Sho was hands down the BEST ACTRESS to play Elphaba. Yes, I give total respect to Idina for originating the role (and having what is the greatest chemistry for a B’way duo with Kristin Chenoweth) and singing it flawlessly. AND in terms of emotional honesty, Shoshana just took it to another level.
It's not that they won't bring her back; she chooses her projects and what she focuses her time and attention on. Have you heard Spectrum? It's a masterpiece.
She literally left NY because she knew she’d be restricted to Broadway if she stayed. She’s legit one of the best Elphabas to ever play the role and she was the youngest Elphaba at age 27. The prior Elphabas to her casting were 5 and 6 years older than her. She had legit only ever done off Broadway and chorus roles prior to being casted as Idinas standby, a person who was 6 years older than her. The show placed a huge reliability on her shoulders. Not only did she replace the Tony Winning Performance to huge success but she cemented that this show was not about who was playing the roles but it was about The show. The show took a mostly unknown actress/singer in her 20s and sold her brilliantly to the public. Thankfully that risk most certainly paid off for everyone.
I saw her in a really ridiculous part in a ridiculous musical (Mr Saturday Night) and her voice just was like sunshine over the sound system. It's really a mesmerizingly brilliant sound.
Shoshana needs to go on American Idol, She would definitely win, clean sweep, no problem there. Automatically has all my votes. She's a winner all ready. Such talent. She is fantastic..
Michele Slivak She is restricted from appearing on any of those shows because they are intended on discoving unfound talent. All those shows require you have never had a professional music contract. Its my understanding that her contract to be the Lead in Wicked restricts her from competing on shows like the Voice and her age restricts her from Idol.
But Shoshanas albums have had success outside of Broadway. She's independently appeared on several talk shows promoting her own albums. Kerrie on the other hand was always theater. I think sho has always wanted to control her music which is why she's never been with a record company.
Sho is drop dead incredible. Saw her with JRB in a room of 30 at a place in LA called Barre. Freaking brought the walls down. So of course I dig this vid cause its her...but that accompaniment was rough
This is phenomenal! I still can't believe that no one has written this woman her own show? That ending was just crazy stupid insane (in the best possible way)~~
Its still very eye opening that she does not perform No Good Deed anymore and rarely 116th. Those songs are Tylers songs in my opinion and tbh performing those songs is VERY emotional i can imagine even almost 10 years after his death.
Her vocals are just so good it's stupid.
I live for that octave jump

That "so happy I could melt" giggle!
Hard to believe she hasn't been Elphaba in 8 years. Ugh, wish they'd bring her back.

+Sean Yates Kerry Ellis went on the voice....
+Joe Jones before she got famous
She already did a lot of musicals in the West End by the time she went on the voice. Including Wicked

pianist is struggling!
I can't stand it. Had to turn it off
That pianist.... :O
Who’s the pianist? Did they not rehearse before performing?
Fr fr!! It’s so annoying and almost ruins the whole thing.
ピアニストは初見で弾いてるのかな?
