Chronic pain and fear are closely connected. No matter which kind of chronic pain you suffer from, be it fibromyalgia, headaches, back pain or neuropathic pain, when experiencing these sensations fear and stress are triggered immediately. This gives an emotional flavor to the experienced sensation that is very important when we're dealing with acute situation. Sadly it persists when the pain gets chronic and is one of the biggest burdens.
But it also works the other way around - fear, stress and anxiety can lead to the body responding with pain. This fact is often overlooked and dismissed as a symptom that is not that important.
