One of the big points, at least until very recent model years, most large vans (Fiat Ducato, Ford Transit, not sure about Mercedes Sprinter) have very unreliable automatic gearboxes because they use a robotic clutch system rather than a torque converter that's very common on cars. My partner and I own a Fiat Ducato and when doing research before buying, it seems like 90% of the problems that van encounters is due to the extremely unreliable automatic option. I've also got a friend who had to refurbish their gearbox on a Ford Transit due to this type of issue. Just something to consider if you plan to keep the van for a while.
