Yes, Roberto Vally rocks! Knows his stuff, too. Nice to see guests, especially really good ones like Mr. Vally. 🎸🎶👍
Makes you really appreciate the genius of Mr. Fender. 60 years later, still the iconic bass along with the P. Great playing by one of legendary bassists! Thank you Roberto and Norm!
Wow! The perfect illustration of how the mutes affect the sound. And as I always say, then you hear someone like this you really can appreciate that even though they call them bass guitars they really are different instruments that require a whole different thought process.
that lovely bridge mute flat-wound J bass sound!
Holy cats, that playing! Roberto Vally has been added to the playlist, thanks to Roberto and to Norm...
this is my favorite Fender Jazz Bass of ALL TIME
Yeaa KINFOLK YEAAAAAA!!
I enjoyed this one very much, lots of great info about the guitar and why it sounds like it does, something guitar of the day has been missing for a while now. It would have been interesting to restring it with round wounds to hear the difference in tone, but a great video, and of course, Roberto is such a talent!
Norm you're a true visionary and one of a kind man thank you 🙏💯❤️
Beautiful instrument, man. And I love that Fender sunburst finish. It's a piece of art really.
This was real class and what a gorgeous 1962 Jazz🥂
Heck yes! Thank you for this! Me, in all of my ignorance, had no idea who he was until Lemmo played with him the other day; he is amazing! Thanks for bring sir Roberto back!
My Lord Norm… you are so dang knowledgeable.., and the mental history vault you possess… incredible sir! Incredible!
He made sure to interrupt the other guy when he was explaining it so you’d hear him relating his Wikipedia knowledge.
Awesome bass being played by an awesome bass player.
Very nice demo Roberto.
What a beautiful mute sound. I love it so much!
Love this ! ❤
Nice to see Roberto back! Very cool!
62 the year of my birth!!
I love his playin 😎
😎 Thanks Jen, Roberto ⚓️
Really has that organ tone to it. Great playing boss
Thank you for asking Roberto to play this wonderful bass; I now have saliva all over my keyboard. LOL Loved hearing Just The Two of Us isolated like that; never really "heard" it until now.
Hang tags in the case. Tick. Norm’s happy.
wow he has MAD GROOVE! Scotts Bass Lessons should host him on their channel
The theme for Barney Miller would sound great on this '62 I think.🤔
The mutes sound great. Makes you wonder why Fender didn’t add the same mute set up some of the offset guitars had to the jazz bass.
I had a very clean white ‘62 Jazz Bass that I bought back in ‘78 for $750 and put it on layaway.
norm's the man
Thats dope its still even well padded here how Leo intended it to to be
John Paul Jones has that same 62 three knob Jazz Bass.
Nice demo !
First guy i thought of with a Jazz Bass like this was Mel Shacher from GFR then Jaco. Nice bit with the history. I saw Weather Report at Winterland for Heavy Weather, Al DiMeola opened. Pretty great ;)
Bobby Caldwell,,,'71 i hear Johnny Winter And Live. Loved it.
Later, the hit. Liked it but not enough to investigate.
Silly me, it was two different guys !.
I prefer memories of Hearing JWAL as a kid.
Just about the epitome of electric bass. Leo sure built them right.
Mike Ehrmantraut turns out to be an awesome bass player
Demis Roussos play on Fender Jazz bass 1962
looking at the decal the 'JAZZ' bit appears to be missing. Wonder what's happened there
There is a bass, there is a sting and a suitable suit. :)
Sweet looking bass. It’s a shame that RUclips compresses the bass so much, you can barely hear it. I have the same problem with my own music
What year did Fender switch out form stacked knobs?
True story ... I have a neighbor who took his son to his first concert , it was a Def Leppard concert ... He said he asked for coffee at the concessions stand and they said they did not have any ... He asked them why and they said because you are the only one who wants it lol
say hello to your dog for me lol
That’s the John Paul Jones bass! In early Zeppelin pictures you can see that he left the mutes on for a bit. We can hear it too on Zeppelin’s debut album and on early ‘69 bootleg recordings. He projected a very upright-y sound while coming through his 360’s. Rotosound flats he used as well. He loved Ray Brown and it can be heard! Here we are some 50 years later and people are still having trouble figuring out the sht he played. Nothing like a ‘62 slaberoo! Nothing.
upload in 4k please..
Roberto they have lessons at Normans as well
Awesome work Roberto! Beautiful bass too! However! Gotta do a Maton!
Bass Porn!!!! and what a player!
I think we found a cure for Jens heavy breathing on Thumping Thursday's lol
Turn up that amp!
Wasn't the '62 a stacked knob bass?
I’m pushin’ 60 years old and I think I have more buckle rash than.....o,k. TMI.....sorry 😕!
Sounds like a P bass…
