Mansun - Lamacq Live 23rd May, 1998.
Просмотров 68Месяц назад
Recorded as part of the Lamacq Live from BBC's Maida Vale studios on 23rd May, 1998. The band were to preview tracks from the new album on the very first edition of the Radio 1 show 'Lamacq Live', an extended Monday night version of 'The Evening Session' that featured a live set from the BBC's Maida Vale studios each week. I had read in the music press that the new record was a lot darker, but ...

City Hall, evidently.
Good song
He plays .....Im smiling...
13:23 road crew having a fight!
Superb version
Thank you
What is that amazing song he plays at 19.20?
Peter Green WAS Fleetwood Mac. He left and the rest of them went to the US and became something less than they had been.
11:14☝️❗ Amen to that Cozy❗❗❗❗
he was sane...the world is just sick, was back then and is more then ever today
Love early fleetwood mac. I played in a punk band on bass guitar in early 90s and still play and write to this day. Im gonna defo record my songs in memory of this great guitarist song writer. Class act
There is nothing that really helps schizophrenia - every medical intervention has horrible side effects.
I love his style
I wonder if the treatment he got was worse than the illness.
Yup, You're right! 👍
Treasure of the gift of his music, the rest is insignificant.
Saw him in one of his first gigs with John Mayall- small local hall in Harpenden. Hadn’t a clue about music so didn’t know what to expect. Once he started playing I couldn’t take my eyes off him all night. I have never him and the first time I ever heard that name-Peter Green. Beautiful soul R.I.P.
Bless those friends who got him back into music.
If only they didn't let him down in the end...😔
The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long. He was the greatest British Blues player who ever lived. Gods bless you Peter.
' Lived in squalor in a tiny house in Richmond ' - near Pete Townshend presumably. But the Who guitarist wouldn't have taken in nor played with PG -too much ego to lose to a much greater and humbler talent.
@brandycat8513 Do you think? I noticed on the Hard Road Back video I put on here that Eric Clapton came to see Peter, but he had that shit entourage of people all around him. I'm convinced they yes looked after Peter Green, but they managed his money.
@brandycat8513 My old landlord was a very intelligent man ex teacher, but he lost his way and ended up in asylums and could never fully grasp real life again. Some of the things PG says remind me of him he'd speak in riddles and never quite be serious. ECT is frightening.
I seen Fleetwood Mac on Morecambe Pier England in 1967... It was a rather large Ballroom and there were about 50 people there, at most, I sat in the Balcony, aged 18, and watched and listened in awe of the sound that came from those guys, Peter had his back to the ''audience'' most of the time and I clapped and clapped when a song ended, and once the show was over Peter pointed up to me and said thanks as this was just a rehearsal as we are new Band and it was only a few years later I noticed they were the same Band I seen in 67...Those days had so many great Bands but the original Fleetwood Mac stood out as special indeed... R.I.P. to one THE greats of London.
Do you know the name of the song he plays at about 19:20?
@@jackgrant9301 : ''Need yer love so bad''... Classic Fleetwood Mac are the beginning. Look for the start of Fleetwood Mac when Peter was the front man, Lead Singer and Lead Guitar.
Awesome...had the honor of seeing him shortly after he returned to performing. ...A VERY SPECIAL NIGHT
Still my favourite finger guitarist and song writer ever
Thank you for the music Peter. RIP.
He got very heavy. I wonder if it was from the prescription drugs the doctors gave him.
Wrong diet...too many calories in, not many movemnets to get rid of them...developed diabetes, that runs in family. His mother manged it with diet...
Legend. Big influence on uk Blues!!! Old saying got all need but nothing R.I.P 😢
Green Manalishi is his ever best
I was friendly wiv Peter back in early 80s. Beautiful Bem introduced me. We chilled in his Richmond cottage. I was bout 19_20 and he was slowly coming out of his drug infused psychosis. Via some dodgy cult that whisked him away in bout 1970 previously. I was a muscian ,and played harp n wrote but not at all focused . Didnt kno his back story n how prolific he was. He was a grt harp player. He was somewhat ehtheral at time. Said little wiv humour . But puntuated wen he did spk like his guitar playin. 🎸 He somewhat at time looked like Dennis Rousos.Wiv the lbig long flowin smock!!! People occasionaly wud pop by. Peter said he wanted his royalties that had been ripped off him. RIP 🙏 Peter 👍
Probably with Mick Taylor the best British guitarists of the 1960's. Just listen to Fleetwood Mac at the Boston Tea Party 1968. You'll find out that Danny Kirwan was pretty darn good also.
6:09 Scrumptious legs!
You've still got it man !.......
Incredible blues man so sad he lost the plot.Amazing guitarist.
@8:47 remember this lads....BB King once said "Peter Green was the only guitar player that made me sweat." And if you don't believe him, search " Got a mind to give up living", live in Stockholm 1970. And grab yourself a towel and some tissue because you're gonna cry and sweat. That live performance is (for me) as good as it has ever been played.
Paul talks in let it be movie on how great he thinks he is.
rip Pete Shelly thee Homo Sapien of thee BuzzCucks bebe!!🖕🖕
I was fortunate enough to see The Splinter Group with Peter here in the Detroit, MI area. He wasn’t the old Peter but there were flashes of brilliance on that Strat. In the old days he played that wonderful Paul. Just a mild mannered fellow. I loved the show although Nigel played a lot.
"I went up on a cloud and thought that I was better than I was. I accepted their compliments... and see where I ended up." ~ Peter Green's words to the wise!
He has that God-given thing like Mick Taylor. Melodicism, touch and timing. With austerity. Less is more.
Drugs are deadly. I've lost so many friends and people I knew. If the drugs don't kill you first, they will age you well before your time. Had a friend and she was admited to mental hospital and sectioned after her first trip on acid. She's still mentally ill now, 40 years later. What this video doesn't show is the hell, people with mental illness go through. Let Peter Green and Brian Wilson etc be a warning to anyone being tempted by drugs. Don"t do it!
Saw him in a small venue in Ventura Ca about 15yrs ago,he didn’t sing a word but played every note exactly- incredible !
While some of the sparkle has gone and I hope I'm not rude in saying this but his voice has the authentic quality of an aged colored blues musician, and his lead playing is remarkably similar to BB King, I think that's a wonderful thing for Peter to have tapped into again. I was only 12 when I found a copy of then play on at some Iranian ladies second hand shop for 25 cents, this definitely was not the Fleetwood Mac that your mom through on the turntable to clean the house too, but the band that outsold the Beatles and rolling stones combined!!!
Legend by all means. Nobody can judge him.
Their final tour. 😢
great riff and bass lines, cut down on the synth, gravel up the voice... luv it
Green manalachey best time I ever heard it Kool nevana playing in the back ground
