I don’t remember if it was in the songs from long ago. I do remember as new songs came thru, my head would start hurting as I tried to make it make sense. Many questionable phrasings were there all along.

Why do you think disfellowshipped ppl will now be called "removed ones"? Why can you now (after decades of the opposite) greet a disfellowshipped person? Why did the rules concerning the judical process become less harsh? ...So the Watchtower will not lose anymore tax dollars from losing their religious organization tax-exemption status because of the inhumane way JWs disfellowship members. Ironically, however, this raises a question: Since, as the epistle says, the spirit’s anointing ‘teaches’ consecrated Christians, resulting in ‘no need to be taught’ by mere humans, what are we to say for other religions, the majority of whose members do claim such anointing? After all, these other religions have their theological seminaries and missionary colleges. It would appear that the very existence of such institutions is a tacit admission that there is no such thing as the holy spirit. Otherwise, there would be no need for such institutions.
Granted, the Society claims that the holy spirit is a lifeless, impersonal “active force”. Indeed, to borrow from the title of one of the Society’s books, that spirit is said to be “the Force Behind the Coming New Order”. (That book from 1976 remains available on the Society’s website.) On the other hand, most Christians claim the the holy spirit is absolutely a person. Indeed, to borrow their language, that spirit is said to be “the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity”.
It would be only logical to reject “teaching” from a lifeless, impersonal “force”. Strangely enough, though, the Society teaches as much only to refer to itself (1985-2019) as “God’s spirit-directed organization” in the second question asked of immersion candidates at its assemblies. How can one claim direction from something lifeless and impersonal?
If, however, the holy spirit be a person, why claim anointing of “him” only to reject “his” teaching by constructing and utilizing such institutions as colleges and seminaries for the purpose of sending out evangelists (the transliteration of the koíne Greek term for “missionaries”) and clergymen?
Clearly, both the Society and Christianity are wrong. Both claim authority from the spirit; yet neither agrees as to the substance thereof. Consequently, each, in its own way, rejects the “teaching” from the holy spirit. And we are left with the question: Is there even such a thing as the holy spirit?

Hebrews ch 10 is explicit wheres as the command is that Christians not set aside coming together for the purpose of encouragement esp during the difficult end times.
There is neither a need nor a requirement for the existence of any church institution(s) of indoctrination, as God does not abide in man made structures, furthermore, teaching belongs to Holy Spirit for all those reborn of the Spirit.

Rather than accept your pathetically simplistic definition of a cult, I prefer that of Stephen Hassan, a PhD qualified expert and former cult member who devised the BITE model, a methodology that's used to objectively identify the nefarious behaviours of cults. JW practices unequivocally conform to the "BITE" model i.e. Behavior Control, Information Control, Thought Control, Emotional Control. With very few exceptions, almost every criterion within each of these categories can be attributed to Jehovah's Witnesses.
Unlike most religions, the JW cult prohibits its members from leaving (via psychological coercion and indoctrination) and encouraging them to disconnect themselves from non-JW friends, family and society at large. They also discourage higher education (Information & thought control). Being a member of a mainstream religion is perfectly compatible with living a normal life. To JWs, the cult and its leaders are your life. The JW cult is infinitely more restrictive, totalitarian, authoritarian, dogmatic and isolating than most other religions. Now go and study the BITE model and stop embarrassing yourself on a public forum.

Wouldn't it make more sense to get one of the graduates to offer a prayer to Jehovah on behalf of the class? Of course, if individuals want to write letters to whoever they could do so but to literally force the classes to write worshipful letters is on another level.
