After receiving numerous requests to do a proper comparison between some of the most popular guitar profilers, in this video I do just that. I let you hear audio examples comparing Tonex, N.A.M, Quad Cortex and Kemper to the real amp utilizing the same volume matched re-amp track so you can hear in detail which one you feel comes closer to the real thing. I really hope you enjoy this look at these different profile solutions and how they compare to the real amp.

Kemper is the one that sounded the most different from the real amp to my ears. But, they all sounded great. The obsession some dudes have over the 1% of accuracy between the capture tech is silly. Just pick the one that has the feature set, workflow, and UI that works best for you and you're golden.

I think the TONEX was the most indistinguishable from the real amp from what I hear on the headphones. I felt the Kemper was the furthest sounding. The quad cortex midrange was slightly different, the Nam was close. For me in order of who does it best:
    Real amp
    1. Tonex
    2. Nam
    3. Quad
    4. Kemper
The tonex I think really nailed the low end and the midrange. probably 95% there IMHO.

Quad Cortex and ToneX sound closer to the real amp than the Kemper to me. Amazing that the ToneX is so close at a fraction of the price of the others.

They were all close enough for me that I wouldn't care. I'd be happy with any of them. Nice sounding amp !

I thought all but the Kemper sound identical or darn close to the real amp. Kemper was the only one that caught my ear thinking, that's not quite the same. Not that's it's bad, just slightly different. Thanks for the comparison!

My pleasure! Yeah, I had similar thoughts!

Great video! The Tonex, NAM, and QC were really good. The Kemper sounded just wee bit off. Crazy how good this tech is. No one could tell a difference in a mix/gig.

To my ears, they were all very true to the real lamp except for the Kemper, which sounded like it didn't have quite the sparkle on the top end as the original...

They all sound pretty good. I actually preferred tone the least on this one . Some kind of fizz or lack of tightness on the end especially. Most different was tonex and Kemper to my ears. But the Kemper was a pleasant different to me. I own all of them and a fractal fm9. The fractal and Kemper get the most use due to the incredible versatility and effects. Nam is a clear winner in terms of accuracy. But there is no all in one top notch multi effects live board. For me in, live use the Kemper and fractal are current winners. Or a midi controlled dual tonex analog board could be pretty amazing.

Sorry listened to all on LAP TOP ...not in STUDIO rn but like you mentioned, "All are usable" The "KEMPER" has more Low End Beef coming form Palm Muting more than the REAL AMP is what I heard. Hopefully I'll listen later through Monitors. Great Job Jason as aways! George Amodei :)

Tonex is a clear winner here. Still not 100% there, but 99.5% accurate, indistinguishable in a blind test. Still keeping my amp for studio, but touring with Tonex is a no-brainer

Tonex and NAM sounded the closest. QC was not bad, but not as close. In the long examples, the Kemper seemed off and quite different--almost boxy.

I... cant tell the difference. Shit.
Is there any chance that these are all the same? What's the likelihood that this is a fake?
    ;-)
This was an awesome comparison! Thank you for making this! It must have taken a lot of work to put this together. I did hear a slight difference on the kemper... but... it was stupid subtle and my ears aren't able to verbalize what they are hearing.
    Thanks again!

Haha kemper is so off 😂
BTW NAM is first, then ToneX (most accurate but less ooomph), and QC is ok but not as good for sure.
    Thanks ❤

Helix doesn't do amp captures so couldn't be used for this comparison.

Thanks for that… I thought Kemper had a fuller with more mid to low saturated bass (on my phone!).

It NOT clear if you used a real cabinet or a digital cabinet.

Yes, a real cab was used for these examples.

Wow, the real amp sounds way better than any of these. So much more dynamics and detail. We're not there yet with digital.
