A tufting gun will absolutely save you time if you are punch needling. I recently did a piece using both a punch needle and my gun (which is cut-pile, so it has a different look than punch needle). There are some things that the punch needle is better for, but you're going to get speed with the gun.

I think it’s monks cloth. I think I made my frame to big though and it isn’t tight enough...for whatever reason it keeps ripping threw the lines I draw and the yarn keeps falling out smh 🤦🏾♂️

I love the font you used for the writing! Do you have to draw backwards on one side to make it show up correctly on the other or is the front of the rug the side facing you like in painting? When you use the correct adhesive, they are safe to walk on! The only thing to worry about is them getting dirty. They can only be spot treated and cleaned like normal carpets are. No machine washing. And yes, you do have to draw the image backwards. I use a projector now, which makes it much easier!

Hi there! Thank you :) I haven't experimented a ton with different types of wool. I use 3-ply wool that is made for rugs. It is strong enough to withstand walking on it. Free to experiment though! It's fun to see the different textures you can get with different yarns. And regarding the needle, there isn't actually a proper needle. It's more like a nose. And it does not need to be replaced from what I understand.

hi! hmm what kind of cloth are you using? I personally have not had this problem with the cloth from here tuftinggun.com/collections/tufting-cloth
tufting cloth is unique because it allows the gun to "puncture" the cloth without actually creating a hole or ripping it

Do you use a paint brush for the adhesive? Or a flat non bristled stirring brush? Also with the felt backings do you ever apply a nonslip coating?
Either works! And no, but I use a rubber-backed felt for small pieces

The biggest advantage with cut pile is that you don't need to use scissors. With a loop pile, you have to trim the yarn after each line you tuft

Depends on what yarn I'm using! Typically I use two now, but the yarn I use is a bit thin with just one strand

No, you can’t tuft into a a jean fabric. It’s to tight. You would have to sew the tufted piece onto the jacket

For heavy traffic rugs, I recommend investing in rug wool. I have some acrylic rugs in my home that aren’t standing up well to foot traffic.
