You know you're getting old when there are always RIP's in the comments of the bands you grew up with. RIP youth.
Get's scary doesn't it? I just gave my regards to Lorna Doom(Germs)a few months ago.Never seemed like there were so many original punks until they started dying.
Not necessarily old, rockers have a tendency to die younger than most. With four or five to a band, there's bound to be a few leaving us a bit early.
indeed bruhv
You're in for a lot of pain if you like oldschool punk bands then lol
@@Errcyco yeah I am coming to find that out unfortunately
I love this group so much; every one of their songs is a hit. It goes without saying, they’re like a more effete, angular, British Ramones. But the songwriting is second to none.
Perfect description! Yes.
they remind me of the sex pistols lol
Yes and this one seems to get hidden away. God knows why ?
@@thatbishhhnish8131hmmm i wonder why
They do not look fabricated but spontaneous, genuine, their influence in British music is underrated.
Their melodies had melodies.
Pete Shelley, the man who spoke for most of the feelings I had been unable to put into words since I was born. Thank you, I appreciate it. "I get no love" You were right. Sincerely. Rest in peace.
I love classic videos where the bands are just playing their instruments.

Anyone making music reading this... A good song doesn't need a distracting video!

Everything was for real back then.
今から35年前の16歳の頃にバズコックスを初めて聴いた時の哀愁メロディーの格好良さにカルチャーショックを受け今だに大好きなバンドです。

Never going to stop loving and missing you, Pete. Wherever your spirit is, I hope you're happy. 💜
I love how he stood still like a statue during his guitar solo! The only thing that moved was his fingers on the fretboard.
I remember seeing them at The Ritz in NYC in the late seventies. They blew the flippin' roof off. Superb band!
I WAS THERE
The level of jealousy I'm feeling right now...
Lucky!
Glad I got to see them live. Still have a drumstick they threw into the crowd! Always takes me back.
Other punk bands could only dream in their sleep of writing melodies like this.
It's so f-ing nice..
@Paul Cookie His grim face when he sings that.
And being dressed so stylish
You might like some of the Linda Linda's self written work."Claudia Kishi" sounds vaguely Buzzcocksy, for instance.
@@kevincarlson4562 I will check them out thanks!
I saw them live a few times , they never disappointed A great band.
Lucky! I bet their shows Rocked!
Wow dude
yep was lucky enough to see them in my home town Leamington spa,not too long before pete died.r.i.p.
I saw them at Rock Against Racism in Manchester 1978. The best band on the day. Great live!
@@davidholmes2283 I was there too. Alexandra Park. I saw them a few other times around that time too. Really good!
*the drummer for the Buzzcocks is fantastic!*
Oh yes, he is.
Absolutely. Try playing along with him. Spoiler alert … you can’t.
it's a manc thing, reni from stone roses, Stephen Morris from Joy Division / New Order
@@steve40092finally someone who knows and appreciates stephen and joy division, these are both really good drummers but stephen had a harder time trying to play in joy division CUASE more 16th and 32nd notes on cymbals
そうなんだよ!
Opened for them in Farmingdale, Long Island. Was very surreal. RIP Pete
Buzzcocks in Farmingdale! Amazing! What venue? What band?
Absolutely brilliant one of the best bands of all time.
The Jam, también muy buenos..
Ambas dos bandas, eran, sonaban más, al Proto/Punk...Junto con algunas, que ya diré....
Tengo que irme!!
Ya seguiré.
Un saludo:
Back in the day, for months the Buzzcocks were about the only band I was listening to - their consistent mastery of edgy pop was never surpassed - so glad I was able to see them live once way out on Canada's west coast. Brilliant
Totally agree. I was 16 when Spiral Scratch came out and Another Music in a Different Kitchen album. Actually, we were living in Chorley in Lancashire, UK at the time and the Buzzcocks were a new band from just down the road in Bolton, greater Manchester, UK.
I've always been a big fan of their raw punk fusion with melodic pop type music (New Wave).
Still listen to their stuff even today.
Pete Shelley,RIP man, you were loved by so many!
Reddit is saying that Punk fashion was influenced by the Rocky Horror Show. Others say that it was the New York dolls, or Malcolm Maclaren. NO. It was a working class British genius idea. Just look at these fantastic boys.
Nothing I hate more than Americans coining the fact they started punk like it wasn't a state of mind characterized by the middle and working class.
Proletariat chic.
who tf cares where it came from, just fucking enjoy you losers
@@stein1885 Started on Long Island, suburbs. Never heard of Lou Reed? London scene is a joke.
@@JimmyFranceable No I have never heard of Lou Reed....punk fashion, proto punk (something Lou Reed had a serious hand in as I am sure you know) and UK Punk are all subgenres of Rock & Roll, the UK punk scene had boomed way before Velvet Underground ever released anything that remotely sounded like the punk standard across the UK in the late 50's to the mid 70's however he did sound closer to those that made experimental rock & roll in the mid 50's so I am sure we can class him as an additive to the landslide which was the Rock & Roll scene finding new paths. FYI no one created punk that is a stupid assumption to make as even if it did stand true does it provably tie back to this person?, as I said before punk in itself was a response to the unhappy and dreary toska felt by many within the working class across the globe and those who feel they have nothing to live for to just thrash around and dance about for abit..you know to get out of that hell bent madness at the time, still stands true today.
Best one string solo ever.
Best solo ever..from a guitarist mind!
Cheeky guitar solo
I love that the Guitar solo is the chorus...brilliant.
Man that drummer is killing it
Remember seeing the Buzzcocks many times in Manchester absolutely one of my favs bands
1979 Joy Division were supporting them at the Manchester Apollo Ian Curtis crazy dancing fantastic
Now I live in Stockholm Sweden saw them perform here at Fry Huset 2001 they still had it even then but only Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle from the original line up
RIP Pete you made my youth a lot brighter
My dad snuck in a concert once with my uncle it was in like 1970's They didn't know what bands were playing at the time, They were watching the fall live And the buzzcocks were supporting them I think. And after the Buzzcocks show My dad got offered a cup of tea by Pete. And they still remain as my favourite band.
I was at that concert too. Amazing. We went to the pub the following day at about 11 and Steve Diggle was at the bar......wearing the same rig as he did the concert in! Great laugh, couple of pints and we waved a beery goodbye!!
What a time to be alive. I bet that was a great show.
I was at that gig in Manchester will never forget just watching in awe at Ian Curtis, glad to have seen the great man who actually lived really close to my home town
we're all here! great melodies, punchy drum and bass, tight guitar riffs (even plugged into the cymbal stands) and of course one of the original melancholy frontmen - Pete Shelley. Good times!
Man after all these years this song absolutely reels me in by the rawness of the emotion ripping at the heart ... such an amazing song/band ... love everything this band has released from the Devoto/Shelley Spiral Scratch EP through all their subsequent albums
Love this track,early punk,catchy and short chorus.Punk!!!!
Pop
@@marknewbold2583 Pop punk!
Dig your name 🤘
@GretschDog Yes. As pop as it is, there's the IDGAF clothing and most importantly, the angst.
@@marknewbold2583 Punk was pop from the very beginning.
This is absolutely their best song, me and my brother used to cover it sometimes because their songs have doubled guitar. I don’t know why people love Ever Fallen In Love more than this song… . RIP Pete

Punk rock girl! DM

That solo sounds like i dont wanna be played. Anti solo attitude😉
The bassman is so into it i love thoses songs
This is a real guitar hero: a solo that you can hum & no need to smile like a fool or to jump around.
Saw them on the Clash "White Riot" tour in 1977.
The Jam, Slits and Subway Sect were also on the bill.
£3.20 a ticket - Edinburgh Playhouse!
The Buzzcocks were the best that night.
Naissssss. So sad he's gone.
An old punk from Austria.
Saw the clash years ago but love all the bands you named. When I saw the Clash they were awesome. Miss those days, love the Buzzcocks by the way. Love bytes baby!
What a line up.
I am well jealous.
the bassist cracks me up! he's really rockin out!
I'm so glad I got to see these guys and up close and personal in a club.It was mid 80s and Pete came out and declared; "Nothing but hits"! We knew we were in for a treat.
"I only get sleepless nights
Alone here in my half-empty bed!!
For you things, seem to turn out right
I wish they'd only happen to me instead"

I'm so thankful 😊 that I saw the Buzzcocks several times throughout my life,so Awesome!
They looked so cool and what a tune!
Pete Shelley rocking the Gordon Smith guitar...LEGEND!
My god, the years pass too quickly. These boys look like babies to me. And I would've only been 6 or 7 years old myself at the time. RIP Pete.
Amazing stuff, I forgot how good they were. Hard to believe that was 45 years ago… it sounds timeless.
They were bloody brilliant....! Love hearing this again .....❤
I saw them on last saturday in Berlin and they were fantastic. The complete hall was dancig and the band played as if there was no tomorrow. One of the best concerts I've seen. They still got it.... and Berlin loves them...
Buzzcocks are awesome.
I hung out with them in the 80s after a gig, Pete was so cool we talked all night

one of my youth favorites - still love to listen to them....
This song is the story of my life . Having no friends , no love no sleep nothing that is nice . But I'm tough to get on with it . Keep calm and carry on don't feel sorry for myself. Life is to short you just have to be nice and polite and respectable and treat people the way you want to be treated. Be the better person even if people are inconsiderate and self absorbed. Don't care what people say Or do . You only have to answer to your self.
@ Marie, my dad use to say You can never fall out with yourself , be true yourself and what you've written I'd say there's nothing else to add 👍.
For what it’s worth Marie ; I’m in the same boat , always have been .. . You have a kindred spirit and a friend in me ...!
Sometimes it takes a lifetime for people to realize this...
...I feel sorry for them.
Cheers to you. 🍻
Me too but we have this
I agree with everything you said aside from the "be polite and respectable and treat people the way you want to be treated." nonsense. It depends...
Great solid pop punk band, they managed to fit all that fierce into real straight 50s pop structure.....Nothing else quite like The Buzzcocks!
I miss Pete Shelley so much...thank god i got to see him (them) and talk with him right before he left us...
This will always and forever be my anthem. Ughhhh.... SO. GOOD.

Glad I got to see the buzzcocks before we lost pete, r.i.p brother.
Gotta love that the drummer's cymbal stands actually double as guitar amplifiers and that the microphones were hidden somewhere in their blouses. God, I miss the 80's.
You don't really get the subtly sardonic sarcasm until you see Shelley actually sing the words at the camera. He's so desperately funny!
Saw them a few years ago. Was mid 30s at the time and the youngest person there bar none!
We've had some top music in this country haven't we?
These guys practically invented power pop. On tour now, sadly without Pete, but go support their efforts!
I hope they play this song when I see them in September!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is what we had on the turntable a lot of the time in the early 80's and it sounds just as good as it did back then..I love it! Excellent!
Oh my god the nostalgia
Thank goodness for RUclips! I remember reading about this act decades ago, but had never heard of any of their music.
A drinking game we used to play: drink when "what do i get" is sung. Simple but its a destroyer. Just hearing this song is enough to give me a hangover!
once upon a time in the 1970's The Sex Pistols manged to play a gig in rainy Manchester without getting banned by the local council and the next day about 6 renowned pop bands were formed - including this one.
