The opening shots got me to reminiscing.... It was around 1990, and I was racing 250 intermediate class at Mammoth Mountain. Ted Boyesen was in my class. I think it was moto 2. Anyway, he and I had met earlier that day, because his bike was the crispest, fastest bike I'd ever seen there. He had his jetting perfect, and all the extra goodies which made his bike a rocket. He probably holeshot both motos, but I wouldn't know because my bike was way low on power and by the time I got to the top of the start hill, I was toward the back; from 30th to last place. But I battled to the front and Ted was there, running somewhere in top 5. I banzai'd the big downhill to gain back the time he pulled going UP that damned long hill, and then also gained on him in the next few turns. I was pulling up alongside him to pass in some whoops when he swapped hard, and he would have wrecked except his rear end caught my front and knocked me sideways so hard I instantly body planted into those whoops myself. But his hitting me saved him from crashing, and he went on to finish somewhere near the front. I didn't catch back up after that, as it was a hard wreck which rocked me and I'm pretty sure bent my bars and probably broke a lever. I don't exactly recall though. But I do remember that Ted Boyesen was a really nice guy, and I've always wished I could be mad at him for that because it ruined my dream of winning or placing in the top at Mammoth. And he totally took me out!! ;-). I could only afford one financial splurge like that per year to do something like go to Mammoth to race. So that really was a huge bummer for me. But that's racing. And on the other hand, I'm glad that my being there, in the perfect spot for Ted to swap into, kept him from having a very rough crash himself. I just wish I'd been about 2-3 feet further ahead, so neither of us would have crashed. I never got to see him again after that.

I was intrigued by the size of the motor (325 cc) and expected the vibration. Would have liked to hear more about how the engine pulled for different size/expertise riders. Sounds strong.
