- We took the "Grand" tour at the historical Winchester Mystery House. If you're in the bay area you should stop by and visit. The mansion is beautiful and you can't really capture it in video. Just took the Explore More Tour last week, They have opened 40 new rooms. It was facinating.
Hate the people who decided to section off cool looking areas of the house

For someone who's been on the tours (which I have) this is a great "review" video. One thing that was off the tour (maybe--or if we saw it inside from below then I missed it) that particularly attracted my attention for some reason when I was there is the light-well or whatever it's called that's painted blue inside, seen in the video at 6:01-6:04 and 6:18-6:21.
One of my favorite aspects of the house is the windows: the huge variety in their size, shape, usage and placement (low, high, rows, columns, grids, roof, floor(!), inclined), how they opened (almost all are operable), materials used (stained glass, arrangements of panes, etc). Going nuts with windows (and stairways) would be a top priority if I were building a house like this.

oh how I wanted to take those stain glass windows that were never used home with me. also that wonderful bed in her bedroom. also because she was short like me those stairs were a blessing to someone who had a bum knee and bad back when i visited

Such a weird place but fascinating, and the story behind it too. I'd be too curious in a place like that, I'd want to explore behind all the roped off sections and see the place in it's entirety!

+rumwomenandguns I wish I could go there. I fell in love with this house ever since I saw this mansion for the first time on TV. I was wondering, why are most of the hallways roped off? Is it because the hallways are too dangerous? Do they lead to private offices? Or are they under renovation?
And why are the separate building closed off like "The Foreman's House" and "The Fruit Drying Shed"?
Thanks for watching! I'm guessing it's roped off in some areas to keep the people on tour more concentrated. Their likely to wonder off. The outbuildings are closed off by they open some of them up when you on the "grand" tour. I plan on going back soon. I have 2 other videos of the mansion as well. Great Video, thanks for the upload. We went there just before last Xmas its decorated great for Xmas. We went during a weekday and there were hardly anyone there. If you are not driving its easy to get to by public transport. We got the Caltrain from San Fran to Santa Clara station then bus to the Winchester It was a good day trip We enjoyed it heaps. I wish I could have gotten video or picture inside the house but we were not allowed on our tour.

From this point of view it seems like a beautiful and peaceful place, not haunted, cursed or anything like this (maybe the spirits are trying to fool me?) and funeral march playing in the background makes it even better

they use to sell vhs tapes of the tour but stopped 89
and now you cant video tape at all , well maybe cell phones a pic here and there
but no full tour i knew some who got there cell phones taken away for 2 weeks , i still have the vhs tape when the tour was taken no one else was a around no one and no lines , the person filming did talk the video is 1 hour and 2 mins long

I just visited, the house was closed for the day, from the outside I recorded and in one of the windows, I saw a strong reflection flashing colors on the outside, I took video and pictures, showed them to my husband and kids they were waiting in the car, they didn’t care to see them at the moment. Driving off? Hours later I was going thru the pictures and videos, I saw that the reflection on the window is a Code? Map? Clearly shows something and in the window inside a Dark figure shadow of what looks like Sarah ? I can’t understand it, if anyone can please HELP. I felt a strong energy and know this is something, that wants to be showed? I posted a few videos on here and on TikTok and all my social media, I hope I can have someone Help me, It’s Crazy and scary. WHAT IF ITS SARAH SPIRIT SHOWING ME A MAP? PLEASE HELP if you can 🙏🏼

There's a lot that's roped off but there's also a lot that isn't. I thought it was a good balance. They opened up a new area of the house, I haven't been there to see it yet.

Great vid. I'm no gun enthusiasts but I do like the tale of the building of this mansion. I know that Winchester riffles were is issued to Union Soldiers during our Civil War, and Winchester riffles were dubbed " The riffle that WON the west. Could some gun enthusiasts please tell me if Winchester riffles were single shot where the user had to pack and prime each shot to be fired, or were they multi shot capable with like a bullet clip? Or did the history in its R and D dept go from single shot to multi shot over time? Thanks, also did they make pistols too? Like I said I'm no gun enthusiasts but I would like to know about the product and its history. Just here to learn.

However, I do like the history of these weapons... And do full heartfully embrace the U.S.A's 2nd Amendment that the states that the Peoples' Right to Keep and Bear Arms Shall Not Be Infringed...No matter the technology!

We went right before Halloween and we didn't have any problems with it being too busy and pulled in the parking lot and found plenty of parking.

so is there an admission fee? how does it work, free roam of the house til you've seen it all?
The prices range from $34-$44. There's 2 choices for the tour. The standard and the grand tour. We took the grand tour. It's more money but you get more out of the tour. You go on a guided tour with a group of maybe 20 people. I took my time and stayed behind. But if you want to hear the history then stay with the guide. I read up on the history before so I didn't mind not hearing the guide speak about the Mansion. The tour is pretty rushed so don't fall too far behind, you may get lost.

Rich Basted I didn't see any ghost. And the only thing close to trap a trap door was the the door to no where.
That door to nowhere is actually very practical. Sarah Winchester was from New Haven CT. Big snows in the winter and it helps to have access to the upper floors for supplies, etc. You also had small rooms for heating. I grew up in a big 200 year old New England farm house that had a door like this. They are also referred to as the funeral door, they would lower the casket out this door.

I've always passed by the billboard driving toward the bay area as a kid. And I've wanted to visit but we could never afford it. So as an adult I made a point to finally see it. And it's absolutely worth it! Videos don't do the place justice. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it :)

The idea of me making the video was to show people what the mansion looked like. I think it's beautiful. The idea of the mansion was that Sarah Winchester was paranoid and afraid of the spirits that died from all the Winchester rifles/guns, that she kept building and adding on to the mansion to confuse them. +orogu7 The tour is very rushed. I tried to stay behind to get the footage. At the very beginning of the tour the guide said no pictures or video. So I I did my best. Sorry. Real life is the best way to see anything. See it in person if you can. I missed so much because I was worried about the camera. I'm going back without it to see it again.
