      The worm: “will reveal no more, ever”.
      I can’t help but think we’ll force the information out of it, by tearing out its memories using deep sight. It could be possible. Who’d need interrogation when you can read the person’s mind; their thoughts, secrets, even the lies they thought they’d tell to diverge us. Though the worm saying Savathun is responsible, and she did it to save the Traveler, tells us the Traveler and Pyramids are not rooted by morality as we once thought. They both may only be based on logic, and principles. They both may not care for us and see us all as pawns. As Mara said before, “The Traveler/Light is not necessarily good”. Before Beyond Light, we were blinded by the Light to so many truths. Zavala saying the Hive having the Lights makes less and less since is proof of this. We most likely can no longer put blind faith in the Traveler anymore, and we should no longer completely fear the Darkness, but be wary of those among it that seek our destruction- the Witness. We may only be able to not only win this eternal conflict, but end it forever by transcending Light and Darkness, by walking between, and finding a new grey clarity.

She's always been Savathun but good in a way, always knowing more then she's letting on but her being weird and eventually revealing (albeit in the lore tab of parasite) that what sent her on this lil quest was a vision of her as a Disciple of the Witness, serving someone else... thats real intriguing.

      @@LifeWulf yes and no. While we are exacting our might and taking out weaker beings as the sword logic commands, we do so in more complex and deceptive ways aka bomb logic. Compare how simple and personal a blade is compared to the intricacies of a bomb and the ability to be away from the danger if you desire to do so, making it much less personal and “I am simply stronger than you.” Rather than taking a simple tool such as a blade and using overwhelming force to kill our enemies, we as the guardian use much more complex mechanics to do so. For example, King’s Fall. Even in his throne world, we couldn’t just shoot Oryx to death, we had to go through various mechanics and steps to force him into a position that made him vulnerable, much like a bomb having many mechanisms and steps to actually do its intended job, even at the simplest scale. Xol was killed by us knowing to use Rasputin’a gift of the Valkyrie to help kill Xol, and the Deep insists on taking things by force, not being given something. We didn’t force Rasputin to help us, we accepted his aid. Savathun’s worm wasn’t extracted by us or Mara just bashing open the crystal, having people hold Savathun down, and gutting her; rather it was a months-long process of gathering Techeuns and waiting for them to have the ritual/spell/whatever prepared with Mara. While we do beat the hell out of our foes like the sword logic would dictate, we actually do so following the bomb logic. We still exact our might, but not in a way as simple and straightforward as the sword logic would be. The Hive gods themselves used bomb logic to cheat the sword logic with both the tithing system and the creation of throne worlds, and savathun took that to another level with the “murder battery” she created in the Dreaming City. Sorry for the rant but I guess my point is that the sword logic is very simple and personal while bomb logic, which can be used in part with sword logic, involves much more intricacy and has more players/pieces involved.

    After doing this quest I was flipping through old lorebooks, and found that the worm's claim(and thus a huge reveal in WQ) is corroborated by the CONSTELLATIONS lorebook of all things. This book is about the speaker(s) during and after the collapse. For context the speakers during the golden age are "spoken to" by the Traveler in dreams, including visions of the whirlwind, on the 2nd page "I'd watched in my dreams the cities that fell, alien cities, torn down by a wind so fierce it flattened an entire world [[and it is not my fault]]" The Traveler has a voice in this book represented by bracketed text. The next thing on that page is "But this is different. The Traveler has not left us. Something new [[half remembered and wished forgotten, this false-sister]] has arrived." Assuming that "false sister" refers to Savathun, this corroborates BOTH reveals in WQ, that the Travels was going to choose the Krill(as it remembers her) and that Savathun intervened in the collapse. That this lorebook from 2 YEARS AGO in a sentence that seems in retrospect to be obviously talking about Savathun clearly aligns with what now are massive revelations blows my mind.

      At the end of the main campaign, I made a comment 2 videos ago about how for some reason, Savathun’s end dialogue made me feel somewhat sad. Even though her genocidal atrocities can never ever be forgiven, the traveller may have chosen to revive her with the light because she and her siblings as Krill, were always intended for it. Even now, whilst every scheme is done for her own benefit, to some extent, it has inadvertently helped the traveller. For the pool of reflection speaks of the Witness’s power to move worlds (hence planet abductions). However, Savathun’s throne world may be the one place the Witness might not be able to reach due to some possible dimensional mechanics.

She has repeatedly, at great personal risk, aided us. All that said, we need to be prepared to not like her methods. I have faith in Mara, her mission has always been humanities survival and in every timeline we've been told about so far she has always stood against the witness. However it's whispers are tempting and I wouldn tput it past Bungie to throw us that final curve ball of her fall and becoming a disciple, but I can't see it happening until at least light fall.

    • @Alyrael
      @Alyrael 2 года назад +3

      I wouldn't say her fall would be willing. I'm sure she could withstand the whispering temptations the Darkness speaks, she knows it's nonsense, but I believe her fall would be lead by the fear she felt at her envisioned future, much like the Stranger.
      She wouldn't fear it unless she entertains the possibility of it happening, which I think she does as it clearly bothers her enough to shake her stoic and firm demeanor, and I feel like when pushed, she might eventually break.
      When faced with the dying worm, she was unable to think of a reasonable solution that your Ghost of all things came up with. Go see Fynch, the Hive Ghost. She even considers dying to prevent her visions.
      This quest shows that she's not infallible and might even be more vulnerable than she wants anyone to know, at least regarding how much all this is affecting her, being shown herself as subservient and grateful to the Witness of all things. It could cause her to lash out and inadvertently aid the Witness in their machinations.

      I'm glad Mara admitted she has contingency plans, someone who's as careful of a planner as her would definitely do that, and her lying about it to keep us in the dark would be more suspicious.
      as for the dark timeline, I still consider it almost a joke by the writers. Eris being secretly evil is a popular fan theory and so they elevated her above Savathun when now that we know just how deep Savathun's schemes run, it makes no sense for Eris to somehow outrank her. The stuff that happens in the dark timeline is imo almost not canon, Elsie came here because our timeline is wildly different from that one.

    In my opinion, I'd say I'd believe until proven otherwise. We have the means to fight her if ever the time arrives, and have the means to free her from corruption if it occurs with the help of her vast techeuns. It is easier to harbor an alliance if backed with the first reaches of friendship. I'd honestly raise a hand forward to allow Mara to divulge more secrets with us, because as a person it is one of her biggest weaknesses. She has no one to listen to her about these sorts of issues.

    In all seriousness, I trust her. I keep thinking back to Sjur’s dream, of Mara breaking a pyramid open. She’s done too much to ruin the Darkness and the Witness’ plans. She wants power and control, but only to protect her people from those who threaten them. I think she’ll get it, and break the Black Fleet wide open. We’ll see though!

    I had a sinking feeling that we did the wrong thing when we downed Savathun, and this quest only confirmed it. Not because she has our best interests in mind, but because as a guardian, she finally has an objective that aligns with ours- the protection of the Traveler. And though she painted the path behind her in blood, she's also an unfathomably ancient being of great knowledge and power, which would make her an undeniably powerful ally in the battle against the Witness. Sure, she might turn on us, but I'd rather deal with facing the Hive than with that megamind-looking mfer

      See, there wouldn't be anything protecting the City anymore is the key thing. Granted we don't know if sealing the traveler in the throne world would cut off the light from elsewhere, but that's really not a risk to be taken. In a lightless scenario, the pyramids wouldn't even need to attack. It could be something as similar as some fallen or cabal that could steamroll the city no problem.

While Ghost as a character has long moved away from "Light always good, Darkness always bad", i really wish there was an option for it to not be so confrontational. remember when savathun said she chased the traveller as an enemy and once as a collecter. Before going to the traveller for her rescue and doing other stuff to get him to revive her, she wanted the traveller as part of her collection just like the pyramid. In a conversation between her and nokris in a lore tab, savathun talked about how she wanted to ascend light and dark. If you are curious about this then look for a video by byf about savathun story. • @bradwhite5884
      @bradwhite5884 2 года назад +7

      Simple, pick neither sides, both sides sounds bad, too much light overshadowing darkness can overrun with life and such, but too much darkness then light means everything is dead and no life, there should be a third option, and Bungie should lean into that tbh, a balance between both, that's what I think tbh, or we could get a third paracausal that represents both light and darkness, may be the creator of both, may intervene to stop his children from ruining the universe, always sit back and watch his children play but step in if they overdone things, and so on, also this being be represented as another shape, and that is a freaking cube, lol

      @@bradwhite5884 this is a point where Mara either is lying or there is a plot hole. She has told us something like (paraphrasing) “when there is too much light, darkness will creep in to snuff it out, and when there is too much darkness, light will rise to resist it.” So it’s a set of scales that need to balance in that respect. However, she also says to us that she heard the exo stranger in a dream say “a side must always be chosen, even if it’s the wrong one.” The next thing she says is “I think I’d like her (the stranger).” That implies she agrees we should pick a side, making the scales not balanced unless we always have some enemy balancing out the other side. Mara somehow both says to pick and not to pick a side in different lore readings.
