I love playing with Alpha Animals/Biomes and the Rimworld Of Magic mods together, makes it feel like it’s a more fantastical setting without fully compromising its Sci-Fi roots…well, until I add in Dragons, but you get the idea
Also to add a little more to it if you like medieval stuff there is a mod that the flavors luciferium into "demon blood" a red liquid that fits a fantasy style
Ah, the Efreets... In a generations from Tribal to Ultratech run, I happened to find one of these crashing in a drop pod. I recruited her, she became the wife of my previous recruit, and with her double passion in crafting, turned out to be one of the most essential members of my tribe. Oh, did I mention that I play with the Hand-to-Hand mod and she was a psychopathic brawler with a double passion in melee? I can imagine what the ant people that spent their time raiding my base were saying upon seeing her exiting my base by the front door... "Oh, what monsters... They're sending the pregnant women to fight... *See the pregnant Efreet rip the head of his brother* WH-WHAT MONSTERS! THEY'RE SENDING THE P-PREGNANT WOMEN TO FIGHT!!!"
New to playing rimworld. Went in blind to Alpha Animals. Had two vampire people who’d randomly joined my colony acting as the backbone of my defense. Turns out one of them was a mimic. I did not make it through the winter lol
Note from personal experience: feralisks make AWESOME combat mounts. Huge speed and stun spit. With that kind of speed, they're awesome even out of combat.
meh, the alpha generally just add on to various already existing aspects of the base game, whereas vanilla expanded completely overhauls the game and adds new features and mechanics to it, they’re really just completely different mods and hard to compare
Haven't seen a mime in a dog's age but the traitor event is every colonist almost guaranteed. Ya know thinking about it haven't seen one since biotech came out... But if you want to see MORE animals then what your tile can provide "biome transitions" will let some adjacent mobs wonder in if the tile next door is different.
On the Bees: I have seen this mod in multiple games, and I will forever be in love with it. For it taught me that we just need to get the right bees... and then: dragons!
IIm so glad to hear your surgery went well I'm sure the rim can agree. P.S. I would absolutely love a series of videos where you went into each of the individual mobs in great detail.
I'm suprise you don't say that Areo Fleet can be use as Dummy Target when you attack the Mechanoid / siege bandit /standing army before attack. Remember they reproduce faster so this good way to use them.
Glad you're doing okay after the surgery. Though you did make sure the surgeon didn't take anything while you were under to sell to the next traveling caravan, right?
Fun idea for a colony Have max xenotype variety on the world, start with a huge ammount of xenotype nullifiers and/or the meins to make more and go forth on your crusade to purify humankind again
Mythology is a great animal pack but recommend restricting balalisk and rot drake. Their side effect causes a bit of lag. The drake makes tons of fermenting mounds ( bad alchol) and basalisk petrified plants dont despawn, so you got to cut the plants after you kill the snake
Hey, I'm one of those two people! I play the full VE suit and a few odd mods on top, never really looked into the alpha mods. Time to rectify this! Had no idea they were losely connected to VE
Small correction, the Qillin from Chinese Mythology is the inspiration for Monster Hunter's Kirin Elder Dragon. Not thr other way around, thoufh to be fair i had to dig for information about this connection.
A method I use to get rid of fleetkind children is sending them via drop pods to other settlements, the colonists get no mood penalties and the factions appreciate the gift
I don't know what just attacked my colony, but there were alpha pikemen, and some dudes that shot like plasma bombs destroying my shields and everything, also some thing that made my pawns go insane and attack each other, even my mechs went insane. Im using anti matter annihilation equipment with some strong bionics on a few pawns, regardless of that i got completely destroyed, i think it's alpha mechs for multiple reasons, i guess next time I'm not going to sit on what's good enough, and just go full on with kraltech or makaitech, and aotc gear when i have this mod installed
For me its going to be groundrunners, Nofail on bad animal handling, easy to handle and get, and once properly trained they will mine and haul stuff for you like to me they make quarry easy cause all you have to do is have a few groundrunners thats been trained dont have any colonists work assigned to the quarry and they will mine the quarry for you witch in turn frees up colonists to do other stuff and they breed pretty fast with a female giving birth to 1-3 babies and then can immidtally get pregnate again and decent gaurd pets while iw ouldnt recommend using them for that as they are better off jsut mining and digging for mountain bases. the only real downside to them is they do eat alot and are more likely to eat colony food than grass or hay. outside of that i consider groundrunners B to A teir and a must have for mountain bases as they can really help speed up the digging of mountain bases
I had No Idea about the bees. I am so going to have to create a customer bee keeper start. I look forward to drop podding my enemies with boomabees as a surprise gift. In the words of a good friend of mine, "Let the hilarity commence!" I'll have to send some people along to watch.
Most people disable mimes? Possibly. I did, eventually. But I disable all "wanderer join" events at scenario start. I started getting wanderers joining even when I knew I'd disabled that core event? I was confused until the guy who auto-joined tried to kill me. Then it made a lot more sense where he came from.
Ya k ow what video I would love to see: how to find the mods you want in steam. Like actually sort through the like several thousand mods to fi d the ones I want.
Key points are the search bar and selecting the version (currently 1.4) to limit to up to date mods. Many mod groups have a relevant collection that gives all the mods part of that family.
i am not sure how there are five different audio master levels in this video but it somehow accomplished that. also didn't pin you to be a rimworld guy, admittedly!
ill say with confidence VE works without AA. but i dunno if AA works without VE great. BUT... not a shot at AA... i just never tried it twithought VE... both are basically a necessity at this point

The editing trick where you take a few words and put them into the discord gif search and stretch the results is not as entertaining or emphasizing as you hoped. The gifs are unrelated and boring. Just some critisism but do something else or do it better
This is definitely a hot take - people say Vanilla Expanded is just a bunch of bloat, but i think the Alpha series is the real bloat. And i feel bad for saying it because the author is a really nice person. Its just such a battle between, "i love genes, so of course i want more..." Versus.. "i have this mod but i feel like im barely using any of it..." Almost like the author is pouring you a favorite bowl of your cereal, but doesn't stop, and you're like dude, i cant eat all this, can you please stop pouring, but he doesn't, he keeps pouring you the cereal until its literally flowing out of the bowl and onto the table, "I thought you said this was your favorite cereal."
First of all, I'm not a nice person ;) But more importantly, I don't believe in bloat. The term is stupid and not valid. Eat all your cereal. ALL OF IT. Long story short, I'm gonna keep adding things.
