Ani plays Classic Doom 3

  • Finally, I touch upon Doom 3 in some form. However I won't be playing the actual campaign until I get another storage box for videos.
    Instead I'll touch upon this fan favorite so that I can start simple.
    There are some jank here and there but that's really the best you had back in 2007. Id Tech 4 modders didn't have as much resources as Id themselves did without licensing the engine for a commercial game.
    Unlike the actual game, the shotgun it actually good and not some shitty melee weapon. Sadly the chaingun was nerfed same with the rocket launcher. Only inflicting half the damage on enemies like pinkies.
    The in-game cutscenes are goofy and hard to take seriously but that was the style for mods at the time.
    Modeling on stuff like Doomguy though look rough and cosplay like. Given how scrawny D3 Marine is. The end cutscene was pretty decent though.
    I hate the hitscanners though. The shotgunners especially for how they REALLY hurt. Spectres return and I can understand why they were cut from the actual Doom 3. Thankfully both pinkos take 2 direct shotgun blast to the face.
    Hellknights who take the Barons' place were a lot tougher than usual and it did feel a bit like a boss battle. No monster ambush but I guess it wouldn't be fun to make in Id Tech 4's level style or animate in a cutscene.
    This will most likely never be continued for legal reasons but if the shotgun was as reliable as here in the retail version, I feel it'd be a lot better and more fun to play.
    I'll eventually get to the actual Doom 3 and it's two expansions someday. I'll just need time to collect what I need to make that a reality.
