Thanks, someone told me you can store them between your mixing bowls to keep them from clanking together, so that's what I'm going to do. Glad you liked the bags. All my family members seemed to really like the ones they received. Happy New Year! 💕Lisa
The timing of this video is perfection! Like everyone who sews, I've resolved to start my Christmas sewing earlier next year, like, in January! 😅 Thank you for everything- the tips, fabric recommendations and all the linked resources in the description! I think your gifts are lovely and I'm sure the recipients were delighted to receive them!
Thank you so much! I think they were all a big hit with my family members! I want to start my Christmas sewing earlier this year also. I waited and made most of them the 10 days before Christmas! Hope you have a wonderful new year and can start the year with lots of gift making! 💕Lisa
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you take us all through those Beautiful and Stunning creations. I love ❤️ ❤❤❤ everything that you’ve created and your family are going to be thrilled to receive them too. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up too.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I think everyone enjoyed their gifts. Now I have to come up with completely new gift ideas for this year. Thank goodness there's YT and Pinterest! Take care & happy sewing, 🥰Lisa
Thanks for watching and commenting! You'll definitely enjoy using the weights. I love mine and I'm getting ready to order a second set. Besides holding down your pattern pieces, they are also good for keeping your excess fabric from falling off your sewing table or countertop. Happy sewing, 💕Lisa
This is the first time I have seen your videos and love it. I like that you say that you can learn from others. This next Christmas everything just might be homemade...
Thanks and welcome! Every time I want to learn something new, I just go search it on YT, LOL! I hope to do several gift idea videos throughout the year. Maybe that will help me get an earlier start on my gift making! Hope you have a very happy New Year! 💕Lisa
Aw, I’m glad she liked it!🥰. I don’t think my daughters have tried theirs yet. I just made me a couple this weekend. Thanks for sharing and happy sewing! 💕 Lisa
Enjoying listening and watching all your beautiful makes for Christmas gifts. I’ve made all but the casserole carrier and will give that a try this coming year. This Christmas I made fleece tie blankets for all the little kids with Triangillow pillow by purple pineapple studio. Made double zip pouches and tissue holders. Cord keepers and couple sling bags for the older girls. Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year 2024 🎉.
Thanks for watching! Sounds like you made a lot of gifts! I haven't heard of the Triangillow pillow, so I'll have to check that out! Hope you have a very happy New Year! 💕Lisa
Thank you so much for the links to get the wonderful care tags! I downloaded them before I even finished watching your video ... but came back to finish and glad I did. I also love spoonflower fabrics. And you mentioned Noodlehead patterns - the very first bag I made several years ago was a zippered pouch pattern of theirs that I found free on-line and have made it several times as travel pouches as Christmas gifts for friends. Great video - new subscriber here!
I can't wait to browse her designs! It was so nice for her to make the Forage bag free. I know it takes a lot of time and effort to develop a quality pattern! Happy New Year, 💕Lisa
Just found your channel and really enjoyed this video. We are Jewish so do not keep Christmas but I love to sew gifts for birthdays and other milestones. You've given me lots of ideas. Thank you
They actually fit our queen pillows quite well. I measured the last pillowcases that I bought and they are 32” long and 42” around. The ones I made are 32” long and about 40.5” around. If the measurements I gave are too big for your pillows, just shorten the length of the main body piece of the case and make it narrower. You could also shorten the cuff section a little. Thanks for watching! 💕Lisa
This is the first time I have watched your channel. You have inspired me so much! I love the gifts you made for your family. I have done the pillowcases and the kids loved them! I want to do the bowl cozies next. Thank you for sharing!
I have several leather dies for cutting. I use a cheap plastic cutting board from the dollar store. If you want to keep it from sliding and it will also absord some lf the noice you can adhere sticky crafters foam from walmart. Its thin sheets of foam in the craft section.
Love your projects. I have been making the bowl cozies for years. I make the smaller size. I also make all kinds of bags.lovesome of your tips that I haven’t heard before. First time here
I just found you and as soon as I seen you using Walmart fabrics I HAD to subscribe! I love Walmart fabrics but so few people use them. Love all your projects, can't wait to binge all your old videos ❤
Thank you so much! I remember when I was a young girl, that our Walmart had a fabric/ sewing section that took up a very large corner of the store and there was always someone working in it. My mom got fabric there all the time. I miss those days because now my Walmart just has this tiny little section of fabrics and sewing notions and there is never anyone working in it. 😢 But the good news is you can order online and my fabrics were delivered very quickly. I also like that you don’t have to order a two yard minimum like you do with Joann’s. I also ordered the Wrap N Zap from Walmart because they had the lowest price. Thanks for watching and commenting! Happy New Year and Happy Sewing! 💕Lisa
I've liked all the fabric types I've gotten so far. Their denim is very heavy duty. So far I've tried that and cotton lawn, crepe de chine, most all their knits, and the light weight cotton twill. Maybe she got the cotton poplin. It's fairly thin. I have the sample box with a small piece of each type of fabric. Thanks for commenting! 💕Lisa
Thanks, I just checked out a video on it and it looks really cool. Did you use a vinyl lining for it? If so, where do you get your vinyl lining? I've never bought any or worked with any. Thanks for watching and the suggestion! Happy New Year! 💕 Lisa
I used ottertex waterproof canvas from fabric wholesale direct for the outside and the lining. No need for interfacing. And I used one inch wide strips of the same fabric to bind the seams. It’s very durable.
I just discovered you & subscribed. I love how detailed you are when showing your makes, which are all really nice. I learned a lot from you & also from your viewers' comments.
Sheri, thanks for subbing! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and the YT sewing community is wonderful about helping each other out! Happy sewing, 💕Lisa
Good point, I meant to mention that, but completely forgot! I’m going to get a couple made up for myself. I love hot soup and chili in the winter months. Happy New Year! 💕 Lisa
You can also put spices into the inside of the bowl cozies to let off scents. A friend made one that she put cinnamon in and it always smelled so good!
Sounds like a great plan! I hope to put out several gift idea videos throughout the year and not just at the end of the year. Hopefully, that will help people start their gift making earlier! Thanks for watching & commenting! 🩷Lisa
Hi Lisa. I wish I could say. I am completely well, but I am not. I wish I had the energy to sew, but I just don't have the umph right now. Hopefully, this illness will go away quickly. I enjoyed watching your video. Your bowl cozies are beautiful. I did not know you can order fabric from walmart online😅😅😅
Hi Zelda, I hope you are feeling better soon. I will keep you in my prayers. I also ordered the Wrap N Zap from Walmart online. It was cheaper than from Joanns. Thanks for watching & commenting! I hope your new year will be healthier than 2023!💕 Lisa
I often get those sticks free inside bags of polyester stuffing. I have so many I decided to keep them all over my sewing room, like a couple at my sewing table, one by my cutting table, one by my ironing board, etc. I find it really handy instead of going back and forth. I do the same with scissors, pencils, tape measures, etc
Yes, I like using those sticks too! I haven’t had to buy any stuffing lately and my last stick broke a few months ago, but I have a lot of unused knitting needles. Someday I want to actually knit with them!😆 Happy New Year! 💕 Lisa
Thanks so much! Here's a link to the printable care tags for the bowl cozies. I think you need to subscribe to The Birch Cottage (just name and email) and then she will email you a link to the tags. Happy sewing! 💕Lisa www.thebirchcottage.com/6-printable-microwave-safe-bowl-cozy-care-tags/
Thanks so much! The cotton lawn fabrics were from Spoonflower and the designer was Studioxtine. Here's a link: www.spoonflower.com/en/fabric/8387894?fabric=cotton_lawn_apparel&size=YARD
I love your videos! May I ask the paint brand and color of your walls and framing pieces? I need to refresh my studio! Thank you for giving to all of us!
Thank you so much! Both colors are by Sherwin Williams. The trim is Pure White SW 7005 and the walls are called Quietude SW 6212. My laundry room is next to my office/sewing room and it is also painted with Quietude. My rooms have been this color for 7 years and I still love it just as much. It's my calm and creative space! I believe Lowe's will also color match any Sherwin Williams color. Have a very happy and creative New Year! 💕Lisa
Thank you for video. Question on the bowl cozy. I would like to practice my quilting on this cozy do I quilt the outside separately and quilt the inside separately or just the outside
Thanks for watching and commenting! The outside and inside fabrics are both quilted separately to a layer of batting and then they are sewn together. Happy sewing, 💕Lisa
Nice. I noticed that with Spoonflower you can kinda choose the type of fabric you want and the pattern, which is nice for those who make these items to sell. But, boy is it so much pricier than the already expensive designer cotton fabrics. Couldn't do that and make them affordable. Not for my area. Loved your video!
Yes, they are a little on the pricy side. They have their fabrics on sale a lot and I always wait for a sale to order. They usually put their fabric by the yard 20-30% off and they'll run their fat quarters on a separate sale for 40-50% off. I used one of their "fill a yard" templates when I ordered the denim so that I could get a half yard of each print instead of a whole yard. Do you sell some of the items that you make? If so, what kind of items do you make? Happy New Year, 💕Lisa
Thanks for letting me know. Atelier Jupe has some very lovely blouse patterns. I have the Olivia blouse pattern and plan to make it this spring. I may have to get the Frida one too! 🥰 Happy Sewing!
Question At 9:23 in video re: spoonflower fabric. What fabric 'level/type ' did you order for the pillow cases. I've recently ordered from spoonflower but went with the least expensive. What did you order as pillow cases would need to be comfortable.
You’re welcome! I love their cotton lawn. It’s light weight with a tight weave giving it a crisp, slightly silky feel. Plus I do think it comes out of the dryer better than some quilters cotton or cotton poplin. It does iron well if you want an even smoother look. Thanks for watching! 🥰 Lisa

My sister doesn’t like spoon flower fabrics. She said it’s very thin and cheap. But that fabric looks very nice.
💕Lisa
I would recommend Noodlehead's Making Backpack. Not free, but an easy bag with great shape. Simple to customize as well.
Thanks, I just checked out a video on it and it looks really cool. Did you use a vinyl lining for it? If so, where do you get your vinyl lining? I've never bought any or worked with any. Thanks for watching and the suggestion! Happy New Year! 💕 Lisa

Love everything you made. Did you prewash any of the fabric?
Thank you and yes, I washed and dried everything first except for the batting. Happy New Year! 💕 Lisa
Nice. I noticed that with Spoonflower you can kinda choose the type of fabric you want and the pattern, which is nice for those who make these items to sell.
