Every time I watch and hear George, I miss him all the more. I had a chance meeting with him at a hotel in Los Angeles. Waiting for an elevator after checking in, I was carrying two suitcases. The door open and as is normal for me, I wait for everyone to depart before I get in. Suddenly there he was... holding a uke in one hand and a light bag in the other. He said, “checking in?” I replied “ yes,” and he said, “nice hotel, this one.” Then he left. I think Olivia and Dani were with him but I don’t really remember. Crazy.
He makes me smile so much❤️ I love hearing his voice, it’s a lullaby, he brings me joy, has helped me fall into a deep sleep, when all I’ve done before is toss and turn/cry. he’s replaced Ringo as my favorite Beatle, and I can’t help but smile uncontrollably seeing his face/hearing his voice❤️
What is so wonderful in this video is that everyone is smiling their asses off. They're loving every minute of this. You see the same thing in the Wilbury Brother videos. It's obvious that working with George is a dream!
In 1991 Harrison appeared on Jools Holland’s Channel 4 show Mr Roadrunner, in which Holland travelled to Tennessee and Mississippi in search of the music of America. In one section of the show, Holland pitched a “musical tent” in which he discovered Harrison, who played ‘Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea’ on a ukulele, with backing from Jools Holland on piano, Ray Cooper on drums, Joe Brown and Mark Flanagan on guitars, Gilson Lavis on stand-up bass, and Herbie Flowers on tuba. Mr Roadrunner was first broadcast in the UK on 6 June 1992. ‘Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea’ was first recorded by Cab Calloway in 1931, Harrison’s Brainwashed version was a remix of the TV recording.

I love having a ukulele that I can take with me anywhere and I owe my inspiration to finding one to George as well.
You ever hear the funny story the late Tom Petty told about George? He said George once took him over to the trunk of his car, and George had a trunk full of ukuleles. He dug around and pulled out one or two and gave them to Petty. Petty said George earnestly told him to take them as, "You never know when you may need one..." Like he was giving him jumper cables or a tire jack....
dkelly26666 I love this story. Petty said that he, George and Jeff Lynne would sit around and play ukelele into the wee hours. George LOVED playing the ukelele! We were taught to play it in high school (a long time ago.) Now, people are really into the it again. I’m thinking of getting a ukelele myself.
This is a sweet cover from a 1932 tune. George was so great, and I think he wrote some of the best Beatles hits in their later years together. "Something", "Here Comes The Sun", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Taxman"...and also some of the best post Beatles too. Miss you George!
I have no favourite Beatle, but there are some things l love best and specifically in each of them. To me George was always the spiritual, sweet one. He's the Beatle I look for when I want to feel at peace and search the depths of my inner self. 🖖😊❤

This is a slightly different mix / performance than the studio track from George's 2002 Brainwashed album which featured a strummed acosutic guitar intro instead of the doubled dowbeat and guitar riffs intro heard here. This was from a live soundtrack performance from March of 1991 at a George Formby Convention held at Winter Gardens in Blackpool and eventually later broadcast on June 6th included in the 1992 TV segment of 'Mister Roadrunner' with Jools Holland (piano) and Joe Brown (guitar) & Mark Flannagan (guitar), Herbie Flowers (bass) and also features world reknown drummer & percussionist Ray Cooper and George on 6-string Uke.
That's Gilson Lavis on the upright bass, not Dave Edmunds - he's the drummer in Jools Holland's band (Rhythm and Blues Orchestra) ...and was the original drummer in Squeeze. I don't think he actually plays double bass, and is just miming for the video.
Sir Paul talks about George's love of the ukulele during his concerts and then pays musical tribute to same by performing a solo rendition of "Something" on the ukulele. I have seen him do this in concerts in Los Angeles and Detroit and it is one of the more memorable emotional moments amongst a bevy of emotional moments at a Sir Paul concert...
Love George Harrison's music. His Beatles work. If I Needed Someone, Taxman, I Want To Tell You, Within You Without You, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Old Brown Shoe, Something, Here Comes The Sun, and his solo albums, All Things Must Pass, Living in the Material World, Extra Textra, Thirty Three and a 1/3, George Harrison, Gone Troppo, Cloud 9, Brainwashed. He really was a brilliant songwriter.
Incredible how Ray Cooper is like the Dungeon Master, he appears in every band, every concert, every show!!! With every performer! This video is just great. I wonder if it was a playback or a mix of live and playback. So well performed.

For my niece who passed away from Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer. This song was her favorite, and we played every single day. We would play it in the car, and sing along like peas and carrots. I miss you, Wubby Bubby. She was 10.

George was the most handsome of the Beatles from the moment I saw his face on the first album when it came out. Yup, been a George fan for over 55 years now.
