@@jvorg license code probably means it wants you to buy the application possibly, I don't own a retroid pocket yet so I can't fully answer. If you search for the application name on Google it will usually give you their site, there are other unethical methods though aka piracy. Tl:Dr I can't help you out much unfortunately.

@@clonusmaximus4600 I found some settings that improve performance super much! When you’re in a game, open the pause menu in retroarch and go to options. Turn off these settings: Enable DSP and Synchronous Rendering. It helped a lot and I hope it helps you!

As far as I can tell its a functioning android device with wifi and Bluetooth. So it usually as simple as finding the app on the store or downloading the .apk (the file format for Android apps) and runing it either directly from the downloads or most file managers that can be obtained from the appstore.
@@jeremy__hopkins Flycast definitely supports Naomi and Atomiswave on my arcade pedestal, but whether this system can handle the games is probably an open question. I'd love to play some Dolphin Blue and Demolish Fist on a handheld!
it's actualy not very powerfull if you campare it to a current android phone. with that price you can get and adroid phone with much more power and just grab a clip-controller. Sure it's not as cool as an actual retro console, but it will emulate better and more games (3DS, gamecube)
So far, I was able to improve Flycast on Retroid Pocket 2 by taking the frame rate skips to 0 and max threads to like 2; 'per stip' helps sometimes but maybe its all in my head. Didnt try with many games but it really improved Sonic Adventure 1 IMO. I can play this game all the way through (minus a few really annoying audio parts) but It felt way worse before that so tinkering really helped! I guess you just have to play with settings per each game until it feels good for you. I wouldnt even 100% trust the recommended settings since slightly adjusting them really helped me out.. Id take them as suggestions and go from there!
You can't download cores from the Google Play version because of some wierd legal issues with Google. The F-Droid version can download cores perfectly fine you just have to add the RetroArch repository to F-Droid.
Been putting off snagging a device since for the last few months of watching your channel, finally bit on this on when you dropped the Dev Interview video. Keeps looking like a better purchase every day, super excited for it to arrive.
Only thing I can remember is RP1 has 512mb of ram and RP2 has 1gb of ram. In Taki's Retroid + interview video, Michael(Retroid developer) they might consider updating RP1 specs to match RP2. I didn't get RP1 because it didn't seem to run Dreamcast well. But if they update RP1, I'll definitely get it.
They are mostly the same. RP2 hast 1GB Ram instead of 500MB if I remember correctly. I also like 6 button layouts but I would get the RP2 for the extra shoulder buttons. You will miss those on the RP1.

The kids are so lucky these days you can play thoudand of retro games for free and portable, this is stuff we only dreamed of as a kids back in the 2000's.

Yes! It is an on the go retro with save states that can then be played big screen at home! This is exactly what I've been looking for! I have a pie for home and use my phone on the go but transfering save states us just no fun at all. This is the perfect solution.

How do you use "gamepad" mode with Flycast on Retroid 2? It only responds to the mouse for me. When I switch to gamepad it won't let me press start to begin a game, and this is with the DC gamepad set up in the emulator

I’m definitely going to reference your videos and need your or everyone who can lend a hand in assistance with setting stuff up. Sidenote, I ordered the yellow one because it looks so aesthetically pleasing with the black buttons popping so boldly. I would’ve gone with a retro console but the yellow called to me.
Hi TAKI, does this device also play Sega Saturn games? If it does, I would definitely get one of these since the GPD XD is a little buggy when playing Saturn, some games work, some don't :(

On Reicast you can basically turn every setting off or down, leave on FPS limit and idle skip, set scaling to 70. Basically I use that setting for every game on Reicast on RP1. Also uninstall whatever Reicast is on it and install newest from play store. Note: not all games will run well and some better on Flycast. I use Flycast for Ecco Dolphin because the graphics seem to glitch weird on reicast, for example, Jojo bizarre adventure also runs like half screen on reicast but properly in flycast.

when my handheld is discharged, is it possible to play and charge at the same time, or does the console have to be switched off during charging? is annoying to play the game and find out that I have almost run out of battery and stop playing.
What emulator do you use to getthjis performance? My dreamcast performace is still kind of choppy, only audio though. Good thing Dreamcast is not why i got the system, but id like it to work well

I asked and they said that all the good major shipping channels to India from China are closed due to the pandemic. The only service they could use is epacket and the reliability of that service is terrible.

I tried Jet Grind Radio with the standalone Flycast emulator and it's choppy AF. Nothing close to the smoothness in this test video

I've just got Reicast running well, but this is amazing - Shame you can't download any cores currently with retroarch as it's down.

Along with the RAM as others have pointed out, I believe the RP2 is overclocked from 1.3ghz to 1.5ghz where the RP1 is not

A lot of these games are barely hitting 30 fps. So if you really want to play dreamcast then no, it wont be the same experience

How the hell did you get Rayman 2 working on Retroid pocket 2??? All I find are bin files online and they don’t work with Flycast.

Taki is sideloading Redream possible? That emulator seems to run incredibly well on low powered devices. The RPi and Android versions are great
I believe it should be able to side load since it support android 5
Redream requires OpenGL ES3.x which unfortunately the GPU on this does not support.

It's different for each game depending on how they were made. Many games run at the TV Hz divided by 2 (30/25fps).
Don't worry about the numbers, you can see for yourself how smooth it's running.
