rewatched not too long ago. the mom was always tired and worn, but she had a huge enough house that all fives of her kids could have separate rooms in, despite being a single parent. she didn’t have a lick of spare time for them kids, let alone to preach to them about washing some dishes
@@Mad-UpperCuts nah in the movie the oldest siblings alluded to calling their dad to ask for some help, but they both just brushed it off like it was fuck him fr.
The children were entitled, bratty, disrespectful, wasteful and more...😊. They needed that type of babysitter, just toned down a bit to be more appropriate.
i can get behind why they would need a strict babysitter...but mrs. Sturak was pretty unreasonable in a lot of ways, essentially sending walter to his room for no reason, and forcing Malissa to "dress like a girl"...not to mention the 360o mood change..calling them nasty names and shouting. she would have to have done alot more than tone down a bit to be apropriate.. usually if somone acts completely different when the parent is out of sight, thats a red flag that they are in it for the wrong reasons.
When I say this movie was the epitome of my childhood as a ‘82 baby 🙌🏾. I wanted my mom and Dad to go on vacation so bad so we can all watch over ourselves like SueEllen and her sibs, but then 🤔…. we realized we could barely survive 5 hours without our authority figures. 😂 Edit: My heart goes out to Christina Applegate and her M.S. illness. She is definitely one of my fav actresses from the 90’s.
R.I.P Christopher Pettiet ( he was Zach the lovestruck sibling). He was one of my childhood crushes and I remember watching this movie over and over because of him 💕
i am now 19 and watching this recap and actually thinking over this movie WHY THE HELL DIDNT THEY JUST TELL THE MOM ABOUT THE BABYSITTER?!!😭like they wouldn't have gone to jail or anything. the lady clearly had a heart attack. a simple call to 911 and an autopsy report would've proven the kids innocent. those kids were terrible tho. like i get being lazy children at a young age, but full on stealing from your mom (and sister) is insane to me. especially after finding out about the embezzlement. y'all still taking advantage of sue ellen even though it was clear she stole the money to feed everybody. and kenny being her twin was crazy too. you mean to tell me your awaken to life was seeing your brother almost die(basically)? i think it was nice to see kenny's growth tho, he still could've experienced his stoner life as a young adult, while still being in school.
Christopher Pettiet who played Zach (the younger brother) sadly died in 2000 and Keith Coogan who played Kenny (the older brother) is the grandson son of Jackie Coogan who played Uncle Fester in the original Addams Family TV series.
I watched the hell out of this movie as a kid. It was on HBO all the time. Yes, you do make some valid points about the other characters, but I wondered if the kids got their acts together after the film. One more thing, Carolyn may have loved what happened, but after being told off by Rose, she wouldn't get a damn thing. That smile didn't last long as her boyfriend's car was trashed by Kenny's friends. So karma bit her in the ass once again.
The movie also served as a vehicle for Christina Applegate while Married With Children was still a hit and she is what really carried this film IMO . And because of her and like i said in an earlier comment it made back twice its budget in a time where Terminator 2 ruled the year
Love this movie tremendously. Takes me back when I was 7 years old watching it on my 12 inch T.V for the first time. As for the next movie you are going to review, it is obviously The Family That Preys. You are absolutely right in saying that was Tyler Perry's last good movie because every film after it got progressively worse.
This movie came out when I was in 4th grade and even at my big age of 42 this is still one of mine and my brother favorite movies. If I’m channel surfing and see it I stop and watch everytime.
So here’s the thing: I was 80s born and 90s raised but I’ve never seen this movie. I want to say I’ve heard of the title but my memory is very vague. Despite the babysitter passing away, despite how the kids behaved, despite the fact that the eldest daughter stole money and lied her way to a job, there was some good to come out of situation. As you mentioned, it forced Sue Ellen and Kenneth to grow up and offered some sort of insight into life in general and their futures. And I do agree that she could’ve worked part time and go to college but seeing how the old lady (babysitter) got up out for good and understanding what her mom went through with them, she wanted to enjoy her freedom. And those were drag queens who stole the babysitter’s car. Very good review! And as for next week’s video, all I’m going to do is wait. I actually like the visual hints even though I didn’t get the one for this week. I’m trying to think of the mother/daughter duo but I’m stuck. I’ve stopped watching Tyler Perry stuff a while ago. See you next Sunday!!
This damn movie lol. One of my childhood faves. Love Sue Ellen, love Rose, hated Carolyn, Gus is a creep, Kenny is a lovable goofball. EDIT: My heart goes out to Christina Applegate. Her dealing with such a debilitating disease like multiple sclerosis is heartbreaking. I wish her good health and good positive energy.
@12:06 "juices start flowing" at 37 years old rewatching this, Gus was more than a creep omg!! The boldness!?! And it totally reminds me of how older men thought they could talk to me that way in the workplace at 17!!
Years ago I found this movie by looking through my moms old Vhs tapes in a box--this had to be like '03-04 when was like 11 or 12 and OMG! I fell in LOVE with this movieeee!!! I watched this so many times!! Christina was and is still beautiful!!! I loved seeing her in this movie!

To be fair, Rose did a direct hire. Not uncommon, especially in the early 90's.

It was because Rose hired her. Not the company.
