Proper answer: It depends. If your processor runs standalone on its integrated graphics chip (Intel HD, no GPU) it will use some of your RAM as VRAM. In this case, the more RAM you have, the more memory Intel HD can utilise and increase your overall graphics performance. You can set how much ram you'd like to dedicate to video ram under a setting in the BIOS (usually called 'DVMT'). If you don't have this setting, then the manufacturer already optimised it for your system dynamically. But if your computer has a dedicated GPU, more ram will just mean you can do multiple tasks simultaneously.
If you run out of VRAM, yes. If you run out of VRAM, your system RAM will be utilized and you'll see a frame dip. If you game at higher resolutions, you'll use more VRAM. Get plenty of VRAM, 6GB or 8GB card for high resolution gaming.

Wrong , because this is not how it works ... actually the game will identify your RAM and displays around it , for exemple if you would play the same game with 4GB 8GB and 16GB you would notice different ram usage with quite same performance even on 16gb you would see la 10gb of usage cause you have more room in your ram to extend the information going there , I'd rather say dual channal of ram than single channal , 8GB is more than enough
+Afro Jack Thanks for the links. I'm really sorry to hear about your card problems, unfortunately these are specific issues, meaning that it can happen to anyone with any gen cards, issues varies from one to another, but it will not happen to most people. there is still the probability of badly manufactured card or faulty components, but in any case, you should contact your card manufacturer regarding this matter, because my gtx 1060 from zotac does not have those problems.
On the topic of Forza, I played it on 8gb of system memory, and since then moved to 16gb in my system (i5 4690, gtx 950 2gb) and the very noticeable stuttering i experienced when having 8gb of RAM disappeared completely when moving to 16 gigs... I thought that was something worth noting... And I checked it, the game easily chews up more than 8gb of RAM! It was the most RAM-intensive game that I played so far...
The same goes for me, but with some other games + Nikola Maksimovic, tried playing deus ex mankind divied was almost impossible, no fps stability, for 10 seconds it would stay at 70 fps, then it would start stutter, and fps would hit 5--9 for 30 seconds, i finished the game playing like that... it was like was i playing the game with onboard graphics, but sometimes i could get 70 fps for 2 minutes +-, i use google chrome, the ram was always 100% and always using 8gb, playing gta V would make my game stutter like that as well, but way less times, i could play the game with no problem for 10 minutes and have the stutter for 1 minute, when i tried using my friend 16gb, it all stopped, now i brought a new one and am expecting it to arrive here.
I've watched 3 of your videos so far (started w search of i5 vs i7) and you've answered many of my questions/thoughts on my gaming rig upgrade. And did it well with the graphs and games you chose. Just wanted to say thanx, and I've subscribed to your channel :)
To summarize, 4gb is the bare bare bare minimum in most games. Some don't work with 4gb. 8gb and 16gb are practically up to par with 8gb sometimes surpassing 16gb and most of the time is 1fps lower than 16gb. 16gb minimum for a 4k content creator but with 8gb you are completely fine and can easily upgrade in the future.
I use the term "future-proofing" in the sense that I am future-proofing for literally anything I could have interest in. And I have interest in video editing, 3D design, gaming(obviously), streaming on Twitch, and other taxing actions on a PC. When I got my PC, I aimed as high as I could with my budget for a build that could yield "acceptable quality" in performance in ALL of these fields. And with an i7 6700k(non-OC; lazy), gtx 980, 16GB RAM, all on an msi z170a gaming pro mobo... yeah. I think it'll handle what I wanna throw at it.
Science Studio Oh, I heard. I was just stating my personal use of the term "future-proofing." Though, I'm not gonna lie: an upgrade from my 980, though not entirely needed, would be cool. c:
***** Because there are a few mods for a few games I would like to try. Of which could push my card harder than I'd like. Or even push me out of that 60fps sweet spot.
For my own pc just for gaming, i got an 8gb combo and i don't believe in future proofing as a few years down the road, i know there WILL be newer hardware OR the costs for another two 4gb ram will wayyyyy cheaper by then. So yeah save yo buck.
the reason i'm upgrading from 4GB to 8GB not because it's lack in performance if i just run a game, but i had to close all my background program to run the game without touching 100% RAM Usage when finally that game had to use my HDD as virtual memory and makes it somewhat slower in performance (somewhere around 5fps)
You really won't hit the limit with 8. Most games use a maximum of 6 gigs anyway. Besides, you're paying around $20 more for 16gb. Like he said, unless you're creating content or have a lot of money, save that $20 and invest in elsewhere.
8GB should be fine. I had 6GB for the longest time and never had any problems. When one of the sticks died and I was left with 4GB, everything except GTA V were fine, GTA V would begin to stutter after an hours worth of playing. Soon restored myself up to 8GB and recently got 12GB of all new RAM, between the 8 and 12, I've noticed no appreciable difference.
LewisHamiltonMSPR it's one of those things that you'll be fine as long as you have enough...and then it won't work anymore lol. and to all those who swear it works so much better the more you have..bruh you need to check into what's using all your ram in the background Cuz something ain't right...
Not quite, because VRAM can pretty much only be accessed by games, system memory however, can and will be accessed by any software running (e.g. Windows, Chrome, etc) and not just games.
I feel like memory is less of a money-killer for it to be a concern of having too much of it. Get 16, or if you can even 32, and you'll be set for a long while. I've got 2x8 Gigs for my ITX build, and even though I thought about 2x16, I think 16 is a sweet spot for not a lot of money.
Well for one thing, RAM sticks in bundles are usually cheaper. In my case, my mobo has only two slots. I either buy an 8 Gig stick for more than I should, or just go ahead and make use of dual-channel for not that much more money. RAM used to be more expensive, but nowadays I don't see the reason to make the cut there.
I don't want to deal with selling old parts if it's not necessary, that's money loss in a sense again. I'd rather just proof it. But hey, we all think differently. My build was after an almost 10 years old PC, so I decided to just go all out this time.
TurboCMinusMinus I had an Athlon 64 x2. I was going for a 6700k, but ended up going for the 6600k, I'm not gonna stream, but I still want the best possible performance. I built in the Inwin 901 which is a bit notorious for it's lack of airflow, but I OC'd the CPU to a solid 4,5 Ghz on air with the Noctua NH-D9L, and IC Diamond paste. I'm getting 27 Celsius idle. This could change because I don't have the graphics card in yet, but I think it's promising. it didn't go above 65 degrees during stress testing. So I'm happy chilling with less demanding games for the time being. I love me some Duelyst. Takes advantage of all 16 Gigs of RAM :P
I just built a PC for my GF and only had 4gb of ram lying around (2x2gb, old mobo only 2 ram slots) and this just saved me $40 from buying new ram. Thank you for your constant benchmarks, my favorite tech channel right now.
Unless your using chrome, or firefox with lots of tabs, browsers and VoIP programs don't really slow down games. Really it depends on the CPU for that, as most games don't use up all the RAM even with other programs like those.
***** I have a laptop from 2007, It was a lenovo T61, and because that it could have the DVD drive removed and replaced with other things, like a extra battery, or an extra hard drive. I used the Discreet GPU replacement. :D It is a GTX 280, with 1GB of vram. Made a 99p laptop a good gaming device for only £17! :)
Virtually any game that wants a fast CPU will also want fast memory and if you DO hit a CPU bottleneck, slower memory will make it worse You're right about it not usually mattering though, because the GPU is typically the bottleneck in most machines and the CPU rarely has a chance to hose the system up, let alone the RAM. Fallout 4 isn't poorly optimized, it's just made on an older updated engine from a decade ago. It's pretty well optimized when you consider how well it can run on a mere i5 2400 paired with a 6950 2GB.
Man I love your videos! They look honest and you are good at explaining stuff. After watching some of your reviews and benchmarks I had to sub and like, because you helped me with my plans to build a kinda budget PC. Also this video helped a lot because of my budget I can safely go for 4GB DDR4 2400Mhz ram and upgrade in near future.
Out of curiosity I just opened task manager and tried to reach 8gb of ram usage. I gave up! I had 50 tabs open, a game and a video playing and it didn't matter. What the hell else would I ever be doing at the same time? It sat at 6.6 gbs. I feel so stupid for having bought 16gb of ram when 8 would have been more than enough. Put this one to bed...
1:30 I am a Cities: Skylines player myself, and I would like you to acknowledge that a lot of players use mods and assets to spice to their gameplay. Which uses up RAM, and GPU power. If you thrown in some mods in there like plop-able RICO, add a few skyscrapers, and throw in a couple of more mods like Move It, iOperateIt, etc. Then you could have possibly run a second test and measure the results.
Not only in the case that money isn`t an issue, it is for gaming as well, you didn`t tested every game out there, nor tested chrome with some program opened, in my case there are games where i cannot play properly with only 8gb, i would say, get 16gb as recommended!
Good news for you is that this video does not take into account other software using ram. Having a browser in background with multiple tabs open will lead to it being swapped out of ram in many games with just 8gigs of ram causing lag as well as extra strain on your SSD/hd. Also loads of games suffer from memory leak issues that causes increased ram usage over time causing increased stuttering and swapping after a period of time. A short benchmark like this will not show these issues. More ram will also cause other benefits as windows caches and keeps things in ram even after closing them, which means if you relaunch a game or application later it will load much faster if it is still cached in ram, while with 8gigs there is a much bigger chance it has to be all loaded from hard drive.
oh. i dont know bout that, thx m8. good explaination. Yeah. because i hate to close my browser tab while im gaming. thats 1 of my main reasons to upgrade. I have stuttering issue while im playing bf1 beta when im using 8Gb ram. So im upgrading it now. Hopefully no more after this.
Test dying light for me it gave 10-20 FPS boost. My Specs: Cpu: i5 4460 Gpu: GeForce GTX 950 Gigabyte WindForce 2X OC 2GB Edition Resolution: 1680×1050 also with different monitor and resolution at 1440×900 Any reason why?
WB IsMe to be honest I did some checks and to my surprise (without making test myself) ... you're right. A lot of forum ports, reddits post, articles (too much to mention) says the same thing. At best, you'll gain 2% in real world situations... I'm shocked as well. Sounds like its only good for video editing and such for me or most people in RUclips
Late Game Reviewer WB IsMe Don't benefit in average, but really benefit in minimun fps. Here's the code of youtube video with in-game tests of different memory frequencies and modes: 1-dX35QRKMM
64GB here because I thought It'd be useful. It was not... It's way more than you actually need for anything you want to do. At least I can play games and have around 300-500 tabs open in Chrome at once without much notice though. If you ever need that many tabs open at once that is.
I have 128gb on my workstation, god damn movie editing uses a lot of RAM, almost considered going up to 256 as my server MOBO can take it. opened up 1,000 tabs in chrome for shits and giggles once, seemed to do totally fine.
Great video - when I upgraded my pc - certain games stuttered or paused after an hour of gaming with 8gb - Some odd reason seemed to happen with my i5-2400 pc. System ram creaps high after non stop gaming. Specs : HP elite 8200 with i5-2400 / evga sc 16gb / Crucial mx300 / Msi 1050 ti lp. Thanx 4 posting
He had such poor choices for games. Also more RAM helps to avoid stuttering not exactly boost FPS. Usually he makes great videos, but this time I don't agree so much. COD BO3, Battlefront, Arkham Knight, Rise of The Tomb Raider, all of them use more than 8GB if available. Whereas his choices do not, thus waste of time, dude.
An SSD basically let you access its storage really fast, so everything installed on it load up much much faster than with an HDD. Windows is the first thing to put on it, so your OS is as responsive as it can, then you can put programs and games so loading times are greatly reduced. Also, SSD are half the price than when I bought mine and it was still a good deal in my opinion back then. Highly suggest an SSD if you have a good working PC.
You should start using Fraps Bench Viewer (record frametimes from fraps and have the program read the file).Your benches should have Average, 1% average and 0.1% average framerate. This way we can actually how much a game is stuttering with the 1% and 0.1% averages. Minimum framerate doesnt say much and neither does maximum. Love the work you are doing, unique stuff that actually require a lot of time behind the computer screen to produce. Subscribed.
Finally subbed now that you are benching WICTHER 3 because that's the game I mostly play right now haha.. been here since you were at 9k subs but waited to subscribe until you bench the games i play.. Great video as always.. Im learning many things from you.. Keep it up..
It would be interesting to see statistics on how much swap in/out is being done with 4GB of RAM for these tests. If an SSD is used for swap, swap in/out performance is greatly improved, but since an SSD can only do so many terabytes written to it before it wears out, if there is a lot of writing (because of lack of RAM and thus heavy swap usage), you're going to wear out your SSD prematurely.
Cool 😎 Video > April 27, 2017 I upgraded from 8gb to 16gb of system Ram & my average fps increased abit ~ it was my Mins that saw Much Better Results when Gaming over an hour & New Triple A open word games ran smooth 👾. Thanx 4 posting 🇵🇹
definitely right about the ssd's, we have system units running on old hardware at our office and ssd's breathe new life into them, i use one now in my rig, night and day difference indeed! never going back to mechanical drives unless for storage purposes because ssd's are so expensive from where i am
I'm blown away that 8gb is all you need. I'm currently piecing a system together on PC Part Picker, and I figured 16gb would be the absolute bare minimum for anything. I'm obviously going to do more research into the topic, but I am quite surprised of your findings.
BTW, for anyone looking at the Cities Skylines one, if you are installing alot of assets, more RAM does make a difference. There is a limit of how many assets you can have installed compared to amount of RAM. 16 gb of ram gives you around 2000 assets, give or take. Just be aware.
Nice video man, but would you consider re-testing the same games, but with other applications open? For example, I played BF4 competitively last year. so recording became an issue with 8GB. also there were a few other applications open. like Team speak, Steam/Origin etc. while TS isn't memory consuming, they do all add up. especially recording. Also, while playing we would use Tacnet for strats. (In chrome)
Ever since I moved from laptop to a desktop, I've always had an SSD in my system, but only recently I've finally gotten another SSD to put my games on, with how fast my pic already was, and fast internet speeds, I rarely noticed a difference unless it was a single player game
Is the next video going to explain RAM speed or timing? Is there already a video that discusses that because this is a topic I'm thinking could use some discussion
cities:skylines was the reason I upgraded from 8 to 16 GB of RAM. 8 GB is plenty for vanilla, but once you start adding mods and assets and building really big cities, its going to gobble up that RAM like there's no tomorrow. I agree that 8GB is the golden standard today, you don't often need more for gaming.
I would definitely not do 4 gigs. 8 gig minimum for sure and 16 gigs is to me a good sweet spot. (Use 8 gig sticks). I know it's not the focus here but if you want to do some video editing...32 gigs is a nice minimum.
Science Studio, I swear you come through at the right times.

Doesn't happen with mine. 32 GB is a crazy amount of RAM.
I'd rather have 4 or 8 GB or RAM. My brother needs a higher-end computer, so it's gonna be a Core i7, a GTX Series graphics card, and 8 GB of RAM.

i stumbled upon your videos and love them. I love the investigative, techy channel, the editing style, the information-packed content...You're doing the whole "youtube tech channel" the right way with your own personal style. Love it! Other channels have started to lose my interest since they're more focused on entertainment than tech...
I have 16GB since I often have lots of programs and browser tabs open while gaming.
Same, I idle at over 8Gb of ram being used lol
How many porn tab did you left it open?
A lot.
I'll only reach 8 gigs used when using After Effects.
William Topping NOT AS BIG AS MINE
Dude I've been wanting someone to compare ram like this. Thanks! Your channel is awesome
Where is the chrome test???.
Watch the entire video...
Salazar Studio I did am I not paying attention hard enough?
You are, there was no chrome test.
@@GregSalazar ??? Memory speeds advertised as part of an XMP profile might not be achievable on AMD-based motherboards. Man, I have to say I'm digging your videos, the knowledge, the content, no regrets subscribing at all. Just KEEP IT UP *THUMBSUP*
kind of a dumb question, but does resolution increase also that ram usage increases?
resolution is 100% gpu dependent
resolution effects vram usage, that being the GPUs ram
I really appreciate all these 1080p videos at 60 fps! It's just so gorgeous to watch.
Thank you so much, Greg! :D
You're fantastic, keep being awesome
When I saw my ram usage at 7.8GB when playing Dying Light, I knew 8GB RAM is not enough anymore...

I'm really impressed with the way you deliver your content.
Great work man.
Overwatch needs 8gb, because it caches to the HDD when it runs out of RAM and there's terrible stuttering when that happens.
I never *recommended* 4GB for gaming. I merely pointed out that it wasn't as bad as many claimed.
By E8500 do you mean Core 2 Duo O.o
+Afro Jack HDD is Hard Disk Drive
Rich people ;(
Im chillin here with my R9 270x
+Afro Jack Thanks for the links. I'm really sorry to hear about your card problems, unfortunately these are specific issues, meaning that it can happen to anyone with any gen cards, issues varies from one to another, but it will not happen to most people. there is still the probability of badly manufactured card or faulty components, but in any case, you should contact your card manufacturer regarding this matter, because my gtx 1060 from zotac does not have those problems.
You have the best PC/gaming content out there, keep it up!!
I bought 16GB on sale because it cost the same as 8GB.
Win-win
Boom!
I hate everything about life today, and im confused
Need a hug?
To summarize, 4gb is the bare bare bare minimum in most games. Some don't work with 4gb. 8gb and 16gb are practically up to par with 8gb sometimes surpassing 16gb and most of the time is 1fps lower than 16gb. 16gb minimum for a 4k content creator but with 8gb you are completely fine and can easily upgrade in the future.
I thought the same thing. I find it annoying when I am depressed and hate everything and he tells me to dislike a video that made my day brighter.
Then you had something you didnt hate today.
wow. u just earned yourself a loyal subscriber. keep up the great work man!
I clearly said in the video that content creators should opt for 16GB RAM at a minimum.
Science Studio Oh, I heard. I was just stating my personal use of the term "future-proofing." Though, I'm not gonna lie: an upgrade from my 980, though not entirely needed, would be cool. c:
Why tho? I'm still on my 4 year old 7970 GHz Edition and it's pretty much fine for 1080p, sometimes even 1440p.
So yeah save yo buck.
i enjoy your channel for the
the reason i'm upgrading from 4GB to 8GB not because it's lack in performance if i just run a game, but i had to close all my background program to run the game without touching 100% RAM Usage when finally that game had to use my HDD as virtual memory and makes it somewhat slower in performance (somewhere around 5fps)
thats a good upgrade!
You really won't hit the limit with 8. Most games use a maximum of 6 gigs anyway. Besides, you're paying around $20 more for 16gb. Like he said, unless you're creating content or have a lot of money, save that $20 and invest in elsewhere.
you'll hit 6 gigs sooner than 8...
Very interesting. Love your vids, keep up the good work man!
Your videos are always so well produced and very informative with great research to back your topics. Keep it up. :-)
I have 8GB of DDR3 and a 390X with 8GB of GDDR5: This means my games can access more VRam than normal Ram! :D
Not quite, because VRAM can pretty much only be accessed by games, system memory however, can and will be accessed by any software running (e.g. Windows, Chrome, etc) and not just games.
Kassenoid That is the reason I said it the way I did.
Awesome video! The studio sounds great with those foam pads on the walls!
Asus z170i Pro Gaming, Windows 10 Pro
It depends what are you content with. Oh, and Skylake doesn't come with stock heatsinks, not the K variants at least.
I just built a PC for my GF and only had 4gb of ram lying around (2x2gb, old mobo only 2 ram slots) and this just saved me $40 from buying new ram. Thank you for your constant benchmarks, my favorite tech channel right now.
i guess you only tested with no other Programms open? most people have a browser/VoIP app etc open.
Unless your using chrome, or firefox with lots of tabs, browsers and VoIP programs don't really slow down games. Really it depends on the CPU for that, as most games don't use up all the RAM even with other programs like those.
Chrome takes like 3 GB of ram for me. take some memory leaking Clients e.g. league of legends and your hovering around 4 GB without a game open.
Lukas Jung
So you would be fine really, unless you had 4GB of ram, where games run, but freeze for a bit making it semi unplayable. :/
yeah I was just saying that this video is a bit pointless, with price of RAM that low.
*****
I have a laptop from 2007, It was a lenovo T61, and because that it could have the DVD drive removed and replaced with other things, like a extra battery, or an extra hard drive. I used the Discreet GPU replacement. :D
It is a GTX 280, with 1GB of vram. Made a 99p laptop a good gaming device for only £17! :)
As a new pc gamer videos like this are invaluable, so thank you. You have a new subscriber
I have 16GB... Of DDR2 :)
Still, I get completely playable framerates with DDR2 ram.
It is 8 slots of 2GB modules, came with the motherboard. :)
I have 32GB of DDR2 ECC on my server :D
8 slots of 4GB modules
8 slots of 32 gig moduals lol.
long live ddr2!
Virtually any game that wants a fast CPU will also want fast memory and if you DO hit a CPU bottleneck, slower memory will make it worse
You're right about it not usually mattering though, because the GPU is typically the bottleneck in most machines and the CPU rarely has a chance to hose the system up, let alone the RAM.
Also this video helped a lot because of my budget I can safely go for 4GB DDR4 2400Mhz ram and upgrade in near future.
would be cool to have included 6gb as well. just for the sake of science :)
I love your work. Keep going bruh.
Put this one to bed...
well 16gb is for rendering stuffs like after effects. Sony vegas. Even 8gb 1333mhz is enough for gaming. Ram doesnt need that much
thank you for making this video!!! helped me a lot!
I got 16 gigs cause when i bought them they were on sale for a really good price at the time
$38.99 for 2 sticks at 4gb each so bought two sets for 16gig
mine was when ram prices went up
got mine way after got lucky after that the prices went up
1:30 I am a Cities: Skylines player myself, and I would like you to acknowledge that a lot of players use mods and assets to spice to their gameplay. Which uses up RAM, and GPU power. If you thrown in some mods in there like plop-able RICO, add a few skyscrapers, and throw in a couple of more mods like Move It, iOperateIt, etc. Then you could have possibly run a second test and measure the results.
16gb never hurts
Only in the case that money isn't an issue.
$20 saved is $20 saved.
i got my 16gb for less than the equivalent 8gb on sale ;)
just wasting money...
Not only in the case that money isn`t an issue, it is for gaming as well, you didn`t tested every game out there, nor tested chrome with some program opened, in my case there are games where i cannot play properly with only 8gb, i would say, get 16gb as recommended!
very helpful, thanks. I've been wondering about this for awhile.
Lol I'm early and I brought some cookies
you eat the cookies with the bleach
No bleach needed here, his channel is super informative and the content is high quality!
No bleach or Greg will start looking like Eminem.
I had to click Yor/nick just to make sure it was you. Well I'm back making videos,.. bye.
+Clorox bleach I have no life....Can I drink you ?
Simple and straight to the point. Thanks!
well. This is dissapointing for me. I just upgrade my ram from 8Gb to 16Gb last few weeks. And now this vid comes out. too bad for me.
Umm it's true what he says. But I run several things instead the background soul monitor music etc. It does matter.
man your videos always rock man...
Test dying light for me it gave 10-20 FPS boost.
My Specs:
Cpu: i5 4460
Gpu: GeForce GTX 950 Gigabyte WindForce 2X OC 2GB Edition
Resolution: 1680×1050 also with different monitor and resolution at 1440×900
Any reason why?
Me too.And microstutters before i upgraded to 8gb
well
i5 750
RX470 4GB
4g
No problem on dying light at all....
Do you check the cpu and gpu clocks, cpu gpu and ram usage, along with the temperatures? If everything is fine... then maybe your psu is faulty.
Yes, but for some reason it is 92-100% GPU usage and 86-100% of CPU usage.
pavle štetić aha halo cap book bill sta
Always with the great vids thanks!!
Free RAM is wasted RAM
Thanks you, you're clearing my mind!!!!
you should test CAS latency and RAM speeds.
very clear explanation sir, thanks!
what is better 4+4 GB 2 sticks or single 8 Gigs one
It depends on how many RAM slots your motherboard has. 4+4 gives you 2x increased memory bandwich, so min. FPS in most of game will be better.
if you're motherboard supports dual channel memory use it. Don't use 1x8gb if you can use 2x4gb.
A large percentage of games don't benefit from dual channel configuration by the way.
This is an awesome video, well done!
32GB here because motherboard can't take anymore
64GB here because I thought It'd be useful. It was not... It's way more than you actually need for anything you want to do. At least I can play games and have around 300-500 tabs open in Chrome at once without much notice though. If you ever need that many tabs open at once that is.
Same here!!! Maple 13 eats them all.
I have 128gb on my workstation, god damn movie editing uses a lot of RAM, almost considered going up to 256 as my server MOBO can take it. opened up 1,000 tabs in chrome for shits and giggles once, seemed to do totally fine.
Thanks for the knowledge!
SSD for OS and main games was the best advice I ever got :) Great video.
Whereas his choices do not, thus waste of time, dude.
bro I love this review, thank you
8 GB of ram is more than enough
and what is wrong with a hard drive
why do you want a ssd ,those things are costly
SSDs are lightning fast and speed up your entire system. If you've never owned an SSD and compared, then you have no idea what you're missing!
Best upgrade ever
120gb SSDs cost from 50 to 65 bucks over at where I live...
And I am planning to get one.
SSD's are great, much speed, much wow
neat. sticking 4gb in my budget build then :D this channel really does help out noobs like me, keep up the great content!
Good video. Nice to see Walter still kickin' ;).
Subscribed.
Great video. Ram speeds next?
hay! good job on this one ,man!!
Finally subbed now that you are benching WICTHER 3 because that's the game I mostly play right now haha.. been here since you were at 9k subs but waited to subscribe until you bench the games i play..
Great video as always.. Im learning many things from you.. Keep it up..
Well I'm glad I made the investment then!
whoa.. never thought you'd reply.. this made my day.. thanks again..
Hey, where do you get those power cable clips that make your cabling so neat? At 0:48
Wow Dude all my quastions are Radical when i see your videos:)LOV YU MAN😂
amazing like always!
this guy deserves more subs
Great video dude thank you.
Thanx 4 posting 🇵🇹
thanks man... big help
Huge help. I'll only get two 4gb ram then and put the leftover toward an even better gpu than I had originally planned. Thanks for the benchmarks
thank you.. your video is awesome.
definitely right about the ssd's, we have system units running on old hardware at our office and ssd's breathe new life into them, i use one now in my rig, night and day difference indeed! never going back to mechanical drives unless for storage purposes because ssd's are so expensive from where i am
I'm blown away that 8gb is all you need. I'm currently piecing a system together on PC Part Picker, and I figured 16gb would be the absolute bare minimum for anything. I'm obviously going to do more research into the topic, but I am quite surprised of your findings.
9th thousand like well deserved! Thanks for making this video, now I can sleep at night.
nice review..... and every interesting outcome
BTW, for anyone looking at the Cities Skylines one, if you are installing alot of assets, more RAM does make a difference. There is a limit of how many assets you can have installed compared to amount of RAM. 16 gb of ram gives you around 2000 assets, give or take. Just be aware.
omg thanks greg i was actually having problems deciding the ram n my next budget build
Nice vid man! Have you ever programmed a on a low level language?
great research....like u r information..
Greg, did you buy that chair at Microcenter by any chance?
