Great video, thanks. I look forward to part 2. And thank you for talking about "Christmas" 🌲as opposed to "Holiday" gifts. Holidays are when we visit the beach with our bucket & spade!🌞😎😂
thank you for all these great pattern ideas. I have a tartan cape that was made for me when I was a child (family tartan, fabric bought when we visited family in Scotland, so sentimental value). I have wanted to deconstruct it and use the fabric to make something as a gift for my brother and sister-in-law for Christmas. I really liked the block zippered pouch for my brother and the wave tote for s-i-l with the tartan as the accent on the pocket.
What a great idea, although I’d have a hard time giving the items away. I have very few things from my childhood due to a house fire. They would just be too sentimental!☺️ anyway I’m sure they will appreciate the thoughtfulness and the sentiment. Thanks for sharing! 💕💕 Lisa
Thank you for creating a great video with complete explanations about each item. I'm subscribing and I can't wait for your next video. You also have a wonderful voice, It's a joy to listen to you.
What a great compilation. I love the pelican tote, I have been making bags and matching purses for Christmas gifts so this will make a great alternative to the ones I have been making. Thank you for sharing x
The Clematis is a very beginner bag maker friendly. The instructions are very good, and there are some free sew along videos available, too. I think this is a good addition to your list. It's like potato chips - you can't make just one...
Thank you! I don't have any sew-alongs planned at the moment. I've never filmed one, but I know they take a lot more time than a regular video. Maybe when I retire, I'll be able to do some.🙂 I do enjoy watching other sewists' sew-alongs! 🩷
Lisa, thank you for sharing the links to some great gift ideas! I especially like the wave pocket tote and love your choice of colors and patterns… it’s lovely! You popped up on my home page today and I’m so glad you did… I subscribed!
I recently made Caroline’s at SewCanShe tote of many pockets recently. I made 6 of them using a combination of upholstery, cotton, batiks and a polyester for the lining, switching up the fabrics in the 3 different layers of fabric for the pockets. It’s a great pattern. It’s fully lined. It does get thick where the pockets lay upon each other. Domestic machines will need to switch to a denim needle if using upholstery or heavier weight fabric than just cotton’s.
Thanks for asking. Are you talking about the ones that can go around your waist like a fanny pack? Or a small one that attaches to an actual belt you would wear through belt loops? 🥰 Lisa
Here's a free one from Sewing Times:sewingtimes.net/diy-waist-belt-bag-for-beginner/ And here's another one from Sewing Times for $4.25:insewingtimes.com/product/everydaybeltbag-pdf-sewing-pattern-st3142/ 🙂
Wow, I’ve never seen a free pattern being sold out before. That just happened recently because it didn’t say that a couple of days ago when I was selecting patterns for the video. Maybe it’s gotten really popular and they are thinking about making it a paid pattern. Anyway, sorry about that and thanks for sharing the information. Happy sewing! 🥰 Lisa
I noticed on your wave pocket tote you attached the handles across the bag rather than having a handle on each side. Is there an advantage to doing it that way?
Oops, I just looked at the picture incorrectly and was also hurrying to finish it for the video! 🤨 LOL I thought the straps seemed a little awkward when I was trying to put it on my shoulder! 🙄 I guess I can redo them later if they start to bother me. I'll probably use it as a project bag, so they'll probably be okay. I will definitely change them though if I give it as a gift. Thanks for pointing that out! 😀

You are so welcome! Hope you enjoy part two and three also! Christmas will be here soon, I’ve got to get busy! 💕🥰🌟
Great beach bag, loved the Hobby Lobby print with piping!
Me too, I think I'm going to keep that one! Thanks for watching and commenting! 💕 Lisa

Good to know! I think it’s such a cute pouch and I can’t wait to try out some of the vinyl and faux leather that I bought! Happy sewing! 💕💕 Lisa
You chose some very nice patters from great designers. I hope your fan base enjoys them. Are you planning on doing a sew-along on any of them?

Love the Wave tote. I plan on making a few. Thank you!

Wow, it’s nice knowing that you liked the pattern so much that you made it six times! It’s definitely on my list to make! Thanks for sharing! 🥰 Lisa
I've made two of the Heidi bags by Swoon and I love it. It's not hard to make. It was my first time using vinyl but it was pretty easy!
Okay, good to know. I think it will be my first vinyl project also! 🙂 Thanks for watching and commenting! 🥰 Lisa
Thank u for this. Do u have any suggestions for belted bags which are very much in style right now. Even men use them.
Thanks for asking. Are you talking about the ones that can go around your waist like a fanny pack? Or a small one that attaches to an actual belt you would wear through belt loops? 🥰 Lisa
Like a fanny pack but people are now wearing the traditional fanny pack style or similar across their chest. Very popular with young adults.
Here's a free one from Sewing Times:sewingtimes.net/diy-waist-belt-bag-for-beginner/
And here's another one from Sewing Times for $4.25:insewingtimes.com/product/everydaybeltbag-pdf-sewing-pattern-st3142/ 🙂
Thank you. I'll check them out. ❤@thesouthernseamstress
I just looked for the tote listed as #9 on your suggestions. It’s shown as sold out.

It says sold out but is 0 dollars when you put it in your cart..
Right now when I click on it, I don't get the option to "add to cart" Are you still seeing that option?
I just looked at Bagstock’s website again and now the Pelican bag is available to download. 😊
❤
Thank you! 💕 Lisa

Thank you for an intelligent and calm podcast.
Glad you enjoyed it! Happy sewing, 💕 Lisa
I was not able to locate the pattern for the long pencil pouch in the directions. Can you post it?
