  • Three of the strongest climbers in the U.K, Dave Barrans, Matt Cousins and Nathan Phillips head to the magical bouldering forest of Fontainebleau in France. Their mission? Take on some of the hardest boulders in the forest, push each other to the limits and eat lots of cheese. Simple.

    night session are not forbidden. As a magazine you can also take on responsibility and teach the scene respectful handling of nature. by the way, the forest is a nature conservation area

    AFAIK Chalk is forbidden in Bleau, or let's say strongly unadvised. So unless you clean it up very thoroughly you should switch to POF! (a.k.a. colophane/rosin) :)

    • @ML-mm4ii
      @ML-mm4ii 6 лет назад

      Nah. Last time I was there I hardly saw any pof users. Times are changing, I guess.

    • @94franz
      @94franz 6 лет назад

      Haha i know. i dos not mean it is not forbidden. it means that the message is not passed correctly and that people in general don;t give a sh.t. the fact is that using chalk makes the rock very slippery on the long term. and this is not reversible (chemical reaction). that's it, future generations will climb on "soap"...

    great video content in all these videos...but all the "it's like cool n like yea it's good like uh.." is rather a downgrade to the films. I'm aware that's the culture though

  • @coolguitarchannel
    @coolguitarchannel 6 лет назад +1

    Poorly made video. Too much slow motion. Too many shots from on top of the boulders. I want to see the whole climb, not an awkward downward shot. And way to much interviewing. I want to see climbing, not interviews of people I’ve never even heard of. And no names or grades of the problems? Come on.

    • @volodigital8875
      @volodigital8875 6 лет назад +2

      coolguitarchannel. Names and grades of the climbs are at the end of the film. Feedback noted. Anything else? Also the climbers names are at the start. Should help you in figuring out who they are.

    • @coolguitarchannel
      @coolguitarchannel 6 лет назад +1

      Sure the names and grades might be at the end of the video, but it would be much more convenient for the viewer to have them be coupled with the actual footage, like most climbing videos have them. And when I say people I’ve never heard of, surely you know that I mean people that I’ve never heard of prior to watching the video. I thought that was pretty obvious. And it’s not like they’re saying anything that profound anyway. It mainly consists of them saying how amazing Font is, which everyone says. Instead of having fairly irrelevant climbers (within the grand scope of the climbing community) telling the viewers that, you should spend more time showing it. Showing over telling. That is the purpose of filmmaking right?

    • @volodigital8875
      @volodigital8875 6 лет назад +4

      coolguitarchannel it was a stylistic choice that myself and the climbers agreed on to leave the grades and names of climbs out to encourage viewers to do a little research about areas around Font and scope it out for themselves, so they could maybe find other areas and climbs that they would wish to try. Also the film whilst you are correct in some aspects is more about there team ethos and how they approach climbs as a unit apposed to an individual. Something that is quite unique to witness with international competitive level climbers as they regularly compete on the World Cup circuit together. Also your “irrelevant climbers” comment is quite rude given that these athletes work exceptionally hard all year round and represent the sport to one of the highest levels, so maybe learn some manners on that front. Not everyone can work with Alex Megos or Jan Yoger. You have touched on a couple of aspects of filmmaking but sadly there is a lot more that goes into than you think. I appreciate your feedback on this and I’m glad that it’s accrued this reaction as that is the main goal in any visual media for the audience to engage, be it in your case negative or positive.

    • @bedewest
      @bedewest 6 лет назад +3

      Poorly made is a bit harsh but if it's going to be called "Wild Lines" I do expect it to be about named climbs/lines when they're shown, not people and interviews.

    • @jackchrisevans
      @jackchrisevans 5 лет назад +4

      coolguitarchannel interesting that you don’t like the video for those reasons. I find it makes the video way more enjoyable when you get to hear from the climbers and their process of working the route etc. if it was just 20 mins of people climbing boulder problems with no context that would be way more boring for me.
