The actor who played Mr Body his name is Lee Ving, And after he read the script, he started laughing, and said, I guess I’m not going to be in the movie that long. Get it leaving

Someone told me you got a different ending depending on your showing, or theatre? I can't remember which. Either way, that must have been a neat experience to see all the endings like that!

When this was shown in the theaters, you only got one ending but there were three versions of the movie out there. So if you saw it in one theater, your friend at another theater you got different endings. When this was put on VHS they included all 3 endings in this format.

That's a genius way to get people talking and potentially sell more tickets while it's in theatres. I love when movies do that, it makes it more fun!

@CocktailFlicks if only it had worked. The movie bombed and wasn't well reviewed either. I think it was ahead of its time because now it's quite popular and well liked

19:50 if you watch closely mr green takes off his glasses and straightens at the site of the chief.
Also, earlier wadsworth says the police will arrive in 45 min. I believe if you time it, it is exactly 45 min from the time he says this till now in the movie when the chief rings the doorbell. So much to catch on Re-watches. Always a fun movie to put on.

    Such a Fun movie.
I remember i rented it because of the Names on the DVD package.
Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry And the wonderful Madeline Kahn.
I Bought the DVD years later with the option of choosin to play the 3 endings in Random order.
Another Fun Murder mystery comedy is Murder by Death (1976)
Eileen Brennan (Peacock) has also a big part in that movie, along with some other great actors from that time period.

So, I see this in theaters at the time of release. The 3 endings were released as 3 movies. I was only able to see endings B and C, which were Scarlet and Peacock. When you bought your ticket, they have you a clue sheet, kind of like one from the game, to try to keep track. But the movies were so chaotic that it was hard to keep track of the clues. I only saw the lady ending once it came out in home media.
The multiple endings thing was what killed this with movie goers and critics. Where I had a great time and wanted to see all three, most people didn't. It was only after its release on home media that it got the change to shine. It's a cult classic now for a reason. It was that good.
Although the cast didn't get to improvise at all, Madeline Khan's blooper of the "Flames on the side of my face" made the director laugh enough that he kept it in.
I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to watch a great comedy. The cast was perfect, and Tim Curry was at his peck. I almost would like to see how Carrie Fisher would have done as Mss. Scarlet, but she had to drop because of drug rehab. Her doctors didn't think it was a good idea for her to leave early to do the movie.

I always thought that Mr. Green was an FBI agent working a known blackmail case - probably thinking someone was blackmailing people with government secrets. So he set himself up to appear gay and jumpy and essentially an easy target in order to make himself bait for the blackmailer - who obviously took it. Everything about adorable Mr. Green was a long undercover con. And I love that.

Cheers (but not the cognac, just in case)! I do love a good trope subversion. Who done it? Well, in terms of the blackmail and murdering the singing telegram girl (Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go’s), the butler _who wasn’t really the butler_ done it. 😄
Such a great ensemble cast. Nice attention to detail as well. The layout of the house matches the game, including the secret passageways. The colors of the guests’ cars even match their game pieces.
In case you didn’t realize it, the person posing as Mr. Boddy is Lee Ving of the band FEAR.

What's more, the Hall has a checkerboard pattern, and each guest has something emblematic of their color EXCEPT Green (the only one who was truly innocent and the one who killed Mr. Boddy).
      Mustard - His tie
      White - Coat Interior
      Peacock - Headpiece
      Plum - Bowtie
      Scarlet - Coat Ruff

I listen to this and rap, punk, soul, pop, yacht rock, classic rock, movie soundtracks and whatever else while riding around the yard on my mower. It's dangerous to my grass.
