An Abandoned Derelict Iron Foundry Works Founded 1800s Explore (Part 1 of 2)

Welcome to my video. Here I explore an abandoned derelict iron foundry works near Preston set on an 8 acre site and waiting to become a small housing estate ! A foundry first came about here around 1800 and expanded over the years. It changed hands around the mid 1800's from what I gather, and became Coupes. In its later years another company called Shakespeare took the reigns and around 2015, after losing a big contract with a car manufacturer, it was time to close its doors and is now earmarked for 80 new homes.
At the end of my video, in part 2, I have added a small clip which shows one of the ladles used in the foundry. It now takes pride of place in the village for all to see as a reminder of days gone by with the foundry being a big part of village life there. Although the place doesn't give much away to what it was anymore you could sense the age and could smell the industry of yesteryear. All in all it had a nice relaxed feeling to it and was a very enjoyable explore. Enjoy.
