Great honest review. I skipped testing this robot due to videos like this one. I now have the Freo X Ultra and I hope they learned from their mistakes.
Thank you for the review. I just saw a commercial on youtube giving glowing reviews and claiming to pick up chocolate and I think crumbs. Making it look like the best thing since sliced bread.
I agree with you. This machine is only really good in a non carpeted environment and I always pick up my smaller rugs before running it. I never let my robot vacuums run on a schedule because I have to make sure I "robot" proofed the area first. Meaning my husband hasn't left his shoes or boots out and the laces are available to be tangled. The bathroom mat is picked up or it might get tangled. As far as obstacle avoidance is concerned, I'm not sure it has any! LOL! Although it was befuddled by my comforter hanging low off the bed and it treated it like a wall even though it could have gone through. I am happy with the mopping on my hardwood floors, it's done a good job with that at least.
I just bought a Dreame l20 Ultra. I immediately seen an ad for this one, and was wondering if i made a mustake, and could've bought this instead., So glad i watched this video.
LOVE this review.... i was afraid you'd be giving it a glowing review... but your assessment was detailed and straight to the point. You also took appropriate testing time AND followed up with the company for feed back. They had a chance to respond with something informative - but I'm glad you reported what they said. I was definitely looking into this bot and I'm thankful to think twice.... cleaning Bots are not cheap!
These videos are so very important to help us customers to end these companys! I bought a robot for the prize of 150$ (1499 swedish kronor) and it clean ruggs and hard floor super clean! I doesn´t have the mop function but i don´t want to mix vaccum cleaning with water so that was a consious choise! Thanka again Erin
All vacuum robot companies seem to be so shady about price/performance of their products, but thanks to videos like this we won't be "stuck in cables" to find out which one to pay for.
Very nice video, the Mario sound effect when the robot got stuck into stuff got me 😅😆 Came here as I have been curious about how their new model that is about to be released will fare in comparison.
Really enjoying this product so far. As a customer comming from an Irobot S9 its night and day. - SUPER quiet. - Doesnt bump for hours on the same perfectly avoidable corner. - Actually doesnt get stuck on cables Idk maybe there's been an update on the robot capacity to avoid since then, by the way ... - actually getting Over the Air Updates improving the robot. - Does a better job in way less time. - Super High build quality (same for the App) I cannot assess its quality for the carpet heavy environement as my house is exclusively hardfloor but I wouldnt be surprise that your video holds true on that regard.
Personally, I love this cleaner. It always senses top of stair and doesn’t go down. Thoroughly cleans under couch as well where we all don’t like to go. App is great and it only stopped picking up everything after 5 months of heavy use where brushes needed to be replaced. My experience has been very positive. With pets It’s so helpful to pick up lots of hair and paw prints. Vacuum only mode first if there’s lots on floor or more than usual, and then vacuum and mop mode after. Freo mode once and a while as that mode is very thorough. Like a stereo condenser microphone, understanding the proper settings makes all the difference in the world. It senses when you are walking next to it and won’t bump into you or anything too. Must keep all sensors clean or they may not work properly. Easy enough to do every 3 months. Sorry others have other negative experiences with it.
@@ErinLawrenceTV Hey Erin, I think I may know what's going on with the poor carpet performance. According to some info, the Freo auto lifts the brushroll when it is mopping so the brushroll doesn't suck up liquids. I'm guessing there may be some bug to where it lifts the brushroll when it hits carpet, therefore not making good contact and doing a poor job. Or the brushroll might stall to prevent the brushroll motor from burning.
You know what else I don’t like that it stops throughout house , everything you said was on point. Now I have the the shark to vacuum ans Narwal to mop still depending on returning. Trying to see, but I love the mop because it does not drag.. and the battery life is great.
It seems Narwal listened to you and the new Freo Z looks to be addressing a lot of these issues. It would be so awesome if you could test it and see if Narwal can redeem itself.
This one is so quiet and gentle on my trim compared to my IRobot 7 which slams into everything and is just plain loud while doing it. We do have laminate, and I pick up any throw rugs, even my regular vacuum sucks those up so I don’t see the problem. I just take them outside for a good shake or wash them.
Erin, thanks for a great review! And for being honest!! This looks like a big fail in my book. I'm surprised the manufacturer didn't say " Well, just vacuum your floor first before using our Narwal. You'll get better results!" Ha-Ha :^)
Wish I’d seen this before I bought mine! 6 hours of changing settings and it won’t do the one task I need it to do, vacuum my living room rug! It continues to pass over it and go back to the same corners! It missed the same debris for 6 hours! And it dragged some debris from under my stairs into my Living room and left me with more cleanup than before! I should have just stuck with a swiffer and a cheaper vacuum
I list a few robot vacuum options for pet hair here: www.techgadgetscanada.com/top-10-robot-vacuums-and-floor-cleaning-bots-of-2023-my-hands-on-reviews/
You didn’t address a very crucial issue of multiple floor levels which Narwal is unable to handle. I have 5 different floor levels in my house and for that reason I had to return the Narwal Freo that I purchased.
We have Ecovacs X1 and Irobot j7 combo not at the same flor so I cant compare tham but I would say X1 cleans even better. But the Irobot J7 pulls out so mich from carpet you are scraching yourself in disbelif after 2 weeks of not cleaning it but this isent exeptible !
At nearly $2000 Canadian, I could pay someone to vacuum my house weekly for more than a year and the job would be superior. We are waiting for a company to take over the market with better software, vacuuming design and pricing that undercuts to competition. At that point people will stop seeing robot vacuums as a luxury purchase.
I was about to hit “buy”, but I’m big on reviews and stumbled onto your vid. I can’t thank you enough for the honest feedback!
Glad I could help!
Same
Great honest review. I skipped testing this robot due to videos like this one. I now have the Freo X Ultra and I hope they learned from their mistakes.
Here in the UK, the difference in price between the two is eye watering. The X Ultra is about €1300; the standard one is about €370.
Thank you so much I literally had it in my cart to buy it then decided to watch one more video. And it was everything I needed to see !!
Glad I could help!
I was trying to convince my husband that we needed this, now l’m happy that l watched this review! Thank you!
You're very welcome!

It’s frustrating when expensive machines like this aren’t as versatile as you’d be led to believe.

I really like it! It’s not perfect at vacuuming but for a simple household with wood floors it’s fine. The mopping is great as well
Good to hear!

The honesty! Looking forward to what Roborock will release next. This freo is the same price as the S7 maxv! Merry Christmas! 🎁🎄
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Great Narwal Freo Robot Vacuum for my house
Thanks for this great review.. Subscribed and liked.
Thanks for the sub!
Thanks Erin. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and Roger. 🎄🎄🎅🏻🎅🏻🎉🎉
Same to you Ron!
So which one is the best vacuum + mop robot you've tested so far?
Thanks 4 Ur review it helped 4 me 2 choose another product.

Wow this is such a good review thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review. I am about to buy it from Costco. What is your opinion on it after almost a year?
What do you recommend for a hardwood/tile cleaner
Erin, thanks for a great review! And for being honest!! This looks like a big fail in my book. I'm surprised the manufacturer didn't say " Well, just vacuum your floor first before using our Narwal. You'll get better results!" Ha-Ha :^)
I totally agree, and thank you!
Which is the best robot based on performance and price?
for $900 it should be excellent in everything!
Totally agree!
absolutely... that is an investment for at a premium price
Thanks for this
Not exactly watch other videos that are giving really good review about it.
"Chemecals can damage its guts." 😆 🤣 😂

In all fairness, it is advertised as a moping bot, not a vacuum bot.
Thanks
Hello what robot vacuum would you say is best for pet hair?

What's the best robot vacuum on the market right now?
Great question. Here’s the answer: m.ruclips.net/video/NN-Lkby3ThY/видео.html
@@ErinLawrenceTV doesn't answer the question, those are you top 5.
Tks
Why does it take so long to start
WOW .... I can't believe that thing rolled over dirt and left practically 'ALL' of it behind. I've owned Roomba's for years. I'll stick with Roomba.
It was pretty shocking, wasn’t it?
You didn’t address a very crucial issue of multiple floor levels which Narwal is unable to handle. I have 5 different floor levels in my house and for that reason I had to return the Narwal Freo that I purchased.
Great point!
When being a owner of a Roborock Q7 Max and watching this i wonder what the developer of the Narwal Freo was thinking because this was far from good.
I like the machine but no dirt tank in the station is a no go in that price region imo 🥴
We have the iRobot vacuum and mop. Both, perform significantly better. For $1800 I feel this unit is massively overpriced.
I ran the iRobot duo myself for many years. It is indeed very effective.
Apparently there’s several suction power mode, if you opt for the lower mode, you won’t have a good vacuum testing result😂
No auto bin empty is ridiculous. Our 4-year-old Shark robot has that.
Hint: Try not to include 4 audiotracks at the start,we get it,you reviewed some
I hate it. It just killed itself by falling down the stairs. It has 4 cliff sensors and it still fails on the most basic skill
That's terrible!
@@ErinLawrenceTV yup. It has been returned to Amazon.
Ugh. I literally just bought this and came to watch extra instructions. I’ll try it a few times and return if it’s like your video. So bummed.
So was I :(
Lilypad, any update on your experience?
WHAT ? $1,400.00 ?
im glad i didnt get the freo and i just have the first one
No doubt!
Great review. What a piece of crap. I was just about to buy this and decided to check YT for reviews. 😅
Good thing!

ive had the narwal t10 for almost 2 years, it runs every 2 days, still working perfect
No auto emptying of dust bin? Deal-breaker.
Oh heck no. That wasn’t a lot debris on your floor. That vacuum bot is a piece of junk IMO. The OMNI X1 hasn’t let me down and was worth every US $1.
Agreed!
Very disappointed with this
