  • I love getting to review robot vacuums and mops. Not only do I find the technology and advancements fascinating, the bonus is I have really clean floors! I’m Erin TGC and This time I’m taking a look at a new robot that combines both a robot vacuum and a mopping bot into one unit-and adds some major extras. The ECOVACS Deebot N8+ is a dual purpose robot that will vacuum your floors and then mop them down. It also has another handy feature: it will empty itself into a sealed bag when the vacuuming is done. This is truly an all in one bot that means you don’t need multiple devices in your home.

Let’s get to it… how does ECOVACS DEEBOT N8+ clean?
The DEEBOT N8+ includes a 2,300 Pa suction power motor which ECOVACS says is more effective than previous bots. Despite extremely high suction power, the N8+ includes a new fan motor design that’s meant to be durable and also to keep noise down.
In my opinion the noise level is a bit on the lower side, and in the app, you can dial down the suction power and the noise if you need to vacuum quietly, or dial it up for a deeper clean.
NOW… Let’s get to how this robot vacuum and mop cleans…
I put all my robot vacuums through the same tests… I have it work on vacuuming up things like fine flour, oatmeal, rice, and larger cracker pieces on both hard floors and on rugs…
The Deebot N8+ is able to tackle most any kind of debris, and what it doesn’t get in the first pass, it gets in the next one.
The ECOVACS DEEBOT N8+ was easily able to handle the different types of floor surfaces in my space; I had carpet, rugs, tile and hardwood and it cleaned each one well, and was able to navigate most transitions without getting stuck, though I did have a few odd spots where it was getting hung up - on things like cords or a particular floor vent. But I was able to go into my map and create no-go zones in those areas, so after the first hang-ups, it wasn’t an issue again.
Normally you really need to empty a robot vacuum’s onboard dustbin after each cleaning, but with an auto emptying station like the one on the N8+, this lets you clean for weeks or even months without needing to touch the onboard dustbin, because the botvac will return to the dock to empty itself when it’s full, then go out and keep right on cleaning.
Let’s get to the mopping… and it’s worth noting a robot mop is meant to give your home a light mopping wipe - this is not meant to clean up large or viscous wet messes.
To use the mopping feature on the ECOVACS DEEBOT N8+ fill the water tank and then click in the mopping plate, with either the reusable microfiber cloth or a disposable cloth attached, then press clean. There’s no need to add cleaner.
One 240ml tank of water is enough to keep the bot mopping for about 100 minutes; probably enough for an entire floor.
To test the mopping capabilities I dribbled some milk, and some muck onto the floor and let some dusty dog paw prints accumulate.
The Deebot N8+ actually did a surprisingly good job of getting small spills wiped up without making them worse, and leaving my floors shiny clean.
If you are a Google Home or Amazon Echo user, you can link your smart home devices to your robot, and tell it when and where to start cleaning.
Adding voice control to your robot vacuum and mop is absolutely essential in my opinion. I use it all the time; if I spill flour in the kitchen I can beckon the DEEBOT N8+… if the dogs have tracked dirt into the living room, I just ask Alexa for a quick mop. The smart home capabilities are infinitely helpful and work very well.
Overall, I’ve been really thrilled with this bot. It’s a two-in-one unit, meaning I don’t need to find space in the house to dock both a vacuum and a robot mop. I think the mapping works great and it’s easy to use in the Ecovacs Home app. The cleaning is great and I love the auto emptying feature. The mopping is also super helpful; we have new white tile in our kitchen and bathrooms and it shows every spot, so being able to keep them clean by setting the Deebot on a schedule is so handy. Overall, this robot saves me something that’s pretty precious and that’s time.
This robot has earned a place in my home and I think it would also be a great fit in your home too.

Thank you for doing this review - I purchased this during a Black Friday sale and got it set up just enough to vacuum because I couldn't find the time to sit down and finish with what I thought was going to be a steep learning curve for the mop function. I am writing this review as it buzzes merrily about the house, mopping away. Of course the "steep learning curve" was all fabricated and thanks to you I was able to check this off my to-do list and move on with my life! 🤣

This DeeBot has nice features however, if you are going to use the mop feature, you must have the charging station on a hard floor. In other words, if you put the docking station on a carpet and you want to mop your wood or tile floor, it will become stuck. The mop pad will contact the carpet and stop it from moving forward. This is a huge issue. Other robots have the mop pad lift up while it goes on carpet to travers to the next zone or to recharge. I hope EcoVac acknowledges this.

Thanks for the review. Have just go my N8 Pro two days back. Have been excited to use it.
Faced some teething issues - I set up the auto cleaning for a specific part of the house in the morning, however the Deebot was unable to go back to the charging dock.
If the Mop plate is attached , does it not go back to the charging dock with the mop plate attached?
    Thanks!

Hi Erin - That is a great product review! I'm still a little confused about mopping vs. vacuuming mode - if I leave water in the reservoir, does that mean it will never vacuum my rugs? And when there is water in the reservoir, are my tile floors getting vacuumed with the same power as when the reservoir is empty? Thanks!!

sponsored "review" :(. How about letting them sponsor videos when you are not reviewing their products. Review samples are standard fare, sponsored "reviews" are most certainly not. Have these video sponsored by Audible, Squarespace, or any other company that is not making the product that you are reviewing. As it is now you lose all credibility, but you are honest and up front with the sponsorship which is good.

Very informative review Erin! I am curious how your ECOVACS N8+ robot vacuum is able to handle tall thick shaggy carpet? I recently bought the Roborock S5 MAX Robot Vacuum but quickly learned that the moving sweepers that swirl on the bottom get tangled in the carpet threads and get stuck. Since the high pile carpet is in the family room, basically the middle of the house, the robot is unable to make a map of the house. I'm considering returning it because of that, and will buy the ECOVACS N8+ if it can manuver through a higher pile carpet.

    • @ErinLawrenceTV
      @ErinLawrenceTV  3 года назад
