the next day and force me to long sauna session and extra exercise

I drink a glass every now and then. Has under 3g of carbs. I find if you don't let a little loose (especially when socialising), you might as well not be living. I do keto when at home and the two or three occasions I go out per month I'll have a glass of wine and eat food from the menu while avoiding the carbs.

I haven't had alcohol in 20 months. I was never much of a drinker (one or two glasses of wine a month), but I decided my liver needed the break while treating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I may decide to have an occasional glass of wine after I reach my target weight-I haven't had an A1c over 5.3 for 18 months, and it usually comes up around 5.0 or 5.1.

my guess before i listen is RED..don''t know why..?...WELL, now that I have heard your whole story...won't say if I got it right LOL...but Great to know! why my nose gets stuffy after half a glass of red wine which i rarely drink anyway. Thanks Dr. Berg. Perhaps in another video you can address the point that red wine is "supposed" to be good for the heart/cardiovascular system..as per Scandinavian studies, that correlated drinking red wine with a meal over several years resulted in significant decrease in heart attacks, etc THANKS AGAIN for ALL your great info. Aloha from Hawaii.

    • @mache3984
      @mache3984 4 года назад +5

He said that sulfites are added as a preservative. Wine already has alcohol which is the reason people consume it. Why and how would it turn into alcohol if it's already is alcohol? He's simply saying that the preservative (sulfites) keeps the alcohol (wine) from turning into vinegar which happens over a period of time (particularly) after wine has been opened.

I think the Sulfites that are added in addition are or can be an even bigger problem. And additional doses of sulfites are regulated by individual countries governments. I am allergic to sulfites, hence the solution is simple.

Non alcoholic whines should be super healthy, and they should be super simple to make in that you just ferment them with yeast aerobically. Give the bottle a shake from time to time, open the lid to refresh the air at the top.

The main source of headaches with wine is due to methanol. Ethanol is bad, but methanol, although less toxic than ethanol before liver processing, is far worse when processed by the liver for ellimination, becoming formaldehyde and formic acid. The liver prioritizes ethanol, and won't start working on the methanol until the ethanol processing is complete. This is the reason the headache happens next day. The popular wisdom of having a hard drink the next day to relieve the hangover is true and it works, by giving the liver new ethanol so that it stops processing methanol, giving you a temporary respite from formaldehyde and formic acid poisoning.
The thing that angers me is how easily winemakers could get rid of methanol, but don't do it. Methanol is produced by the same yeast when it digests pectin instead of glucose. All you have to do is put a tablespoon of pectinase enzyme to your must 24 hrs before you add the yeast. Pectinase converts pectin to glucose, so you can have wine that has pure ethanol and no methanol, like vodka. No hangover, no headache. But there's a whole conspiracy of misinformation out there, deliberately distracting us from the real issues, and blaming sulfites instead. I'm not saying sulfites can't give you a headache; but methanol is the elephant in the room, and this is known in the alcohol industry, and actively suppressed, not sure why exactly.

    alcohol is prohibited.
so we have to stay away from such a thing
    ❤❤❤
it's also can be addictive, even in small level.
and we, in keto learn to have self control, and we have stay away of all the things that can break it
