Back in my high school days, my friends and I used to go camping up there during the summer holidays. You can actually see a lot of the wrecks from the surface. It's amazing how clear the water is, considering all the junk that's down there. Nice to finally see them up close !

Could be a nice community project for the diving club. Get the councils support to clean up the water (dripping sump oil / old gas etc), solve some thefts, and sell some parts & projects. As a classic car & bike restorer myself I can see a few useable bits that would look OK with a quick pressure wash. A tilt tray tow truck, a crane truck with some straps and 3 or 4 local lads...

In theory yes, but I suspect many of these are stolen in which case under UK law they remain the property of the owner (or insurance company if claimed for) and in UK law you can’t get good title to stolen property.. that includes wheels and engines

You used to be able to drive up pretty close to it. Haven't been up there for about 20 years, so don't know if that's still the case. It's just that not many people know about it and the turn off from the main road is pretty obscured, so it's easy to miss.

I tried to recover the motorbike years ago, we got it out the water but couldn't get it onto the land and the mooring rope broke and it fell back in so just left it there. 🤣
@@divexplore21 It was actually really good condition a lot of years ago, the big dent wasn't in the tank etc. I'd no idea what I was gonna do with it back then, I just fancied it for a trophy 🤣
Time to try and get it again it could definitely be restored with some hard work and would definitely be a classic motorcycle now the tank could be repaired by putting compressed air in the tank to push the dent out . I would use a manual ratchet chain to pull it out of the water and anchor that to a ground anchor like a large rock or dig a hole near the edge of the water to make a ground anchor to connect the ratchet winch to I think I would be a fun & exciting project and would make a great RUclips video showing that it got pulled out of the quarry lake and could be a running motorcycle again.

@@divexplore21 Possibly because being an earlier Minor, it was fitted with a bakelite steering wheel rim, which I gather can decompose under certain conditions. Unless, someone removed it prior to dumping it there?

I was there for a walk a long time ago and was fascinated with the place. Did you film all the cars or were there more further out? There’s a smallish quarry close to me that’s got a lot of cars in it, not sure what visibility is like but I have seen it 1 year when they pumped the water out for irrigation, when cars started appearing they stopped pumping.
@@Cossieplumber The bulk of the cars have been dumped at the near edge side of the quarry, piled up on top of each other. There are a couple of cars on the far edge like the Morris Minor in the video. There are no cars further out, only round the edges. The Morris is the oldest car a could see in there, think the reg plate said it was from 1968. There must be over 20 cars dumped there! I plan to do a more detailed car video this summer. Would you mind saying where you local quarry is, would love to explore there too sometime. Thanks for watching. 👍

There’s another quarry close to that and the water is crystal clear but it’s full of metal and would be dangerous to dive in. I have a fascination with cars/equipment being underwater but never got into diving, I should as I love being underwater.
Have you ever found any bodys.?? Theres a quarry in my town,New hamshire,united states,they pulled up a couple cars in the 80s with bodys in the trunk. It started as the state police were looking for stolen cars being dumped in the local quarry.. ended up a couple homicides that have never been solved.anyways,love your videos..! Cheers-🍻♻️😁
