The funny thing about the heart of metal pens is that as a big fountain pen fan I know you can get fantastic metal body pens out of china (jinhao x750 being the quintessential example) for $4 a pen. There are many US and European fountain pen companies that are essentially dead husks and they take these pends, rebrand them and sell them for $50 or more. @@karanelson3992 I tried both and didn't like any of them. I use a Samsung Galaxy s8 tablet now and am pretty satisfied with it. The writing experience is somewhat like a fountain pen rather than a ballpoint pen or pencil. I personally like it. The notes app is pretty neat. The main issue with a dedicated electronic notepad like remarkable is that you have to carry it along with at least another device - that will be used for most of your work anyway.
JB, you nailed how the Supernote A5X beats the reMarkable 2. I passed on the RM2 because it looked good but didn’t offer much functionality, then returned the Note Air which was overkill - bloated with apps and a complicated user interface. Supernote A5X offers the best of both worlds - refined apps built for purpose and a simple, streamlined interface to get things done. I’d rather be working on a task than working out how to use the device. By the way, I haven’t seen that tan case before. Which cover type is it?

I would NEVER advise anyone to buy the supernote. I bought one and it's just been terrible. It reminds me and acts like knockoff of something. It's turns off in the middle of written notes and reboots itself. I did a video about it but I counted in the video 10 times it cut on and off on and off on me. It's also hard to transfer your notes to an email or printer. This Supernote costed me 500 dollars plus. It was the WORST buy I ever made in my life! But at your own risk!
If you knew your work was going to give you an iPad that you had to carry around, which e-ink device would you get to compliment it just for notes / book reading?
That is a tough one - reMarkable 2, Papyr, Supernote A5X, Onyx Boox Note Air are the ones I would look at :) I use the iPad - Papyr and either the rM2 or Supernote FYI

I have really enjoyed your videos. Thank you. I do have a question. I have tried most of the popular readers and cannot find one that is a really good ereader. I don't need a writing tool, though it's cool. I like great quality and sleek if that exists. I know the Remarkable 2 fits the build part. What about the new Likebook P10? What do you think might make a good ereader that meets those qualifications? I have tried Onyx more than once and it is not for me.
That is why I don’t like remarkable. The product looks so obsolete compared to other products out there. Yet people but it coz it’s made in US and endorsed in an glorious way
@@jay4239 uhm... remarkable is a Norwegian company with an operations office in HK as its manufactured in Guangdong. As for obsolete? I don’t know. I think it’s designed with a minimal purpose. A bit over priced, that’s all.

With all the marketing, you'd think it were an American company lol. I'm part of the reMarkable group on Facebook. I had mentioned my positive experience with the Super Note compared to the rM2 and I had one guy make a specific post to the public to have me and another person removed. Your reasons to buy to me are reasons to buy the *remarkable*: 1 opens instantly (only) when I press a button, 2 the light fineliner-like stylus with eraser tip instead of a bulky old-school pen, 3 the light, speedy, papery writing feeling, 4 not built with f*ing Android but with robust, open access Linux, NO "apps", 5 c'mon skip that drop-test point, that's ridiculous, 6 "company more like apple" that would be great - high quality hardware
I like your analysis and quick six facts to make a decision, but hacking Linux is totally an absurd statement. According to Computer world, 'Linux is the most secure OS.'
You gave 6 reasons that AREN'T useful when purchasing one over the other. Consider this regarding remarkable2 as of my post: - Screenshare capability to computer using remarkable app - Dropbox integration - Google cloud integration - OneNote integration - On-screen note annotation of documents - Send-to-email capability of edited documents - Pinch to zoom/enlarge functionality - Ability to add 3rd party templates (Look for E-ink) - Top of pen acts "just like an eraser" when making corrections These are just a few factors to consider. Nub wear, drop testing, writing feel, are all superfluous factors NOT TO DETERMINE PURCHASE. Consider the "9" reasons provided for remarkable2 as a more In-depth look at features as opposed to a "superficial review" as was this video (real good use of lighting I have to say, though) 👍🏾

How long will these tablets last? Will they last 5 years.
My oldest tablet, which would be a reMarkable one is about four or five years old it’s still doing all right
I don’t use it as much though I use new ones but it’s still working. I’m sure the batteries probably will be the first to go.
In your video, they're seems to be a large lag in kindle app. Is this true? Also, can it use all kindle functionalities?
Did you ever find out more about this? Trying to figure out which of these devices to get.
The main issue with a dedicated electronic notepad like remarkable is that you have to carry it along with at least another device - that will be used for most of your work anyway.
writing with a fountain pen on a paper is still an unmatched experience ...
I actually agree with this - also love my Mont Blancs
JB, you nailed how the Supernote A5X beats the reMarkable 2. I passed on the RM2 because it looked good but didn’t offer much functionality, then returned the Note Air which was overkill - bloated with apps and a complicated user interface.
Supernote A5X offers the best of both worlds - refined apps built for purpose and a simple, streamlined interface to get things done. I’d rather be working on a task than working out how to use the device.
By the way, I haven’t seen that tan case before. Which cover type is it?
You know I don’t know they sent that tan case with my Review unit
@@morningcoach It looks beautiful. I assume it’s leather? If so, it’s a nice addition to the range - I’m not a big fan of black.
I believe this is the "orange/brown cowhide" ? Option for the cover.
Which of them can be used for presentations on zoom and meet ?
I would look into the paper device you share it via their app
So, liking your video is my daily dose of confirmation bias 😜
HAHAH You rock brother thank you LOL
Thank you, Dr.! It is an objective opinion.
And kobo elipsa?....
Honestly had it and did not like it -
If Jordan Belfort and Tony Hawk had a son...
Tony hawks pretty cool but Jordan Belfort I can’t stand he scamed people out of money. I actually help people I would never do that thanks Yan-- Need to find another person besides Jordan Belfort and I’m all in 😂😂😂👊🏼👊🏼
As a remarkable 2 owner I feel offended.
Love you JB!
Hahaha wait for the next video heheheheh
The prices are still too much...especially if you need to buy them into EU...
for me is just how disturbingly bad the customer support is with reMarkable.
you had me at mont blanc 😂
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH
Hey JB, you said five reasons in the video and your title says... just thought I'd throw that out there.
Hahaha testing u - lol I caught it after the whole edit as done and I was like damn 🙈 Thanks for paying attention.... I won’t charge extra for the last one 😂😂👊👊👊👊
@@morningcoach Lol, it's all good. I know the feeling. Regardless, another great video. Thx. Hope you have an awesome weekend!
@@athletejmv 👊👊
I have really enjoyed your videos. Thank you. I do have a question. I have tried most of the popular readers and cannot find one that is a really good ereader. I don't need a writing tool, though it's cool. I like great quality and sleek if that exists. I know the Remarkable 2 fits the build part. What about the new Likebook P10? What do you think might make a good ereader that meets those qualifications? I have tried Onyx more than once and it is not for me.
There's a huge Tribal mentality in the rM community lol... quick to defend their toys.
Yeah, your post gets downvoted in Reddit if it’s “negative” against the RM2 even if it’s just factual info.
My main issue with Remarkable is the barrage of complaints of bad customer service on all their online ads.
If I saw it at a shop and I could test my device out, I would buy it, probably, but buying it online seems like a test in frustration.
@@jay4239 Hey Jaimin, actually, I think the company is based out of Norway (It's printed on the packaging "Designed by reMarkable in Norway," and the product is produced in Hong Kong, China). With all the marketing, you'd think it were an American company lol. I'm part of the reMarkable group on Facebook. I had mentioned my positive experience with the Super Note compared to the rM2 and I had one guy make a specific post to the public to have me and another person removed. I was like, 5th grade all over again? lol. It's all good. I was never band. The guy for his age had a maturity level of non-existent. You always have those "special" people out there. siliconcanals.com/news/startups/norweigan-e-paper-tablet-maker-remarkable-raises-e13-7m-from-twitter-slack-oculus-investors/
One good reason to not buy the supernote....it does not have a sales house in european union and so with the taxes better buy two rm2
Right from 0:10 I’m guessing it’s thickness is not going to be one of those reasons 😂
This is not a balanced review. The Etch A Sketch should have been included as a benchmark.
I think what you’re trying to say is the writing feels clean
Couldn’t help myself. Love your reviews btw!
Android is a flavor of Linux, and it's hackable too.
dirdn't know tony hawk ist a tech nerd
I like your analysis and quick six facts to make a decision, but hacking Linux is totally an absurd statement. According to Computer world, 'Linux is the most secure OS.'
You gave 6 reasons that AREN'T useful when purchasing one over the other.
Consider this regarding remarkable2 as of my post:
- Screenshare capability to computer using remarkable app
- Dropbox integration
- Google cloud integration
- OneNote integration
- On-screen note annotation of documents
- Send-to-email capability of edited documents
- Pinch to zoom/enlarge functionality
- Ability to add 3rd party templates (Look for E-ink)
- Top of pen acts "just like an eraser" when making corrections
These are just a few factors to consider.
🤓
500 bucks? No thanks.
