    Thank you for making this video! I did my first brake and rotor change on my girlfriends car today. I had to rewatch a few parts as I was doing it. Very helpful. Only thing I really struggled with was getting the new pads into the locking bracket pins.

    Checked front brakes after 115k miles. Still have 7-8mm! Amazing. Rotors look good, too, 25mm thick. Warped, maybe, but if so, not badly. There wasn't much grease between the shim, anti-squeal plate, and brake pads. So, I re-greased with heavy caliper grease in the areas suggested by TIS. I wasn't comfortable chucking the shim and/or anti-squeal plates as you mentioned. I did a test ride. It seems that the clicking is much better, but still there slightly. Good to know, though, that the problem seems to be not important, and not the axle, which is a rabbit hole many have fallen into. Still, need to put some miles on it, and see if I truly alleviated the problem noise.

    Great video way to go above and beyond on all the small things. But I need you to sit down for this. I don’t know if you know this but you’re addicted to brake parts cleaner 😂. Follow up question: do you still use 4 cans per job now that it costs $3.88 per can when it’s on sale?

      @@RANDOMFIX quick question. I have 62,000 miles on a Prius 2016 C. Was told yesterday by dealer I need pads and rotors…$500. Last August I was told I didn’t need brakes. Drove the car very little since last August due to not working.
      I would think that if anything, maybe just the pads? I went in for my regular service maintenance? Any thoughts?

    Can't wait to remove the anti-squeal plates to silence the 'click-click-click' noise! I'm pretty nervous about the pistons popping out. I'm going to remove the neg battery cable as suggested almost everywhere, and put the key FOB far away. Even then, I'm still going to be worried; but it seems like all I can do, which is simple, to take extra precautions. I might get new rotors, because the car has moderate vibration/shimmy when braking downhill at high speed. So maybe they're warped.

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  Год назад

      Yes the new rotors sound like they are needed. Does the brake pedal pulsate when you are apply the brakes? Here is my 8 tips for brake jobs ruclips.net/video/KeKG5Cfnlmw/видео.html

    Do you have to machine the discs?

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  2 года назад

      Machining can’t fix warp rotors but you can machine them. I would rather buy new rotors considering you only have to do the brakes on the Prius every 120k + miles.

    You have to drive very aggressive to wear down the brakes on this car.

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  2 года назад

      We are always driving aggressively here in California and still the pads were good. I'm heading on another long road trip to Texas so that's why I changed them and I had the pad and rotors for 2 years now just sitting around.

      @HelloBrian7 LOL! I've been doing tire rotation, oil changes, transmission oil change for the last 240 000 miles, and I just did brake pads. I haven't bent or damaged anything prius it's just another car, nothing special, they have a lift point in the back, you can jack up both rear tires at the same time with one jack.

    • @HelloBrian7
      @HelloBrian7 16 дней назад

      @ryublackz4 ..I've been doing all that for 35 years. I've owned three generations of prius. The prime advanced, has a special front end shaped where ramps will not work (without damaging the car) the back, there is nothing in the way. Even flat bed tow drivers have to make you sign a waiver, if you want your car towed, because they also risk damaging the front end, when using a pulley. If you don't know all the different models of prius, you wouldn't understand. The regular prius of same year, is not the same design in front, or back.
      "Just another car you say?" lol! ..this car can be programmed to be autonomous.. not just another car.
