@@cass16433 Loretta Lynn is a good guess for being Queen of Country, but Kitty Wells has that title. Everyone in the country music business has given Kitty Wells the title of Queen of Country. Likewise, they refer to Roy Acuff as The King of Country. Most think George Jones is The King of Country, but he actually has the title of The President of Country, and Tammy Wynette is The First Lady of Country.

This song is definitely not about Reba and her dad. Her dad was alive (he passed away in 2014) and well when she recorded/released this song in 1991 and if I recall correctly she's always said that they had a pretty close relationship when she was growing up.

I was raised by a military father. When I was growing up there was not a lot of hugs and love anything like that. He worked his butt off to provide for us. He is now 87 and he’s told me he wished he could change everything that he ever said or did. He tells me on a daily basis how much he loves me. How proud he is of me. How much I’ve Overcomed in my life . We talk about anything and everything. I love my daddy so much. I was glad that I got a second chance with him. To see the most amazing father. Who married a woman with seven children. But never neglected his responsibility to his two other children

My dad passed in 2014.. and he wasn't great but he was my dad. And I miss that relationship. I was 21. 6 years in august. You never think about your parents dying. And then they do. Reba is so perfect.
This song always makes me cry. I had this same type of relationship with my dad when I lived with him. I am grateful and blessed we have a wonderful relationship now.
The first time I heard this song, I had just become a father for the 2nd time. It moved my heart. From that day forward I made sure to tell my now 3 grown daughters, and 2 young granddaughters, that I love them each and every day. In fact, I started making sure I said how I felt to every person in my life. My old school blood brother used to laugh at me, but now he does the same.

You’ve got to listen to “Bobby” and to “All Dressed Up.” They we’re not released for radio but are on her “For My Broken Heart” album. That whole album is amazing. These two make me cry every time I listen to them.

He left to spend more time with his wife. He said the fame and popularity he was rapidly gaining would eventually ruin his relationship if he didn't step away. His words " I have to step away, I don't want fame to take me away from the love of my life. I know she would be there no matter what, but I feel it would be unfair to her if I couldn't spend every day with her like I have sence the day we got married.". That man was going somewhere so fast. But he chose the love of his life over fame and Fortune. His choice. His wife was telling him to go for it, but he chose to not take his time and devotion away from her. Those type of men ( and women in general) are rare as hell in this world. So please react to that song and video. Her movie “is there life out there” includes this song as a poem and it really shows you the emotion and background of it all, I love it so much, as well as her movie “Forever love” after her song absolutely amazing and heartfelt and tear jerking. I credit Reba and this song with changing the relationship between my father and myself. Until this song, I never really thought much about our relationship. He was my dad. I loved him, and he loved me. Of course. We rarely talked. We hugged sometimes, but never like my mom and I did. He came from that era you see, where men didn't show emotion or tell their kids they loved them. It was a given. I never connected to him like I did my mom. He was a good father. A good husband. A good provider. What the "traditional" definition of a father was supposed to be. But this song opened my eyes to my dad in a whole new way. I went out of my way to talk to him, or with him I should say. I told him I loved him every day. And soon enough the words came easily to his lips as well as mine. It seemed a pity I never really "knew" the man for the first twenty years of my life. But I'm grateful for the remaining twenty we had together.
Omgosh I forgot all about this song! I used to relate to it a lot but my father and I's relationship has really improved over the years.
I made it through this song but when she said the line the man i thought could never die has been dead almost a year i started crying. My dad died almost a year ago so that spot really hit me hard. This song reminds me of my grandpa... he was always so focused and stern ...he raised his 6 kids on his own ( would go to work with an empty lunch box so his kids wudnt go without) .... he grew old and somewhat bitter... the night after he died we found a box under his bed...filled with pictures ... he kept every single drawing his kids and grandkids drew him...he had my mom and her siblings...first hair cuts and such ... and in this box we found out his love for photography he had kept hidden...a half brother no one knew about .... the box showed a much softer side to him ..... I often wonder why he choose to hide all of this under a tough and stern exterior
