This is a great video topic for a game with such a diverse fighter list. Some people struggle with their main because they chose a character they liked, but not a playstyle that fits them
You're entirely right! For some fighters it is hard to categorize them as a singular archetype and can be considered mixed or outside of the archetype altogether, with different playstyles in mind.
@@showmeyourmoves8551 That doesn't make him a grappler. A grappler is a character that focuses their game-plan about getting grabs ness is someone with a powerful grab at high percents but before that he's just playing neutral like every other character. In fact his grab is actually quite bad before high percents.
I think Luigi should also be in the pressure section. He’s good at playing passive-aggressive, has a 0-death and great combos, and is really strong, but his weakness is that his disadvantage state is terrible and can easily die from a hit offstage
Iv been a day 1 inkling and to this day still main inkling. Iv been wanting inkling in smash for the longest time and when I saw inkling was revealed when we still didn’t know anything about smash ultimate I knew who I was gonna main and stick with till the end of time.
I would put Ridley as a mid range more than a grappler even though he has spr. While there is an emphasis on conditioning in his gameplan so that he can cash out big when in advantage, I would argue that it is more important to focus on careful spacing with his giant hit boxes and snuffing out aerial approcaches with nair then dominate with ledge trapping and edge guarding (depending on the match up)
I'd say there's a big difference between someone like Wario, who's quite quick and has good combos, and someone like Gannondorf, who relies on hard reads and shield pressure, and has basically no combos.
Mii Brawler is a rushdown character, with a terrible weakness to swordies and other disjoints. They have lots of cool combos to learn, and also a lot of cheese. Mii Gunner is about as zoner as you can get. Missiles, Grenades, Bomb Drop, Charge Shot. They have so many projectiles to keep people out, and have a hard time up close due to their poor out of shield options.
I believe this did help me I’ve been a ness/Lucas main but with all these characters I’ve played they were all fun, but I started feeling like I can’t main ness/Lucas anymore maybe choose a different character. Have been leaning towards shulk because I feel like I almost can master the mondo but I don’t know.
How would you catagorize king dedede? I have pretty significant success with him, so I'd want to try characters that function similarly. I've heard him described as a fat swordie, which doesn't really line up with any other characters in this game. Also, the bit about G&W having poor defenses just isn't true. He escapes from shield basically for free, has a godlike recovery, and is loaded with projectiles and disjoints in his normals, letting him hit opponents in siruations where they can't hit him. If he was any heavier, he'd be immortal.
I feel that Steve is more a gimmick trapper. He's able to do one of about a hundred different things at any moment(if he has materials), mix up approaches and landings with blocks, anvil, and tnt, which can also be used to set up some nasty kills or make your opponent explode for going for something. Minecart's just a roaming pitfall if Steve gets out of it, and a sweeping hitbox good for covering landings in general. You see him running away a lot because like 80% of his kit costs materials in some way or another.
I came here after maining Samus. I had always played her and all the various different smash games. Im a big fan of the Rushdown archetype. I love getting into my opponents face and always trying to beat them up. Thats why I use fox. I also like the all around category, so in that case, I use yoshi because I love mashing buttons with yoshi.
0:56 Good choices except for Yoshi which I think would be less of an Al round character and more of a close range brawler since he excels in being close to the opponent and hiting them especially when edgeguarding
What archetype is banjo and kazooie? Can I have in-depth details on why they fall into said category including the most optimal play style that should be played but most banjo mains don’t . I would humbly appreciate it.
Banjo isn't very good overall. He works best if you are ok with playing rather slowly and forcing your opponent to come to you. Keeping your opponent out with grenade and Kazooie blaster until they start over-committing to their options is your best bet. Side B can kill early, but it isn't something you can just spam as it is slow and you only have 5 uses per stock. Finding an opening by pressuring your opponent with projectiles is really your only good option to close out stocks. In the end, unless you want to win tournaments, play however you want. But in order to succeed you will have to get a bit campy and annoy your opponent into making mistakes.
Wolf is in no way a heavy, he fits much better as an all rounder with small disjoints, good combos, and a good projectile. His only real weakness is his recovery. But even that isn't a huge weakness.
