@@drServitis Yup, def true. If you search "Bill Medley Interview" on RUclips, the 1st one is a vid posted 2015 by KAAB Fox San Antonio. At .042, Bill tells how they got their name from Black Marines from El Toro base (wish I could put in the link, but RUclips seems to be deleting posts with links). There are actually multiple RUclips interviews, of both Bill & Bobby confirming it, but this one with just Bill pretty well covers it.

Bill Medley (the one with the deep voice) and Bobby Hatfield were the Righteous Brothers. The name was coined when they were playing a gig in Southern California in the early '60s and two black marines came out of the club, saw them outside, and called out, saying, "That was RIGHTEOUS, brothers!" The name stuck.
"Lovin' Feeling" was their big breakout hit after the initial hit, "Little Latin Lupe Lu," which was written by Bill. Their follow-up to "Lovin' Feelin'" was "Just Once In My Life." Then they had two hits with Bobby singing solo, "Unchained Melody" and "Ebb Tide." They changed labels and recorded "(You're My) Soul and Inspiration," and then their star began to fade. By the late '60s, they had broken up. Bill released a solo hit "Brown Eyed Woman," which is excellent. About an interracial relationship, it was written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, who also wrote "Lovin' Feelin'" (with Phil Spector) and "Soul and Inspiration." In 1974, the Righteous Brothers reunited and had one last big hit together, "Rock and Roll Heaven." Years later "Lovin' Feelin'" and "Unchained Melody" became hits again because of their prominent roles in motion pictures.
Bobby died in 2003 soon after the duo was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their induction night performance of "Lovin' Feelin'" is worth watching. Bobby had lost some of his range, but it was still a great performance. Bill now performs as one-half of the Righteous Brothers with a new partner, Bucky Heard. It ain't the same, but it's nice to see him still out there belting out the hits. On some nights, he does his own rendition of "Unchained Melody" as a tribute to Bobby.
As others have mentioned, the 1965 live performance of Unchained Melody by Bobby (in a pink suit) on NBC's The Andy Williams Show is, quite possibly, the most incredible live performance of a song ever captured on video.

Came out in the early 1960's and was played on all different radio stations and genres across the dial (Rock, R&B, Pop, Country, you name it). It was called "panty dropping music" back then and was responsible for making lots of babies then and now. It melts the hearts of young ladies. I've been singing for 40+ years with my lady. With all due respect, I'd like to share my experience. I've been married for 22 years (since I was 17). We had/have a very special love for each other. You can see it in our love letters. We also had a lot of maturing to do. We've been through difficult trials and tests. The worst being the last few years. We lost that "lovin' feeling" over the years. Then at 13 years into marriage, we humbled ourselves and chose to honor each other. Had the marriage we always dreamed of for 6 years. Then the biggest trial hit and we were brought to the brink. It was so hard and terrifying to go through it and think of what we might lose! We lost that "lovin' feeling" again. We pressed on and did not give up! I got on my face and cried out to God like never before. I struggled to humble myself continually and apply biblical principles as I always tried to do. I fought for my marriage and family. My husband responded and humbled himself as well. We acknowledge our lack of wisdom and mistakes. We are slowly restoring our marriage. People need to toughen up, humble themselves, quit being selfish, do what's right, stay committed, and not walk away from a relationship, especially marriage, just because it's gotten difficult and we don't feel the love. My marriage may seem like or even be an exception, but we all have opportunity to grow and learn. We get stronger as we overcome. I think our marriage will be better then ever. That's my admonishment.

“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duet Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 88 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary.
“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin” was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century.
"Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965. Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby's use of "Runs" is brilliant. He is the master of the technique and started the trend. 7 notes just to say the word "I".... Their name came when they did a show in a smaller venue and a black man told them…. You two Brothers are Righteous. They created the sound and set the table that all Soul Music fed from for decades to come.
In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin’ Feelin‘" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

Bobby Hatfield had a beautiful operatic contratenor voice that he used to perfection in the live version he did of Unchained Melody in '65 on the Andy Williams Show.

Crooners starting to scream and cry out was the crack in the door that Elvis squeezed his swivelling hips through. And those hips knocked the door open so wide that the Beatles and all of their long hair could fit through it. Rock got a slow, subtle and gentle start with people simply letting more of the natural emotions out of themselves, without the need to mute or diminish, or make them more socially palatable for others. That what rock was ultimately about. A rebellion against control. And this song ends with them starting to let that control convert to raw emotion.

THIS is why I Love you guys and your reaction videos! Ive heard this song my whole life. And just like Lex's typical reactions to music, I got totally lost in the beautiful voices and sound of it, without ever really digesting just how sad and heartbreaking the song's lyrics are. Brad makes me really listen to the lyrics and dissect their meanings now.

The guys were all being drafted. They couldn’t vvote or buy a beer. They were heading out to Nam and many didn’t come back. This was a really emotional time and this song was about all those emotions. 65 I believe. Totally different reality.

If you've ever heard the song "The Time Of My Life" from the movie Dirty Dancing which is often played at weddings, then you are already familiar with one of the Righteous Brothers. Bill Medley (with the deep voice) is the male vocalist on "The Time Of My Life".
