      Remember him saying he smoked 20 cigarettes before recording this to get the rough sound. Got the 7 inch cover version still almost perfect. That from a Stranglers fan who saw an up and coming Manc support band for the Stranglers in April 1980 called JOY DIVISION don’t know what happened to them!

  • @45rpmSINGLES
    @45rpmSINGLES 12 лет назад +40

    Bought this in my local Woolworths when i was 17. Nobody else did through as it was only a minor hit. I was a massive Stranglers fan and this sounded like an angry Hugh Cornwell ripping his way through a Stranglers song ! I hit 50 this month week and still think it`s fantastic.

      stereogrIm I think maybe the best bands are always underrated,, as they are so unique. ,,, The buzzcocks are a fantastic band. And they Still sound superb today , so the shite bands like. Duran Duran etc are always overrated ,, The likes of the buzzcocks , the damned. Etc Are just far too good for. The typical ears of the squares & the boring set ,,, so it means the elite group of people who are fans of the genius bands are far and few between , unfortunately ,as there is not too many of us who have a great ear for great music

    The crowd is so lifeless and the very definition of tepid. Growing up in the frontier of Northern Michigan, amid miners and lumberjacks, nothing inspired me more on my drive to school than the Buzzcocks. I wish there existed a clean and re-mastered Boredom track. The track I have sounds bleached.

      +Michael Westfall Then again, it's a TV show. Probably didn't want it too wild as it distracts from the band miming to their song. American Bandstand was the same - I remember John Lydon pulling people off the bleachers trying to get them to dance while he pointedly avoided trying to look like he was singing - closing his mouth, tapping the equipment with the dead mic, etc.
