How to Fix a Wobbly Toilet - permanently without shims

- You could fix a wobble in under two minutes by using toilet shims if your floor or toilet was uneven... but in this case the culprit is an improperly installed flange, and I wanted to permanently stop the wobble! Join me as I take an hour to remove the toilet and fix the wobble forever!

Great job. You were thorough and showed with a little creativity all is possible.
So much nicer now that you have a cameraman! :)
INGENIOUS!!! THIS WORKS GREAT!! THANK YOU !! I am a housing provider (not a landlord - don't call me landlord) and own several rental properties. This has been an ongoing problem - wobbly toilets (toilet flange too high). Not anymore, thanks to this video. This actually works great. And like you, I also recommend the rubber ring vs. wax ring. It may be about $5 more than wax ring - but well worth it, can pull off and on and reuse and not disgusting greasy wax mess. This idea was awesome - very easy to do if you work with toilet problems on a monthly basis like me.
Had , a issue with rubber rings on 2nd floor .. flange wasn’t leveled & rubbber ring popped out , from rocking toilet , ceiling , was wet for a week .. smfh .. vow to never use, rubber ring , if it’s not , centered , precisely it can pop out and , will leak .
Use .093, x2 sheets, of polycarbonate and glue them together. Then follow all the same steps. It’s clear, shatter/water proof, won’t rot and looks nicer without the need to paint or caulk. 👍🏻
Great idea , cost effective also
Reminds me of a news article I saw-- " Plumber arrested for 40 pounds of crack in pants"... :)
Nice work!
great job and idea. I will try this with a water resistance water proof platform not wood.
Good Job!
Great job
nice job. may wanna plug that drain hole once it's exposed, especially when removing screws from around it with a power drill, lucky none ended up down there
Good job
After the "Oh yummy!" @ 8:30 I subscribed! You're the ElectroBoom of plumbing but you have a stronger stomach than me!
Wakodahatchee Chris
Would moister in time cause the wood to rot? But it's a good idea. Maybe a plastic template?
You saw how rusted the flange was. Yes, the wood will rot out and quickly.
My toilet rocks bad. But after watching this video, I’m not calling a plumber now. I feel as though I could possibly do that. Thanks Dennis, my names also Dennis. But everyone calls me DJ.
Your a genius sir , thx ❤
I used a cement board , worked but , cement board was hard to cut , any other board mediums , suggestions would be appreciated..
Brilliant idea tho , shims , sometimes don’t work or looks bad
A good fine blade on a jig saw works well to cut cement board. Just be prepared to clean up a lot of dust.
you did use a shim. A giant one. lol
Did the wood rot?
Problem with little shims is they easily get knocked away unless you able to screw them into like a wood subfloor, but most floors are concrete and not easy to screw in those small shims which do not work very well anyway. This appears like a better idea especially for concrete floor where screwing in the shim is not possible.
The real horror here is this bath is out of TP 😅
How does it work if the floor is not level?
Since your using plywood , maybe , coat it with, flex seal or something water proof
Really helpful solution. What is is thickness of the plywood you used?
1/8"

I couldn't help but to laugh out loud when the crack of his ass shined for the camera.
🤣😅😢
I wanted to see how well the caulk job was going to look. He didn't show, probably not good.
You are good

You basically used a big ass shim
I think it's closer to a spacer.
I would have Totally stripped those screws
plummers crack really
Oh it’s a pain for everyone not just me Blessings to all the dads doin it for no pay 😂
Oh man come to my house dude

Disney gonna sue yo ass!
Cheaper and long lasting solution is making the cutout with cheap vinyl tile sheets. Cheaper than plywood and won't rot out.
And don't caulk base of toilet. That's just looks hideous.
What happened to your chickens and ducks?
They all grew up... The chickens migrated with the other chickens and the ducks eventually flicked with the other ducks
But that is a shim
a wooden one at that. Methinks some wood can rot ... esp. if not treated with paint or silicone or caulk. I think this guy had a damaged gasket that may have caused the wobbling anyway. My cement floor warping is to blame.
Big ass , shim that works 😅
Are you trolling the world?
When you put that dirty vacuum hose that you use to suck up water from the toilet up to your mouth I threw up just a little bit. Thanks for the video though.
Wrong! from beginning to end wrong, wrong, wrong!
he's just used a giant shim!
You're lucky- it's in WOOD... no big issue!!!
you should really wear gloves. I know who somebody who caught a nasty nasty bug and it took months for him to get better
Gloves will help against mrsa but other crap youre gonna get either way. Just gotta try to wash the hands as much as possible.. and hope you dont get any splashback..
@@Z-Ack gloves rip and decrease tactile decisiveness in some cases, and they don't kill MRSA, etc.. Et-OH sanitizer might be a better option. Certainly frequent handwashing should be reflexive.
Boomers.
@grafvonstauffenburg he’s my dad. Calm down boomer.
@grafvonstauffenburg Boomer doesn’t understand humor.
So if you don’t another job like that you just put that all over your face and your mouth how disgusting
This dude did alot wrong. For one where are the china caps, also use a plunger and gets plenty of the water out. He takes 30 min to pull a toilet and dont install correctly
Why the eff would anyone put that shopvac hose on their mouth? I was half expecting you to run the toilet brush through your hair. I'm not impressed with your childish and foul attempts at getting a laugh.
