    I raise sheep on my farm in Montana. I don't know who you saw shearing sheep, but my sheep are GLAD to get sheared before the heat of summer. They are not hurt in the process. So I don't know where people get this thing that wool is "cruel".

    • @FoxFercious
      @FoxFercious 3 года назад +19

      You can find quite a few undercover videos of cruel practices on wool farms. Rough handling, abuse, tail docking, mulesing with no anesthesia or pain relief, dirty living conditions, and sheep being sent to slaughter when they are no longer making the wool farmer money for whatever reason.

    • @discoravenmoved
      @discoravenmoved 3 года назад +13

      Do your research!! Some sheep are even skinned, alive, in the process. Smaller farms like yours are much more likely to be humane.

    • @unidentifiedbunny
      @unidentifiedbunny 3 года назад +7

      yes its good for sheep to be sheared because they get hot and a few other reasons but many larger farms with any animal will be working for efficiency rather than the quality of life of the animal and theyll abuse them

    • @w11granny72
      @w11granny72 3 года назад +5

      Omg I was sent a horrific film of sheep being sheared by PETA. Also getting their tails cut off, no anaesthesia, just to make shearing easier. It really sickened me and I feel the same now just remembering their screams. Think it was filmed in Australia somewhere. So glad to hear that you are treating your sheep well.

    • @missioncreekfarm7715
      @missioncreekfarm7715 3 года назад +12

      @@w11granny72 Docking is not just to make shearing easier. I've never known any shepherd that docks for that reason. Parasites and blow flies are why sheep are docked. Sheep die from blow flies. It's ugly. The long tails and wool make a breeding ground for parasites and are worse for the sheep than being docked.

    If you cut the bottom 2 inches off of a 2 litre plastic bottle you can feed the yarn through the pour hole and put your bundle inside. Recap it with the bottom n a few tape tabs and it will sit in the corner of your yarn stand behind the peg on the end according to what I saw when you were describing why you rewind before using bundles. I love your video and Im so much more comfortable now that Ive watched your video.

    I am a machine knitter, and I use a yarn winder to spin my yarn into a
    yarn cake, which draws from the center of the cake. This will help
    anyone who has purchased yarn not on a cone. We ,machine knitters
    also experience yarn buildup in our machines, and routinely have to
    clean and oil them.

    Figured I’d share with you- as far as oiling the machine goes do NOT use sewing machine oil! You can actually shorten the life of your gun. Sewing machine oil is meant to make things sticky. It is made of minerals. You def want to use an oil that makes things slide. I use an oil frm amazon called “3 in one” oil. Sewing machine oil will make your machine gunky

    I used to watch sheep being sheared when I was young. Because sheep no longer have the ability to "shed" their wool seasonally, they were bred to retain all the wool, they have to be sheared. It looks kind of violent, and they're definitely not keen on the entire process, but leaving them unsheared is now dangerous to their wellbeing. I'm a little perplexed at the "unethical" methods you've mentioned, at least in Australia and New Zealand they employ tried and true methods safely. Any skin grazes caused by the sheep struggling while being sheared are treated before they're released after being shorn. A good shearer doesn't hurt them, but certainly has to hold them very firmly to avoid any unfortunate shallow cuts, but it's backbreaking work for the shearer and some sheep are particularly active. As someone who loves animals, my first concern when watching this process, live, for the first time, was "are they okay? does it hurt?" and apart from "shaving nicks" which happen occasionally, it isn't "unethical" and causes no lasting hurt or harm. Alpaca have to be actually trussed and tied, otherwise the shearer will get kicked to death, if the animal is uncooperative. Experienced shearers will ALWAYS have super sharp shears - which are just like knives; you'll cut yourself badly on a blunt knife because it will slip instead of cutting, and despite how disturbed the sheep look, they aren't being hurt usually.

    Can you use 5mm yarn on a 9mm gun? What size yarn and gun are you using ?

    Amazing video! What kind of wrist brace are you using? Does it lessen the vibration effects in help with the wrist pain? :)

    Ok, I have a few questions.
    - What brand is your tufting gun and how much is it?
    - Do you need glue for the back?
    - Do you have to trim the top?
    - Where did you get your stand?
    I would appreciate it if you replied!

      I recommend checking out my other videos! I answer all of those questions. And my frame was made by a local carpenter 🔨

    Your hair is always so cute. Is that your natural texture?
