That's impressive for a $380 Gaming PC. I built a similar PC for $400 with a Ryzen 5 3600 and RX 5700 XT using mostly used parts and deal hunting.

Oooh nice. That's a much better deal than the one I ended up making.

My first "powerful" PC was a 2016 laptop that cost me 600$. A month later my friend showed me his build, 300$ desktop and it proceed to beat mine to the ground. I mainly on desktop now, but I still need the laptop for office stuff. If the laptop broke, I'll just grab some cheap thinkpad for 100 or 200 dollar and call it a day

At the high-end laptops are actually reasonably competitive if you shop around. GPU prices are insane and laptops often are cheaper. Also, people forget to factor in peripherals when comparing PC costs.

@@LaFonteCheViAt the high end the specs are very far from 1:1. A 4090 laptop GPU is extremely far from a desktop 4090. Moreover ironically enough, on the high end GPU value seems to go up at least in current year, go figure. You're right about peripherals, but you'd also have to in that case factor that laptops are not modular and most components cannot be changed out, only RAM and storage usually. A PC you can sell an existing component and put that towards the new component, on a laptop you are stuck with the system. Depreciation is much higher, and upgradability makes you buy a new system. If you put aside the names and only look at performance, you will in fact pay a lot more for a laptop that does the same performance of what a desktop does, especially at the high end. Then there's longevity, laptops typically run way hotter and do not last as long as desktops. It's not uncommon for desktops to last decades of consistent use. Even if a component goes out, you have the ability to replace it. Laptops do have their place, but value is not where they excel.

Even though laptop hardware has basically caught up to desktop hardware. When you think about it is insane. Is very thermally limited. I honestly don't know why they don't just take those chips and throw them in desktops.

I feel like high end CPUs are too power heavy and make too much heat, so I keep putting off upgrading my motherboard/cpu because of the 4790 working well enough (non-k is only $40-50 on ebay now wow)

I feel like you either have been scammed or you are lying in the title. I recently got the ROG Strix G16 with i9 13980HX and 4070 for 1870€ but you somehow got generation old hardware for the same/more money???

For the longest I could literally not understand why Mac people kept buying MacBooks. Their performance is absolutely garbage. That was until they came out with the M2 and M3 laptops. They got some kinks to work out with the M3 but it's on an entirely different level. Once they work out all those kinks. A buddy of mine bought a MacBook and made it his windows machine because he said it was faster than his current laptop with a 10th gen i7 in it. Well, I think he's dual booting actually. Because he does use a couple of applications that's only feasible on Mac OS

That was a lot of number vomit. Please put those numbers on the screen when you're saying them. I got lost so easily. It's the 1% lows and the point 1% lows that tell the story of how your gaming's going to go. My main focus is to keep it from stuttering as much as possible. The less stutter is the better session I have.
