I’ve been playing Kirby as a solo main for almost eight years now, and still I feel like there’s so much creative potential I haven’t even begun to touch.
As an obvious Kirby main, this video does a pretty great job at detailing how the puffball's current moveset can be used. I'm sure people will find this extremely handy. Nice work!
@@NoLifeDax Man, that sounds rough. So sorry you have to go through with all that. Don't listen to what others say to you, just play the character you want to play!
Excellent video as always! I'd truly love to see an "art of inhale" follow up video, where you explore how to use copy abilities with Kirby. Complex ones like monado arts, Duck Hunt's can, the bonus fruit, charge shot, etc. Hope you're well :)
Excellent guide; there are a few tricks I want to add to my competitive Kirby! As a Kirby main, you must optimize your combos, advantage state, and neutral since it can be hard to approach certain mus. Anyway, looking forward to part 2 and hope my clips show up! Some more basic tips: 1. Final Cutter is best used as an anti air mix up. Don't spam of course. You can also cheese with its spike at ledge. 2. Practice copy combos and platform combos; you'll need them! 3. Back throw can kill near ledge, so go for it instead of up throw in those situations.
Great guide as always. As a kirby main i'm happy to see such an accurate guide. It took me a lot of vods to watch and learn all of these kinda wish this came up when i first picked up the character.. Anyways! Great work as always, izaw!
I've been watching since the Smash 4 Art Of Kirby. It's pretty surreal to contribute to the Ultimate version, thanks a bunch for the opportunity, Izaw! (◕‿◕✿)
I'd like to add. Fair 1 has two ways it can launch depending on which part of the hitbox you get. Meaning hitting the tip of kirby's shoe wil ALWAYS pop in front making fair 1 into fsmash true even at high percents. Now if you hit with the part of the shoe the closest to kirby's body will launch away from kirby making it kinda harder to como at higher percents. As for the command grab, it also depends on how fast the opponent mashes. Usually as izaw said you want to use it as your tomahawk grab (mainly since kirby is floaty it can take a while and can be easily punished if he tries thawk grab and also inhale sends straight forward with a slight pop upwards) so don't take long before pressing a or b button and also at 0 percent.. Unless they don't mash, it's pretty hard to get anything guaranted so don't take long to press a button and exhale. Backair i might want to add that you have to land and space that move for it to be safe and combo it's actually tricky at first but it sure is as good as izaw says. And lastly, regarding up b, it is one of kirby's best anti air options. Mainly because of it's range and kirby lacking in mobility the mobility to make it up ther for full hops in time, it's pretty solid and it's disjointed so it allows you to contest some characters without disjoints and you can make it safe or harder to punish by drifting backwards it also kills at very high percents if you drag an opponent into the upper platform in battlefield. It is also worth mentioning that while recovering even while mixing up going high ALWAYS go back to the ledge. never land on stage as the endlag is brutal and you will die (izaw did it but not sure if he specifically mentioned it). Seriously the amount of kirby players online who land on stage while recovering is unbeliveable.
@@Eldoofus nah man. You clearly don't play kirby. There's no reason to land onstage (while recovering from offstage ) with upb the end lag is tremendous i've ko'd few enough kirby's who don't land at the ledge (where you are safe, where you get invincibility frames) lol
@@jorgeabaezp9365 I'm not saying that's not true, but if you can land a clean hit on your opponent, who is already prepared to ledge guard since he expects you to drift back to ledge, it could turn out even better than just going for the ledge itself. This is most important to do if you were knocked away and know you won't get ledge invincibility, you don't want to be a sitting duck in a game like Smash, and opening yourself to easy reads is never a good thing. Anyways, it's a Risk vs. Reward scenario, something you shouldn't even think about exploiting because it will backfire as badly as it did with those Kirbies who fell against you.
Incredible. I've never seen a single video that so comprehensively covers kirby's gameplan. Going to be referencing this one to try to incorporate the stuff I've neglected.
just a few more tips, final cutter can set up tech situations at high percents inhale and dair are both great for catching teleportation and tether recoveries. Out of inhale release, instead of footstool, you can go for Bair. Starting it instantly prevents you from being footstooled. You'll usually want to go for jump bair, as most opponents jump out of release. Some characters are not worth trying anything on out of inhale release.
Great Video! BTW the 3 kirby charakter are very underrepresentative! I hope for an "Art of Metaknight", there are some ladder guides but no videos about general movset, tech chase, follow ups or kill confirms in detail
This is a great video! I just learned about combining up-air into a up-tilt so I appreciate this video! One thing that you should have mentioned was usage of the aerial version of hammer. When the hammer isn't fully charged yet, it swings two times in the air, but when it is fully charged, it only swings once.
I use Kirby as a secondary and one of my favorite things to do at low percentage is use the classic fthrow fair to create a tech chase and run up and down tilt to see if I can get a trip do various things. At mid to high percentage I simply use fthrow up b to force them in a awkward position, especially at ledge. Depending on their habits I run up and up smash, fair, dash attack. Whatever punishes best. Olimars ability is the best imo.
Lovely. I'm a proud Kirby main and while I'm happy I know some of these moves and techniques (Art of Kirby Smash 4, baybee lol), this guide is sure to improve my skills even more so. Probably a LOT more so! Thanks IzawSmash!
Me a few years back would’ve loved this video, as I haven’t played smash in a year or two but was a Kirby main back when I did. My biggest gripe with the character is his lower range but I really like the low percent combo potential
Hello izaw, nice video as always and well explained. Can I request an art of king k rool sometime in the future? I think you need to shine more light on low to mid tier characters.
I'm upset he doesn't talk about falling uair Crossing it up on shield is great, and if you land it, it sends at an amazing angle to combo at lower percents.
Coming back to smash since terry came out and since the art of diddy kong im impress that your doing the guide of all of the character in the game which is dedicated and appreciate since you gotta do all of the studies but you can visually see them while being explain making it very alive and welcoming which I have to say as a smash 4 veteran which I'm proud to say some of the things you taught was from you and thank you. Even the danishbuttercookies 1v1s in the past which I really love. Off topic just thank you. 👏🏾
Since I mostly play Kirby for fun it never crossed my mind that his up tilt extensions had to be spaced to hit the middle of the weak hitbox, guess I need to polish him a bit.
I've always had fun playing Kirby. Kirby has the combos, fast frame data, and being small for that matter. Being small has been a great feature for some characters such as G&W, Pikachu, and Olimar. Those characters do well in tournaments and are played a lot. I think Steve can also be categorized with being small, which makes Steve a strong character in the current meta
I feel like its more important to actually enjoy playing your main then playing only the top teirs at all cost. (From a Jigglypuff/kirby main so very biased lol)
Finally an Art of Kirby!! Theres so much more kirby can do with ALL the copy abilities from everyone in Smash! Hmm I wish someone could make a montage of Kirby using all these copy abilities 🤔
Overall, great video, having great explanation on the char, just a few things 19:59 this doesn't happen on PS2, since its platforms are a tiny bit higher, so fthrow to fair still works also at higher %s you can do fthrow to up b as a mixup (which in my experience depends on opps DI, but still can catch some off guard)
IzawSmash, do you plan on making an Art of Meta Knight video? I love using the character but I need more help knowing how to use him at an advanced level
