Ever since i found the truth about their origin, i feel bad every time i battle falmer. there are design choices that transcend visual aspects of a character. visually, falmers are horrid, yet humanely recognizeable. but there's more to that. look at how they fight. they have some of the most insane DPS for their level. they are insanely aggressive, yet they can be sooooo easily killed, wearing no armor and having low health. however, a little detail that many - and i mean MANY - people do not notice, is that their very combat style shows their condition. they are not gracious. they have no visible honour. half of their attacks have truly virulent poisons. they come at you on almost-all-fours and wave their crudely assembled weapons at you with all their might. and thats the thing really - they fight like DESPERATE men. they are terribly handicaped in every way, under equiped, and probably live through an existance of suffering all their lives. their bodies simply are not adequated for where they live. they dont even have proper clothes, only chaurus hide (and i doubt those are confortable). in fact, dying would probably be a change for the better. killing them would almost be making them a favour. and EVEN STILL, they fight. with all the strength they have left, all the tools at their disposal, they fight back with more ferocity than any mighty nord i ever came to face. that raises the question: what have they got to lose? what could possibly gove them a reason to hold their miserable existances to dearly? i think there is one thing: memory. it is known that they have been mutated physically, but there is one thing many people dont notice. *in fact, even the video failed to mention this, which is perhaps the most insidious, treacherous, murderous crime the Dwemer ever made.* Have you ever tried to store a Falmer soul in a Black gem? you cant. EXACTLY. the dwemer destroyed and corrupted more than their bodies and minds. their very SOULS were affected, weakened, simplified. there are no words for such an atrocity. as you know, Black Soul Gems can only hold SENTIENT beings. according to some theories, this happens because the amount of wishes, desires and thoughts a sentient human (or mer) can have is so incredibly dense, that their souls are actually darker than those of simpler-minded animals, who have little to care about other than food, shelter, and mating. i shudder at the thought of what amount of suffering these poor being had to go through to lose their humanity to such a degree. its maddening, really. i cant even use Dwemer armor and weapons anymore without feeling infuriated and ashamed of myself. i have probably visited every single dwemer ruin in skyrim, and i know this: what little reasoning they have, what little resources they can gather, they managed to create a society from scrap, and an army that could potentially take over the Overworld. and they did that AS BLIND SLAVES GUARDED BY METAL STEAM-POWERED BEHEMOTHS WITH NOTHING BUT INSECTS AT THEIR DISPOSAL. compared to that resolve, that will to live and audacity, Ysgramor and his 500 Companions are milkdrinkers, and thats saying something. i simply cant help but feel sorry every time i have to kill them. i just wish i could simply past by them - their lives already stink enough without a axe carved in their skull and half their brains adorning the wall. i started using sneaky characters solely because of this. all my mages use Illusion, too. the falmer issue is probably what touched me the most in skyrim - in fact, it hit me even harder than Paarthurnax's response, which incredibly, kind of applies here: "Is it better to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great sacrifice?" the Falmer rarely attack first. they simply defend themselves. at worst, sometimes people come too close to comphort, and then shit happens to such a degree that you might as well bring the victims inside a bucket. yes, they are cruel. but what choice do they have? thats how they live. imagine trying to tame a freaking chaurus! you MUST be cruel. otherwise you die. that event at the Frostflow Lighthouse is exactly that: they were there first. no harm done. people came too close? now there is blood and gore everywhere. but for them, all they did was protecting themselves. i dare eve to say that the falmer are not evil. they instead, have lost the ability to understand good or evil, and care only about their own specie's survival and protecting their territory and close relatives. is that a bad thing? we humans do the same all the time. at the end of the day, every war we do, every conflict we fight ends up being us looking after our best interests, not cruelty. we dont wage wars based on cruelty and hate. thats what terrorists do. when people, reasonable people, have conflicts, they happen because something is putting their safety and lifestyle at stake. for the falmer, people from the surface (who have allways throghout history killed them ever since Nords came into Tamriel) are a very direct threat to them. the scavenging of their bodies siply happens because they need all the resources they can get. i am yet to see a falmer purposely attack another falmer, but people hitting people is last Morndas in Windhelm. wise words, Paarthy... wise words.
00WARTHERAPY00 I must be a really bad player if they're really easy to kill. Although that may be because they're found in Dwemer ruins and every time I'm over encumbered because I don't know what parts smelt into ingots, making me carry the useless gears, levers, gyros, etc. the whole way. So I may have been too slow to properly fight.
I agree completely and i believe the snow elves attacked sarthal after seeing what jurik gundurson (he was said to be evil) did with the eye of magnus. I wish there was a mod that would pacify the falmer because anyone that can build a society from dead bugs will survive for a long time.
Yes, but I would like to see the Dwemer return unexpectedly from wherever they 'went' when they disappeared. It could have the same sort of dread as dragons coming back, because they are such an awful race. Then the hidden snow elves that remain could suddenly appear and be of a help to defeat them before it's too late for Tamriel.
umm it will be elder scrolls 0 if that exists then bethesda casted a mass confusion spell on us so falmer and dwemer can only be in elder scrolls 0 or elder scrolls 6 will be a prequel to all the elder scrolls games didnt you think of that?! im i the only one who told that
Am I the only one who wants there to be a flash forward where the Falmer have actually have cities and a complex culture? Maybe even the ability to be a player character? Cause that would be sick.
I appreciate that since I'm responsible for the writing, recording and editing(; I am so happy you enjoy the videos! That's why we do them, to entertain you all! < 3
I think the dwarfs feed them an alchemy ingredient that's gives weakness to cold, because if there allies had this weakness, the elvin wizards wouldn't use the powerful ice spells like blizzard and ice storm because they are area of effect spells
I've been wondering when you all'd get around to the Snow Elves/Falmer. Their story is one of the most intriguing in Elder Scrolls, reaaaaaally well done!
Wait if Solstheim was created when Miraak and Vahlok battled in Dragon War torning apart Solstheim from mainland Skyrim and rieklings being presumed to be devolved Snow Elves as well, does that mean that Snow Elves just "chilled" there until and during Dragon War?
That would be cool for Elder Scrolls 6 to be return of the snow elves. Like they attack all the Nords to retake their homeland but i doubt that will be the idea for the next game.
Imagine in the next elder scrolls game you could be any humanoid species, i’m trying to imagine what would happen if you could become a dwemer. Imagine, you walk into a city and get confused and strange looks. Or better yet, you enter a dwemer ruin, and all the automatons are neutral to you unless you attack them. And imagine seeing a falmer, they give you a strange look, confusion, and then they kill you with an unseen force known to Nirn.
Elder Scrolls 6 should be in Hammerfell, because I thing the Redguards are badass, but I think the storyline should be about how the Dwemer still exist and so do the Snow Elves. The main character should be able to chose between either the Snow Elves, the Dwemer, the Redguards or the Redguards AND the Snow Elves to turn Hammerfell into a place for humans and Snow Elves to work together (without the Talmor being involved).
Could it be, that the reason (spoiler) Ancano is trying to seize the power of "the eye of magnus", is because him and the thalmor are trying to fulfill what the snow elves couldn't ? Just spitting out theories :-)
Best Lore Video ever. I haven't got The Dawnguard DLC yet, and I hope I will get all 3 soon enough, maybe in my birthday, which is in the next two weeks from now. Good job at speaking for this amazing Lore video that Jaxxie Ash made Rhexx. Keep up the good work in these Skyrim Lore videos :)
Serana, most sensible and friendly vampire in Keizaal... and also very fond of standing in front of you or just pulling random shenanigans (Like preventing -Tullius- people from sitting).
De Wijswolf It's impossible. The Falmer are too de-evolved to do anything. And even if the Snow Elves return by some miracle, pretty sure the Nords can handle it. You know, Greybeards, The Companions, College of Winterhold, the Blades, possibly the Dovahkiin of he's still around, and the Falmer wouldn't have the Snow Prince since he's already dead. So an Elder Scrolls VI where Snow Elves return and exact revenge is unlikely as fuck, unrealistic as fuck and just wouldn't have much depth.
Great vid Rhexx. I like all the lore videos they are pretty entertaining, and also (just my opinion obviously) I like it better when you use your voice, it runs smoother than the other voices you've used, such as the children of skyrim. But keep it up man.
I think it would be really fascinating to see the falmer evolve and develop into something like their former snow elf selves in the next Elder Scrolls. I really think this could happen especially if the time gap between the games is big
i find it quite funny how in this episode you added comedy a bit aswell XD,and made me laugh my a** off XD,usaly your lore vids (even tought i am quite the master of lore) are very well made and interesting to watch, this time it was niceley made ,interesting to watch but also so funny i went crazy (Charrus break dance XD?)) love how you connected the eye of magnus and the elves, and i totaly agree with all you said
Would love to be able to play as Snow Elves in the next Elder Scrolls game. Do not get me wrong, I love playing the other races, but we are 5 main games into the series and no new races have been. That kind of saddens me.
Imagine an ES game where you play in the first era filled with like nothing but elves and stuff.. It would clear up a lot of the theories and such and I think it would be kind of fun to play but it would be hard to develop sidequests and even main quests so I doubt it would be made.
The original inhabitant of Tamriel are actually Khajiit, Argonians, Snow Elves and Dwemer. Then the Aldmer, Nords and Redguards came along, while the Imperials just... popped out of nowhere.
+MechaKieran1 Personally I like the Falmer better as a character design and concept. We have a lot of pointy eared pretty humans, not enough intelligence creepy bat people.
MechaKieran1 Still, the Orcsimer are very stereotypical in design. I've never seen elves done like the Betrayed Falmer. I just wish they got the same sympathetic treatment as the Forsworn do. They're clearly intelligent and cultured, and the victims of greedy, underhanded Dwemer...
QuantumLolliepop I think he was referring to the characteristics of intelligence, morality, and personality, not that they were literal humans. It was a play on words.
Who wants to see a new single player Elder Scrolls game that bases it's self upon the disappearance of the Dwemer, the civil war events of (*growel*) Elder Scrolls online. And maybe technology advancements in Tamriel. Muskets anyone?
+Sulli11 I wouldnt want techonolgical advancements, but id love to see the dwemer. although maybe based on their return, because theyir disappearance was very sudden and i dont think you could do that much with it.
Unless it was based on the gods themselves who can come and go instantly and take entire statues with them. It could be set up where the dwemer found something :3 Because being underground can have many consequences.
Sulli11 I guess, it's partly that i just don't want them to go back in time. I would prefer advancement of the world and then fleshing out of the history through books and new in-game lore. Also i really really really want to see the thalmor get their arses handed to them. sooooo badly.
***** Wait, you're the one on the forum that used the book I mentioned to state that it was solid fact they became the brass tower's armor, arent you? Even though it's implied to be written by an in-game character who likely hadnt even lived at the time and only claims to have been. A single book doesnt mean solid fact of lore
I wish their was a Skyrim DLC about the Snow Elves that allows you to be a Snow Elf and makes there be Snow Elf Ruins all over Skyrim. I will love Skyrim even more if they did this, it may double my love of Skyrim!
My question has always been is his did nords defeat snow elves?! They were powerful mages and warriors vs nords. Although it is said the first nords were huge not like the nords of today. Also if Falmer have always been weak to the cold it might be the nords actually had an advantage in the terrain. But either way it's hard to believe that the modern nords could stand a chance against the Falmer in their prime. And it's arguable that the elves had good reason to attack sarthal. Fearing the nords may use the eye for bad wether purposeful or not, simply wishing to take their land back, their own race may be becoming too large and requires the extra resources. But still. I don't think the snow elves deserved what happened, and I think the modern falmer with their torturing of creatures comes from the fact that they themselves are tortured by their own existence, they cause pain to others because that's all they know anymore o-o and I imagine they want other races to stay away from them.
In the Elder Scrolls the writers like to dance around the fact that magic would make your army basically invincible against warriors. It could just be that most mages aren't powerful enough in combat to annihilate most warriors
+Dreamer511 In Dragonborn DLC it present a nord mage whose family was slaughered on the Night of Tears while he was away studing magic During the time between the slaugher and Ysgramor's return he sought to learn everything he could of elven magic to use against the falmer. When he found Ysgramor's army, he gave enchanted equipament created to destroy elves.
When you consider the giants of skyrim are descended from the Nede, those who turned into the Nords after the war with the falmer, they were some hefty mother fuckers with axes to match, that little girl couldve been the size of the falmer king
How awesome would it be if that was the story line for Elder Scrolls 6 finding the last few groups of Snow Elves and helping them kinda help the Falmer back into Snow Elf status
It could happen but the elder scrolls series has always gone further into the future not including TES online maybe TES VI will be in blackmarsh or valenwood or somewhere new
every Elder Scrolls installment features a giant civil war between races; if this continues to be the case, then the return of the falmer against the nords would make for a great game! All elder scrolls games either take place in the distant future or the ancient past of the pther ones, so ES7 could be one of a few different things, assuming it's with the falmer. It could be between the falmer and the nords in the past(unlikely, since we already know the outcome of that war), or the falmer and the dwemer in the past(the details of that war are largely unknown). The dwemer have yet to be introduced completely in an elder scrolls game, and we're all awaiting the day that they are. The other option is that it takes place in the future, in a battle between the uprising falmer seeking revenge on the nords. This seems promising, but not as much as my theory. I believe that it'll take place much later, after the snow elves return & rise to power(much like the thalmor in the current tamriel)
+Jason Klein because tamriel is now either controlled by the thalmor or the snow elves, they begin to wage war on one another, both seeking the elimination of the other for rights of being the ruling race of all of tamriel. The other races pick sides(mostly based on which side inhabit's which territory) and all of tamriel is split up in two in a gigantic civil war(the wood elves would be the main ally of the snow elves, since I believe the recovery of the snow elves will begin in valenwood. The wood elves are the closest race to the snow elves, and would be the most inviting to a recovering almost extinct elf race). A gigantic ALL of tamriel immersive Elder Scrolls game is long overdue, and this would be insane. Not only would It feature every province in skyrim, but it would also have an insane civil war storyline. I believe that this is not only possible, but also plausible, because They have had this game in development for almost FIVE years now, and they say it could take 5 more!
+Jason Klein I love that idea but hasn't Bethesda said they aren't actively working on TES VI yet? I think they may have a few guys brainstorming ideas to be honest. Kind of dumb to not put any thought into it at all.
fact: for I quote "what is going stop snow elves rising for power again?" well dragonborn, dragons, nords, ancient nords, werewolves, werebears, Hags, Forsake, maybe dwarf (they might come back), adventure, bandits, necromancers, summoners, wizards, guilds, nature creatures, time rift of the forgotten heroes or others who is trap in time space, militarizes, and lastly the *guards*. So that is about 20 listed enemies against the snow elves.
They're probably not going to do black marsh or elsweyr because people would get but hurt over being a beast race. I think it should be all of tamriel. But its at a total world war. Like ESO, but not multiplayer. Just single player and maybe co-op. There should be Elsweyr, black marsh, as an alliance. Hammerfell w/ high rock. Nords with imperials. Then the high elves team up with the wood elves. Then, oh yes I'm not done. The Dark elves are battling with the return of the deep elves or dwemer. But the dwemer are super powerful. Therefore, the snow elves were in hiding repopulating, and training, they team up with the dark elves to try to get there vengeance on the deep elves. That would be insane.
Tbh I recon the next elder scrolls will probably go back in time to the great war or otherwise go forward in time supporting the theory that the great war was actually fake to re union the falling empire in haterid against a common enemy. I also believe the next installment will probably marked the end of the empire. Rebelion group inspired by the stormcloaks will risk against the Elves and the empire. The final result marks the end of all established order in tamriel. As each faction group tries to gain power. Start the third great war and the dark peroid, With the world mass anarchy. Jyggalag (the daeric prince of order) uses his power / releases / bargians with the captures of the Dwemmer since he is still weakened by the events of shivering isles . They raise to be the ruler of skyrim. At this point in time the falmer (not the snow elves) have strengthened and started to over run Tamerial making the underground more dangerous than the surface. This forces all races into submission and starts the era of order. This era only gets intrupted by the snow elves still scorned by Dwemmers and starts a rebelion against them. Probably unitting the beast races and every elf appart from the dwemmer. The human races at this point will follow the flag of the old empire which ally with the Dwemmer for safety against the Snow elves as it was the nords which lead them to needing to make a deal with the dwemmer That is my thoery on the events of series but there is probably a lot of plot holes
Jonarrthan 3 plot holes that i could find where are the snow elves hiding and where are the falmer hiding because the falmer cant just go outside and walk into a came they're confined into the ruins because they can't make pickaxes so they can't mine so they can't make tools out of anything other than wood and chitin and bone. also what happened between then and what if you sided with the imperials ? also i've never finished the stormcloak quest line i always end up going imperial or if i make a mistake i've cheated the quest out and replaced it with the imperial one.
I have a question for everyone who plays/watches the game: Have you ever noticed how their are mini alters sticking up all around their camps kind of like warning signs? Those sticks with what look to be semetrical shells strapped on to them? I got a close look for once the other day after seeing a video passing by them, and I saw they bare a solid likeness to the alter design of a certain deity. The god of sky and light I think? I saw it show up on a loading screen once, and I've also yet to see any, ANY mention of this connection anywhere yet. Since then I've theorized the Falmer most likely worship this sky deity because they still hope one day to be able to see it. The sky, and leave behind their cavern shelters in safety. i mean, with how the dunmer were transformed during the red mountain/tribunal incident, its not at all silly for the falmer to be preying for their own salvation from a similar power. Heck, it might just be the one uniting value that remains among them, to regain their humanity and sight to survive without fear. They've obviously lost their connection with languages, but that one hope, that one dream. For vision. Again, I feel like the Falmer barely ever get a societal exploration other than their past, and the bare surface of their present. It feels theirs a lot more to them, even with the snow elf history in mind. . .
Will Johnson He was talking about the prefix, not the suffix. You ever wonder why bosmer means wood elf? Because "bos-" derives from certain languages where the word for "forest" begins with those letters; the one I can think of off the top of my head is "bosque" which is "forest" in Spanish. Likewise, the "alt-" part of altmer can be traced back to the Spanish word "alto" for "tall," or "altus," the Latin word for "high." And the maormer, or the "sea elves"? "Mar" means "sea" in both Latin and Spanish. I can't really speak for the prefixes of any other type of mer, because I'm not familiar with the words in the languages that they may be derived from, but I can guarantee that most of them will have lingual derivatives somewhere. As for the derivative of "falmer," well, I had a look through ye ol' Google translate, and searched as many probable languages as I could think of using the words "snow" and "ice" and found nothing starting with the letters "fal." So then I looked at the possibility of their name connecting them to being betrayed, like so many of the people in the comments seem to be saying. Again, no such luck. However, thinking outside the box, I did come up with a Latin-based English word in relation to betrayal, which was "fallacy," the definition of which is: "a mistaken belief, especially one based on unsound argument," which is usually the precursor to betrayal. So as of right now, that's the best derivative I can give you for their name. I don't think the snow elves have an actual "mer" name, at least not one that's been said yet. What I think happened is that the snow elves who sought refuge with the dwemer became the falmer due to a betrayal because of a fallacy in their conditions of refuge, and that's how they got their name. If you remember from the video, Rhexx said that the snow elf you get to talk to is offended by the word "falmer," meaning it's probably not the original name of their race.
You forgot to mention the three journals that you find in that falmer place with the ice giant that's locked away you have to take them to the college of winter hold I believe and the Orc translates them it talks about a snow elf and his friends and family and how they were locked under ground and waited for an all clear signal to come out.
the thalmor are pure-blooded high elves and are EXTREMELY racist. They think every other race is below them and terrible heathens. They would scoff at any 'high-elf snow-elf' hybrids
Oh, come on mate, it would be a good plot (Also, the fact Thalmor are obsessed with racial purity could be projection due to their mixed past). All I'm saying is that it would be a nice story and would provide a good reason of why the Thalmor dislike Talos and races of men.
I found it interesting that the Falmer can have their souls trapped in non-black soul gems, which basically means whatever the Dwemer done to them. It didn't just take away their eyesight, or cripple them physically... It degraded their very essence at a spiritual level.
I found a mod that let's you play as any monster in the game so I decided to be a falmer and I learned a lot they tame and use frostbite spiders, skevers, and chorus, they also when you take a closer look at the falmers face where there eyes should be there are no eyes at all THEY HAVE NO EYES but about their hierarchy what I saw is the more armor they have the higher rank they are in their little tribe usually their will be a small group of falmer ruled by a shaman but if it's a bigger tribe they are usually ruled by a falmer warmonger I hope this is accurate information.
We need a DLC(or dlc sized mod i wouldnt complain) about Snow Elves and Falmer, and maybe even some Dwemer in there. It'd be so awesome and theres an incredible amount of loose lore they have the work with they could do so so much with it.
I hope that falmer evolve back in to snow-elves. So one day some Nord farmer is tending to his crops and a shit ton of snow elves just climb out of the ground and just wander off so the farmer will be like ''Dafaq?''
Remember how he said in the dwemer video that the dwarves disappeared? What if they were teleported into a secret area?It would be cool if we could see the dwemer and the falmer in es6!!!
I will say this, in my Morrowind game, the gantlets the Dwemer made were originally called Raw in there language, they only became know as Wraith Guard by human scholars.
The Darkness It is also stated that when active, the gantlets seemed to expand to cover the entire body wearer in order to protect them from the energies of the heart.
Its amazing how Bethesda not only created a game/series, but also a whole fucking world+religions+communities+ecosystems+fucking millennia of history and secrets
Don't forget an entire language and alphabet (Dovahzul aka Dragon language)
yea it is like lord of the rings or a song of fire and ice(GoT) game equivalent
Aeria Azurah plus the daedric language
Daedric, Ayleidoon, Dwemereth and Aldmeri, most of them are quite similar to each other, because every language derives from Et' Adic language (Daedric and Aedric, which are practically the same)
you should check out the subreddit r/worldbuilding. Its incredible what people can create

Worst part is if you join the vampires side, your vampire lord drain health damage is significantly decreased
Lmaaaao
secretly, Santa Claus is Ysgramor and he keeps the Falmer hostage to make toys.
Holy shit, Dragonborn DLC! Santa Claus left the Falmer and replaced them with those little Morrowind guys! IT ALL MAKES SENSE
Explains why I was given a Falmer sword with 500 chaos damage for Christmas! Thanks Ysgramor!
Ever since i found the truth about their origin, i feel bad every time i battle falmer.

Have you ever tried to store a Falmer soul in a Black gem?
you cant.
EXACTLY. the dwemer destroyed and corrupted more than their bodies and minds. their very SOULS were affected, weakened, simplified. there are no words for such an atrocity.
as you know, Black Soul Gems can only hold SENTIENT beings. according to some theories, this happens because the amount of wishes, desires and thoughts a sentient human (or mer) can have is so incredibly dense, that their souls are actually darker than those of simpler-minded animals, who have little to care about other than food, shelter, and mating.
i shudder at the thought of what amount of suffering these poor being had to go through to lose their humanity to such a degree. its maddening, really. i cant even use Dwemer armor and weapons anymore without feeling infuriated and ashamed of myself.
i have probably visited every single dwemer ruin in skyrim, and i know this: what little reasoning they have, what little resources they can gather, they managed to create a society from scrap, and an army that could potentially take over the Overworld. and they did that AS BLIND SLAVES GUARDED BY METAL STEAM-POWERED BEHEMOTHS WITH NOTHING BUT INSECTS AT THEIR DISPOSAL. compared to that resolve, that will to live and audacity, Ysgramor and his 500 Companions are milkdrinkers, and thats saying something.
i simply cant help but feel sorry every time i have to kill them. i just wish i could simply past by them - their lives already stink enough without a axe carved in their skull and half their brains adorning the wall. i started using sneaky characters solely because of this. all my mages use Illusion, too. the falmer issue is probably what touched me the most in skyrim - in fact, it hit me even harder than Paarthurnax's response, which incredibly, kind of applies here:
"Is it better to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great sacrifice?"

wise words, Paarthy... wise words.
00WARTHERAPY00 I agree with you but when ever I kill them I don't fell anything
They started their downfall by trying to fight the Nords.I really don't feel sorry for them
00WARTHERAPY00 I must be a really bad player if they're really easy to kill. Although that may be because they're found in Dwemer ruins and every time I'm over encumbered because I don't know what parts smelt into ingots, making me carry the useless gears, levers, gyros, etc. the whole way. I would feel sorry for them if they werent trying to kill me. So I slaughter every single one of them.
I agree completely and i believe the snow elves attacked sarthal after seeing what jurik gundurson (he was said to be evil) did with the eye of magnus. I wish there was a mod that would pacify the falmer because anyone that can build a society from dead bugs will survive for a long time.
Snow Elves and the Dwemer should return in the next game. It would make a fantastic story.
or set the game in the distant past
Yes, but I would like to see the Dwemer return unexpectedly from wherever they 'went' when they disappeared. It could have the same sort of dread as dragons coming back, because they are such an awful race. Then the hidden snow elves that remain could suddenly appear and be of a help to defeat them before it's too late for Tamriel.
+Robert Gronewold yeah it would be cool they could have used magic that the players don't know about to vanish
umm it will be elder scrolls 0 if that exists then bethesda casted a mass confusion spell on us so falmer and dwemer can only be in elder scrolls 0 or elder scrolls 6 will be a prequel to all the elder scrolls games didnt you think of that?! im i the only one who told that
+Robert Gronewold the dwemer were actually a elf species and got banned from the world and can never return
falmer: help the Nords are taking over.
dwemer: we'll help if you become blind
falmer:sounds great
Not only blind. They can't have children too.
+Ruh Gezgini Udyr Whaa? :c
+Ruh Gezgini Udyr Then why are they still around after all these years if they can't have children?
+Blu Fish I have little lore points invested in skyrim but elves usually live very long and the falmer were elves. So, prob that's why.
+Alpha Kodiak But they don't live thousands of years.
I would love to have an elder scrolls game set during this era.
Da fuck why?!?
So u can see emo elves and guns instead of swords?
+Castiel Winchester Um, there's no guns in The Elder Scrolls series.
+Lia Dornell the dwemer could have had guns
+Taylor Randolph They don't, Balistas are the closest thing to guns in the Elder Scrolls series.
The falmer remind me of the creatures from the horror film, the descent. Theyre both pale white, blind and live underground. Coincedence? I think not
The crimson nirnroot triggered me.
DAMN THAT QUEST!!
HOURS OF MY LIFE, GONE!!!
I know! It was built up to be an awesome alchemy ingredient yet they're only worth 30 gold a piece!
Don't get me started on the stones of barenziah
Random combat evolved elite I only have 16 and I've spent over 12 hours on it...
Am I the only one who wants there to be a flash forward where the Falmer have actually have cities and a complex culture? Maybe even the ability to be a player character? Cause that would be sick.
If any child killed the Snow Elf Prince, it was Babette.
Except maybe a drunken one
Oh...that Falmer armor was rare....oh shit.
thijs piggelen I still wouldn't wear it, the way it looks makes me uncomfortable. But thanks
thijs piggelen I don' think so, might be someplace in one of the many chests in my houses...or I might have sold or dropped it.
thijs piggelen Thanks!
+banana killar perry (bananakiller) ikr. I never pick up that shit. until now..
sky stryker I take everything, even yeast!
Damn dude, this was really well done. I remember seeing your previous skyrim lore vids over a year ago and they've only gotten better!
I appreciate that since I'm responsible for the writing, recording and editing(;
I am so happy you enjoy the videos! That's why we do them, to entertain you all! < 3
Well now I know who to give credit to lol
The videos are awesome, and so are both of you!
Wait wait wait, MOARMER? Is my Skyrim glitched or something, because I dont have any sea elves in my game... Or did you make the name up to troll?
Funny how the SNOW Elves are weak to FROST spells. Like WTF?! Logic?
Mew Masuki True
***** Lol, true, true
Not to mention the "Falmer" Have lived in the hot steamy underground dwarven cities for so long maybe they're bodies can't handle the cold.
I think the dwarfs feed them an alchemy ingredient that's gives weakness to cold, because if there allies had this weakness, the elvin wizards wouldn't use the powerful ice spells like blizzard and ice storm because they are area of effect spells
I'm glad your speaking again Rhexx it seems Ashley is best at writing
Serana: Photobombing like a champ since 4E 201.
GUYS! I worked really hard on this video so I hope you all like it... I am very proud!(:
Rhexx was speaking very highly of you while you were working on it, as I'm sure you are very aware of. We are also very happy.
Tucker Jensen I'm glad!(:
I've been wondering when you all'd get around to the Snow Elves/Falmer. Their story is one of the most intriguing in Elder Scrolls, reaaaaaally well done!
finally something I almost completely didnt know :) excelent job.
btw, where is that Forgotten Vale? in vanilla skyrim or with the expansions?
Caliedhe Dosiere Hey thanks! The Vale is in the Dawnguard DLC(:
i thought the Falmer were just Smeagle clones xD
the more you know
Serana! GTFO! You´re ruining muy shots!
What a useless vampire she is xD
Jaxxie Ash OMG! Hello Jaxxie! :D god lord...I sound like a Fangirl lol
Em1lic0! Hey man! Hope you enjoyed the video(:
Jaxxie Ash You just called her a Man? Nice going Ash.
MrRhexx Actually im a dude, lol, I said "Fangirl" ironically xD
Wait if Solstheim was created when Miraak and Vahlok battled in Dragon War torning apart Solstheim from mainland Skyrim and rieklings being presumed to be devolved Snow Elves as well, does that mean that Snow Elves just "chilled" there until and during Dragon War?
That would be cool for Elder Scrolls 6 to be return of the snow elves. Like they attack all the Nords to retake their homeland but i doubt that will be the idea for the next game.
Thank you so much Rexx for narrating them from now on! Also, thank you Ash for your hard work!
A lot to know about the Snow Elves. This is a well made Lore video voiced by MrRhexx and made/edited by Jaxxie Ash! :)
Falmer= The Betrayed. I call them The Falmer=The Fallen Elfs, Fal=Fallen and Mer=Elf.
Well fal is snow in Altmeris and mer is folk in altmeris
Serana: O HI!
MrRhexx: get out my video
serana: awww
Preston Garvey Preston a settlement needs the minute mens help tell the general.
Please mark it on my map
I like that idea hopefully something similar happens
3:49 I love how Serana is completely oblivious to what's going on behind her
Could it be, that the reason (spoiler) Ancano is trying to seize the power of "the eye of magnus", is because him and the thalmor are trying to fulfill what the snow elves couldn't ? Just spitting out theories :-)
Well, thinking about it, he is at the college before you find the Eye of Magnus... So yeah, probably just an arse
yet another clue for my falmer-thalmor tamriel civil war idea for ES7 >_>
Best Lore Video ever.
I haven't got The Dawnguard DLC yet, and I hope I will get all 3 soon enough, maybe in my birthday, which is in the next two weeks from now. Good job at speaking for this amazing Lore video that Jaxxie Ash made Rhexx.
Keep up the good work in these Skyrim Lore videos :)
it makes sense their alchemists, because their short
Commander Rolex wow rip ed
The PaleBlood rip ed? He ain't dead
Commander Rolex but just got roasted
The PaleBlood DAMN!
Serana, most sensible and friendly vampire in Keizaal... and also very fond of standing in front of you or just pulling random shenanigans (Like preventing -Tullius- people from sitting).
Elder Scrolls VI: Revenge of the Falmer/Night of Tears II
De Wijswolf Night of tears revenge already happened by the companions
But keep it up man.
rhexx u could just tell serana to wait somewhere....
I think it would be really fascinating to see the falmer evolve and develop into something like their former snow elf selves in the next Elder Scrolls. I really think this could happen especially if the time gap between the games is big
The biggest secret is : How the fuck are they using bows since they are blind ?
precise hearing
Nice video man :) You have a rare excitement in your voice. Don't lose that :)
Sounds like MrRhexx is channeling his inner Christopher Walken in this one :D
or Walken is channeling his inner MrRhexx
Voice is perfect for the accounts of lore!! Love it and keep it up!
Where is Mr Rexx from? I love his videos they are brilliant!!
i find it quite funny how in this episode you added comedy a bit aswell XD,and made me laugh my a** off XD,usaly your lore vids (even tought i am quite the master of lore) are very well made and interesting to watch, this time it was niceley made ,interesting to watch but also so funny i went crazy (Charrus break dance XD?))
love how you connected the eye of magnus and the elves, and i totaly agree with all you said
Would love to be able to play as Snow Elves in the next Elder Scrolls game. Do not get me wrong, I love playing the other races, but we are 5 main games into the series and no new races have been. That kind of saddens me.
+TyranusRex721 Orcs? Imperials?
+Abandoned Void Now we need kids haha
+TyranusRex721 well if Elder Scrolls 6 takes place in Eilsweyr then we could maybe get the Maormer which meens the Sea Elves
Then the Aldmer, Nords and Redguards came along, while the Imperials just... popped out of nowhere.
some time I would REALLY like to play as one!
So glad i found out about this channel! Keep up the awesome work!
Am I the only one here who loves the snow elves?
before or after they became demon spawn?
+MechaKieran1 Personally I like the Falmer better as a character design and concept. We have a lot of pointy eared pretty humans, not enough intelligence creepy bat people.
+Nikky Nace I agree that their model is good, but I like the orsimer not.
+MechaKieran1 I mean more
MechaKieran1 Still, the Orcsimer are very stereotypical in design. I've never seen elves done like the Betrayed Falmer. I just wish they got the same sympathetic treatment as the Forsworn do. They're clearly intelligent and cultured, and the victims of greedy, underhanded Dwemer...
0:34
is that crossbow for a dlc or is it a rare item?
(please dont tell me its one of the weapons in the dlc)
João Gabriel
DANG IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You said that the falmer are strangely more human than you would think. They are elves, so that makes perfect sense.
QuantumLolliepop I think he was referring to the characteristics of intelligence, morality, and personality, not that they were literal humans. It was a play on words.
The Darkness Are you saying that elves don't have intelligence, morality or personality? humans and elves are quite similar.
I was saying the elves have all those characteristics, they just aren't humans.
The Darkness I know they're not human, but elves are very similar, so it makes perfect sense that falmer are very similar to humans.
Yes it does, I thought you were being sarcastic in your original comment. My mistake.
This is awesome Ash and Rhexx you guys did a great job :)
"Snow elves" just the name sounded like something bad happens to them
You know in morrowind in the blood moon expansion there is a cave where you can find a dead snow elf.
Sounds interteresting I have the anthology on pc. I'll find that place when i get around to it.
+Seph5000 uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Lefthanded_Elves
+Seph5000 uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Maormer here are some lost races of mer.
+Hilda Streety that's actually the burrow of the snow prince, witch makes it doubly cool
Night of Tears...Kristallnacht?
that's night of broken glass
+Dom Sim similar premise
it's actually really sad what happened to the falmer. I mean they were once snow-elves.
:D why would we go back in time?
o-o brain cells working?
Rhexx you're videos are the best out there. Great job.
Does anyone else think he should do a dwemer theories video about what he thinks happened to them?
:F
:D *
He already has
***** Wait, you're the one on the forum that used the book I mentioned to state that it was solid fact they became the brass tower's armor, arent you? Even though it's implied to be written by an in-game character who likely hadnt even lived at the time and only claims to have been. A single book doesnt mean solid fact of lore
That should be the ES 6. Where the snow elves comeback. And they add them into the mix.
Great vid maybe for the next video you and ash could take turns saying bits of the lore
not a bad idea
Tamriel in general wasn't the elves land, it belonged to the Argonias and Khakiit, all the rest of you are invaders.
Yes thank you dude! I've been waiting! Companions/College or Black Book, or Dragonborn or Dawnguard secrets please!
Thank you a LOT better!
Could you possibly do skaal secrets next? Thanks.
What do mean a LOT better? Is it because Ashley narrated the old episodes? If so, your suggestion should be ignored.
Yes it is actually!
I love the Lore vids man!
Keep up the great work!
Where do you want Elder Scrolls Six to take place in?
i want it to be in hammerfell
Elsewer
Black marsh
The summerset isles
Black marsh or argonian place
Damn Serana, she just pops out of nowhere in the shots.
#BringSnowElfsBack
How awesome would it be if that was the story line for Elder Scrolls 6 finding the last few groups of Snow Elves and helping them kinda help the Falmer back into Snow Elf status
Maybe Elder Scrolls: VI will be before the dwemer and snow elves vanished and around the time Ysgramor came to skyrim........
]
YES PLEASE
zangatz Nope
Snow elves = Poisoned by Dwemer
Dwemer = Unknown
It could happen but the elder scrolls series has always gone further into the future not including TES online maybe TES VI will be in blackmarsh or valenwood or somewhere new
Falmer still creep me out to this day, Dwemer ruins in general are cool but also very complex in their own way
Does this mean... In Elder Scrolls VI, the Snow Elves could return? :o
I hope
every Elder Scrolls installment features a giant civil war between races; if this continues to be the case, then the return of the falmer against the nords would make for a great game!
That would be insane.
that's pretty deep. I agree with you on this
Lydia IsAwesome Hill thank you, its nice to know youtube still has nice people like you.
The human races at this point will follow the flag of the old empire which ally with the Dwemmer for safety against the Snow elves as it was the nords which lead them to needing to make a deal with the dwemmer
That is my thoery on the events of series but there is probably a lot of plot holes
Jonarrthan Yeah. That would be amazing. Its too bad we're not going to have a new Elder scrolls game for a little while.
I have a question for everyone who plays/watches the game:
Have you ever noticed how their are mini alters sticking up all around their camps kind of like warning signs?
It feels theirs a lot more to them, even with the snow elf history in mind. . .
rhexx falmer means betrayed not snow elf. but you where close
No, Falmer means Snow Elf. Mer=Elf. AltMER= High ELVES, DunMER=Dark ELVES, and BosMER=Wood ELVES.
Will Johnson yes i know mer means elf, but in the game from falmer scholars to books, to the last snow elfs say falmer means betrayed
Then falmer means betrayed elf
***** "The Snow Elves, also known as the Falmer or Ice Elves, are a proud race of mer with an unusually great aptitude for magic." UESP Wiki....
If you remember from the video, Rhexx said that the snow elf you get to talk to is offended by the word "falmer," meaning it's probably not the original name of their race.
actually it is hinted in the college quest line that the night of tears happened because the nords were in possession of the eye of magnus
You forgot to mention the three journals that you find in that falmer place with the ice giant that's locked away you have to take them to the college of winter hold I believe and the Orc translates them it talks about a snow elf and his friends and family and how they were locked under ground and waited for an all clear signal to come out.
plot twist: Some of the Snow Elves migrated South, and came across the High Elves. They mixed with they High Elves and eventually founded the Thalmor.
Holy shit...
the thalmor are pure-blooded high elves and are EXTREMELY racist.
It degraded their very essence at a spiritual level.
goodjob Rhexx and Ash!!
You put some great effort into your videos and I really respect that. Great job. New Sub BTW :D
When he was talking about the dwemeers made 3 weapons with a heart, can you find them in skyrim??
Could u do a vid specifically on Ysgramor?
I found a mod that let's you play as any monster in the game so I decided to be a falmer and I learned a lot they tame and use frostbite spiders, skevers, and chorus, they also when you take a closer look at the falmers face where there eyes should be there are no eyes at all THEY HAVE NO EYES but about their hierarchy what I saw is the more armor they have the higher rank they are in their little tribe usually their will be a small group of falmer ruled by a shaman but if it's a bigger tribe they are usually ruled by a falmer warmonger I hope this is accurate information.
my main is so quite .
The falmer don't even know i am standing behind them untill i a arrow flys threw their heart.
I'm so glad i've found your channel!
OMG I love the outro man!!! my favorite outro ever!!!!!!!!!!!!
+john thieme this should have been skyrim's trailer!! XD
Elves in elder scroll can live for thousands of years if they're pure like high elves
In the next Elder Scrolls game they should allow you to be of the Snow Elf race and defy all odds.
oh my i just love your voice and the way you talk!! you are the best!!
1:52 where is that located in skyrim
Remember how he said in the dwemer video that the dwarves disappeared? What if they were teleported into a secret area?It would be cool if we could see the dwemer and the falmer in es6!!!
I love the way dude said "Mzinchaleft Ruins" 😸🤴💯
Braith, the true protector of Whiterun. No wonder she isn't scared of you!
Who wants a elder scrolls game were you find out we're the dwarves are
I will say this, in my Morrowind game, the gantlets the Dwemer made were originally called Raw in there language, they only became know as Wraith Guard by human scholars.
The Darkness It is also stated that when active, the gantlets seemed to expand to cover the entire body wearer in order to protect them from the energies of the heart.
I've been waiting for this one!
Great video you should do a lore of more city's in skyrim like Markarth or Solitude
