Great podcast. Both Browns have such authenticity and aren’t afraid to be themselves. I am still angry and disappointed that Drew was fired. He very much became GPC for me (maybe that was why he was fired?). Anyway, ordered a pen from Joost and it came to Australia is less than 4 days. I am not even sure how that’s possible.
You guys are the reason it is so very easy to care deeply. You are consistently you and you consistently add value to my life. I carry all of you with me and return whenever you post anything. I enjoyed the show and I appreciate your being here for me. Thank you all.
I just gotta say, the Brown “brothers” are awesome! Drew, I am super hopeful for your future, and I cant wait to hear what the universe has in store for you! Stephen, always entertaining ….. Yoost thank you so much for having both of them! GREAT DUO!@!!🎉
What a great community. Although an artist my whole life, I found fountain pens only a year ago. You three helped get me up to speed, and your humor and authenticity made the experience exceptional. Fountain pens are now a part of my EDC kit, and the people these pens attract daily have made life very colorful. What a bunch of freaks! Thanks! My favorite brown ink is an umber to complement the plethora of siennas out there. It’s Motor Oil by Robert Oster, and favorite brown pen is an Edison. I appreciate you guys.
And of course now we know that Retro 51 bought Farnheys (i think that's how it's written) and Drew will lead that brand/shop! and if he talks about professional ink with personality like he did today, that shop will sell a lot of brown ink!
This podcast has been fantastic so far! Brown ink. ….. its one of my favorites. MY favorite brown ink is probably Montblanc Toffee Brown. Although a close runner up would be SBRE Brown, or FWP Curious Woods, Writing Desk, i love Brown inks!
This channel is one of my very favorites, This week was Thoroughly Enjoyable with GREAT GUEST. On an another note my favorite Brown Ink is Levenger Cocoa. Favorite Fountain Pen 2016 (mostly brown) Brown/Gold Pen is Visconti Opera Master Gold Dust Limited Edition Fountain Pen #29/60. Thank You the 3 Brown's 😃 and to all of your continued success.
I ordered my second bottle of SBRE Brown ink not long ago. I love it! My favourite brown ink by a city block. I especially like using it for flex writing.
I couldn’t make the live but LOVE watching the playback!! What a FUN and spontaneous video…I am now following Appleboom and I truly enjoyed seeing you with SBREBrown and Drew! I love the dynamics of you guys! I hope to see y’all all together in the future! PS…I’m LOVE LOVE brown inks and always have at least (usually 2) pens with a brown. I do love SBREBrown and would love a larger bottle (if it wasn’t too expensive!) I hope you guys will come up with an excellent DrewBrown ink…with good good shading… I’ve been using Monteverde Pumpkin Cake…on some papers it’s a dark bloody brown but on some papers it’s a bit reddish brown 🤷🏼♀️ anyway, Thank you Joost! For hosting this! Drew Brown was definitely what drew me here 😜 and I’m glad to be subscribed and following Appleboom now 😊I love your IG feed! You’re very handsome too ;) Congratulations to Drew for his new job path and I’m so happy to see you shining again. Your smile is contagious 😁
greetings from Malaysia, Ìm Fergus Lim, I certainly enjoyed this vid and had a lot of laughs, I was one who was rather upset when Drew was no longer with gpc but I was rather happy now that he's back online... he could talk on any subject and I'll be there to watch...
@1:08:42 … got fired!!! Really??? Such a same, Drew! I absolutely believe you have a lot to still give to the fountain pen world! And I am happy to hear that you are on board for something new in this direction. I am looking forward to the latter! All the best, mate!!!
Let me ring that doorbell to say the opposite: this 'wallpainting' is fantastic! I started watching because of the fountain pens, but I got so much more than I expected. Thanks!
I’ve never been a fan of Brown. I think in my entire life, I have had two brown dresses and a pair of hip hugger brown velvet bellbottoms. While wearing one of the dresses I was told “never wear it again because the color looks terrible on you”. I am a fan of brown eggs and the Brown Brothers. This was a great podcast even though Joost was frozen. One thing that sparked my interest in brown ink was the fact that it looked like aged antique black ink. I especially love it on cream paper. A local Pen store recommended a black ink called ‘Antique Black’ by GUITAR,an old Japanese ink company. It leans brown, and I find it quite attractive. I have been looking for a true Brown ink, but haven’t found one I loved enough to order. I do love Amber and have been tempted to purchase several of the Benu offerings. I have noted some of the recommendations you all mentioned today. I tend to prefer saturated inks and I haven’t gotten into sparkles much and especially early on I felt that shading was a detractor rather than something something love. I still haven’t quite caught onto that. I don’t care too much as long as I can read the words on the page. Thank you again you 3! it was great. Very funny. had some good laughs and appreciate your honesty and sincerity.❤🦊
I grew up in New Mexico and now live in Arizona. While I love the desert southwest, I have to admit the landscape (and every yard I have ever lived in and every playground my kids grew up in) is brown--the color of dirt (grass does not grow here.) I associate the color brown with dirt, and there is so much more to the desert southwest! Cactus and Pine Trees are green! Desert Willows and Prickly Pear Cactus have pink flowers! I have evolved to associate brown inks with wood and adobe bricks and chocolate. So, now I have a lot of brown inks and have chosen grey inks to be my latest annoyance, and I attribute that to HGTV design trends and hospitals.
Fun show. Thanks you guys! A lot of the brown inks tend to wash out, and can be hard to read. I tend to favor darker browns (sepia?), maybe Graf Von Faber Castell Congac, MB Toffee Brown and Sheaffer Brown, work for me, visually.
I like that Chromatics Brown, Robert Oster Astorquiza Rot also and of course MontBlanc Purdy and Sons cognac scented ink I would tag to your list of Brown inks. Maybe we can agree to call it Moose Juice for some special Brown SBRE inks for the Professor from Red Deer's special formulation. Hahaha. Brown ink was in the 90's a common executive use ink I would see in use in personal notes and signatures....when I was exclusively a green ink user (allowed in the 80's for DND security notes) for several years.
As an English teacher, green has been used to indicate that a paper has been moderated, I.e. re-marked. I often grade papers with noodles sunset or purple.
I think it would be fun seeing pen reviews after one shot, a second shot, maybe more ....recalling the WKRP episode where Johnny Fever is being tested on air for his reflex and response times as come under the influence of alcohol. The comedy was in seeing his responses improve as his tester officer becomes intoxicated. It is amazing at a pen show what pens I may buy at the bar that I may or may not regret the next morning along with the hangover.
Great show, guys! Too bad that YT didn't notify me when it was live... Now the letters are black and I can hardly see what I'm writing. YT must be having some technical issues 'write' now.
Robert Oster Bronze and Sailor Rikyu Cha is the browns that works for me. Otherwise i like the idea of browns but when I write with them I get bored and emty it out, Same with blue I never buy a straight blue ink.
How can I hear the video in the original language please? I'm spanish but the translator's voices are terrible (they translated the names also 🤣🤣 so Brown is Marrón) and I prefer to listen to the original speakers anyway. Is there something I can make to put that back?
But youtube now has this new feature and if you watch it from a different country or your configuration is in a different language, you can only listen it in that language. I don't find a way to change that.
Also...100% im going to put your videos on as im working Stephen. From the beginning with your Minuskin parker 51s to serious nibbage to stoicism. We'll see how long it takes.
Missed Drew, glad to see him back on the screen! Looking forward to his content and his genuine spirit 🥳 did not know about Stephen before and will see to purchase his 🟫 ink
Same here. I have unfollowed them and stopped buying from them. It’s hard too because their selection was incredible. But, I have standards, beliefs and expectations. They no longer meet them.
Stephen, your analogy of knocking on some stranger's door to insult them is not quite right. As Drew mentioned, *you* might not know the people commenting on your videos, but they know you (or at least they feel like they do) through your videos; they might have been seeing you every week for years, even though you have never met them. So, you should not be that surprised they feel familiar enough with you to comment.
Congrats to Drew Brown on the new position! I’m so excited for you and the pen community!!!
Thank you for having Drew Brown on! His laugh is infectious!😊. I wish him all the happiness in the world 🌎!
Joost, Stephan, and Drew, what a great pen day!! Thank you guys, keep it up!!

It was an honor to be on a show with the Browns! Glad to read your package arrived so quick and safe!
It’s Drew! 🎉❤ And so good to see Stephan as well! Thanks to Joost for hosting this!
Suggestion for Drew’s diamine set:
1) Golden Syrup Brown
2) Pepperoni Red
3) Denim Jacket Blue
Banana Bread Brown.

Tbf, Doug is good fun, along with many of the other co-presenters. 😀
Great podcast. Wishing Drew all the best in his future endeavors.
Good to see Drew, great episode
This was so fun. I laughed out loud several times. The Browns need to get together more often; their interplay is magic.
Great podcast with great personalities. I have a bottle of SBRE Brown ink, which is my favorite brown. Hard to find, but fun to use.
Both Browns! What a rare treat.

What a wonderful show, so very enjoyable I did not catch the live version but this was equally entertaining. Thanks Joost for doing this
sbrebrown is my favorite brown ink; it is a lovely warm golden brown. I will buy more when I finish the bottle. Brown gives writing a vintage look.
Lovely bottle, too 🤎
@@Vovvilina And you have to love the little ink reservoir with marble to make filling pens easy even when little ink is left.

I almost always have two pens inked with SBRE Brown ink. A flex pen and a cursive Italian. Just love that ink.
The contrast between the personalities of you guys is highly entertaining. Curly, Moe and Larry!
Love the duo
PS: Loved the laugh track, and I hope someone sends Dr. Brown a sampler to use during his YT videos
