I have LOVED this band since I was 12 years old in 1977! Met Steve several times, God Bless him for carrying on the Buzzcocks sound! See you at Rebellion 2022 !
@@paulosicne8498 Steve Diggle, was just as big a part of Buzzcocks, as Pete ! And i'm sure It's wot Pete would have wanted . At least Steve has taken on the vocals, bringing in new vocalist would have been the wrong thing to do ! Why should a great band die along with an original member ? Good of Steve, to keep the memory of a great band alive . It has nothing to do with money .
I saw Buzzzcocks many times in the 70’s and 80’s, but the very BEST one was at the Glasgow Apollo in 1979 when they had Joy Division as their support act! I can still see Ian Curtis doing his spastic dance in my mind’s eye! They were great…but Buzzcocks were awesome! A real shame that no one filmed any of the gigs on that tour, as both bands were at the height of their powers!
There's been a few harsh comments regards Steve taken the lead I'm a hard core Buzzcock fan since the Devoto days but Pete will always for me be the singer of the Buzzcocks I know and love but give the lad some credit he's doing a fantastic job at making some great live music. No doubt for Steve will always see himself as a Buzzcock what is he supposed to do just sit and think how things used to be or get up on stage and knock out few of the old Bands numbers.
Saw the Buzzcocks at the Roundhouse,Chalk Farm,London in 1978,alongside Penetration,999,Generation X,AND a suprise "one song" set by the Pistols!!! What a gig !!! Brilliant times 👍👍
Oh my God, I just got to this video. I still can't believe Pete is gone. But Steve is on stage, playing Buzzcocks. How can you not be proud of this? I can't do that. This video shows me Buzzcocks will always be more than the best.
"Singles Going Steady" is definitely one of the greatest albums of the 2nd British Invasion and the Buzzcocks were certainly one of England's best bands during that time. I've been playing their songs for my history students in my little "History of Alternative Music" class for a long time now and hopefully have inspired some to seek all that "unheard in America" music out for themselves. I used to play "SGS" like a 45--one side after the other and just flip it again and again, the same as the Vibrator's "Pure Mania" and Wire's "Pink Flag." Just as powerful now as it was then!
I was lucky enough to support the Buzzcocks at Londons Town and Country club...they were the nicest bunch I've ever worked with..sadly Pete no longer..but they had an impact that you had to be there to appreciate it..and raised the roof...Steve Diggle holding thr torch and doing it in style...rip Pete
Have had the privilege to see Buzzcocks twice. Once with Pete, and once since his sad passing. Thoroughly enjoyed both gigs. Steve is a worthy frontman and gives it absolutely everything. OK, so we all miss Pete, but Steve is doing a fantastic job keeping Buzzcocks going. Keep on rocking Steve, see you at Nuneaton next month!
'tis always great to see musicians who have been around for years still loving to perform. Making music is like a fire in the belly, that if you are fortunate to keep stocked, can burn all your life.
I saw BUZZCOCKCS 3 times in Lyon France, met Steve the last one, we were drunk ..pissing together before the concert.GREAT EMOTION ! we had fun! and you know what man, like i've said to you before there... "I NEED"!...Thanks to be what you are...I ALWAYS NEED!;;..still singing your sogs with your harmony in my head...

Cheers. Nice video. I was there and it was a really good gig. Saw them at The Brickyard a few years earlier when Pete Shelley was still the frontman but they didn't disappoint at Solfest.

Had Steve Garvey and especially the original drummer John Maher been involved I think it would have sounded more like The Buzzcocks but this is just the Steve Diggle band covering a Buzzcocks song
The current drummer has been in Buzzcocks for longer than Garvey or Maher, fwiw. I do think Buzzcocks without Pete seems weird, but they have put out more records without the original rhythm section than they did with, so I don't see them as quite so essential to making it true Buzzcocks.
@@CantStopScreaming Except that all the classic songs came from the original line up and those songs still dominated the set list even at the end of shelleys career. Its what people think of when tbey think Buzzcocks. The style of bass and drums from Maher/ Garvey is very distinctive. No later lineups ever really recreated it , but the Buzzcocks cover band do it it well. ( Buzzkocks)

Not nearly as tight as original Buzzcocks - but hey, this brought back memories from early 80s

Don't we all really, but it's just life isn't it. What do you do cut yourself adrift from the world and don't do anything?
