- For this edition of WE TEST we had the unique opportunity to test former supercross/motocross champion Ryan Villopoto's Yamaha YZ125 2 stroke. Ryan has raced select 125 All Star races on this bike during the summer months of the 2018 pro motocross season. Pro Circuit has had a heavy hand in building this motorcycle to make it race capable. Ryan Villopoto is my favorite rider, and the yz125 is my favorite bike
For the Love of 2-Strokes. So excited to see that Two-Strokes Are Coming to Red Bull Straight Rhythm.
I loved all of the 80's YZ125s but it wasn't until 98 that I really started loving it again until this day..
Even though I just bought a 21 Husqvarna FE350, I really want to buy a newer model YZ125.. This video is why !

He ran Showa suspension at Washougal if you look at his roadtrip videos.
You obviously didn't test the suspension. The track has no bumps. No wonder the euros are faster these days. These tracks are just jumps with smooth bits in between.
It's surely not ideal for pro level riders to train, but I would personally love to ride on one of those nice highway type of tracks haha. You surely don't find a lot of these in France

Makes no sense. The tracks were always non groomed in europe. Its more the rider themself. America dont have the quality of RC - Stew - RV anymore.
Lol euros are faster? You mean since they removed technicality out of outdoor tracks? Nothing like it use to be because it was only Americans and aussies that could run the circuit.

It's not missing. The top bolt is just 1 that goes all the way through from the left side

Mean YZ125 tracking well with the less than preferred tires. RVP should come back and destroy a few dreams of the other riders for few years! If it comes to 2T again, Lord help them all!

OC MTB 85 or 100 would be better to learn on, if you think that’s too small consider a 230 4 stroke

I stopped riding when I was 2p I'm now 38 just put my 500 depo on the 2021 yz 125. Totally stoked and nervous like I'm in grade school again lmao. Guess we shall find out if this old dog can re learn some 2 stroke tricks!!

What’s the maximum body weight a 125 can handle?
I think like 215lbs. Someyhing like that
I weight 215 geared up and if I knew how to ride worth a damn I’d say 190. It struggles with me above third
@Mike Owens i think its about 70kg - 75kg maximum for this bike you can weight

Bryan Wonders nope. That’s how Yamaha’s are. It’s 1 long bolt. Inserts on the left side of the bike. Looks that like it’s missing a bolt lol

Porting and jetting also affects the tone. What's more important to you, the sound or actual performance gains.
I’m not saying they are bad, they wouldn’t be this big if they weren’t doing something right, my opinion is the European side of 125 racing sounds a lot better, less high pitched and a bit more toned sound

I gotta ask because im sure many people are wondering. But, if you build such legendary motors, where are they? Why don't you have a shop to do work? How did you end up learning? Trial and error? I gotta say, I am a fan of the pro circuit pipes especially on a 125 because I found that yes it had a short powerband, but, you had to ride it wide open, the only applicable way to run such a small displacement bike.
Is this how the practice tracks looks in in the us? Thats more like roadracing than motocross.. lame
