You can probably get Dreamcast running on a bloody potato if you wanted to. The average consumer buys a new handheld in order to pick up and play their old games with ease and that's the angle of this review, hence why we didn't go into CRAZY detail about what settings to use. If you want detail we suggest checking out Taki Udon, ETA Prime or Sonic Love's RUclips channels, they got into much more detail, we however look at these things from a more casual perspective. We hope this clears it up, and as usual thanks for your continued support. ❤️

Seriously these chinese companies just couldn’t make a decent handheld emulator. If a US company made one it would be great. But it looks like China finally came out with a decent device.
@@blastofo US companies don't have the manufacturing infrastructure to do it, they would end up just farming it out to China anyway and charge a premium for "Designed in Cupertino"
Paul Throgmorton Chinese manufacturers make a ton of low quality crap that belongs in swap meets and aliexpress, and there are Chinese manufacturers that can make high quality goods, like Apple products, Pinarello road bikes, DJI drones, etc. Its a question of how much a company is willing to spend, and the designs they give them to execute. If emulators were allowed to be sold in the US, a company like Razer could design and contract a Chinese manufacturer to make a device that has the same quality as a Nintendo Switch. And Apple products aren’t overpriced. If you understood stocks, and you looked at Apples financials, you’d see that their profit margins are in line with Apples competitors. Sony has a higher profit margin than Apple. Apple products cost more because they have better warranties, they have their call center in the US. They manufacture some of their products in the US. They have higher quality peripherals. They use solid aluminum unibodies for their laptops and desktops. Magic trackpads are better than any other trackpad. They have proprietary power supplies that are more quiet than any other power supply. They do not charge money to get newer versions of their OS. They do not subsidize the cost of their computers by loading 3rd party crapware. They dont subsidize cost by licensing their OS to other brands. And many other examples I could give.

@@WhySoBroke July 25th. No shipment confirmation yet. I emailed them with my order# and asked when I could expect it. This was their response. "We are shipping daily but expect late August / September."
A few points to make. No excuse for control layouts, they've seen the changes Anbernic made because nobody liked the original RG350 and the M with its recessed joysticks has been out for a while also. The right stick is a digital stick rather than analogue and an odd decision! The original Retroid Pocket I had said the same limit of 128gb on sd card. It took a 256gb without any problem and even adopted it as internal storage. Might have to format it as FAT32 potentially but you should be able to use bigger cards. Had they used OpenGL ES 3.1 then this could have used Redream and Dreamcast performance would be much better. Don't get me wrong, I like it and I like the company who make it but the flaws it does have were obvious a lot earlier in the design process and if they had paid attention to what consumers liked this would be 10/10. What we want is Anbernic RG350 format design with Android and the option of their dual boot.
My only real gripe is that the right stick is kind of sneaking by as an analog stick instead of a digital joystick. I see some gaming going on in videos here and there that are showing gameplay that REQUIRE the right analog stick to reasonably play (GTAV streaming etc). The weird thing is everyone is just sort of trying to play with the digital stick anyway and showing the footage. Don’t get me wrong, I have 2 Retroid Pocket 2s on the way am excited, but that digital joystick shouldn’t be glossed over as an analog stick for sure.
John Chi oh yes way different. An analog stick inputs different values depending on how far you move it. So if you only push the stick a little to the right you only look a little to the right or slowly to the right. If you push the stick all the way to the right you move far to the right or very quickly to the right. That’s how we are all used to analog sticks. We can control the speed of the input. The digital joystick acts only as buttons. So basically it inputs those directions the same way the D-pad does. It’s basically another D-pad that slides around. I saw some videos of people playing using it on GTAV for example, and they aren’t able to aim or look around really. The view is jumping/jerking around everywhere because it’s just like using the arrow keys on a keyboard to try to control the camera.
The right stick being a digital joystick certainly limits what this thing is capable of as a streaming device for modern games, along with the lack of L3/R3 buttons. However, I am curious about how well the right stick performs in shmups and other arcade games in tate mode.

I bet they are getting thousands thanks to just you (and a couple other youtubers). This will be my first Retro device so I hope it's not too hard to use and setup.
Great review. Definitely appreciate the perspective on Dreamcast as that's the main thing I'm looking for in a new handheld. I enjoy messing with settings, but not when I just want to play something.
That's what I'd also be interested in. Also: Is it possible to save the settings for each game individually, so that once you've figured it out you can at least keep that?
I’ve wanted a handheld emulator for awhile now but I’ve kind of been waiting for the perfect system in terms of build quality, layout, ease of use, power, and price. This one is about as close as I’ve seen so I finally pulled the trigger on one, pretty excited
Can someone please just tell me how many built in games this has? No info on it and I've looked everywhere! I'm trying to decide between the rg350m and the retroid pocket 2.
I’d love to see an upgrade to this next year, that allowed for PS2 emulation. Also, I got it for the N64 emulation, and some of the other features that beats out some over-$100 products. I just picked this up in the SNES color scheme, too. Can’t wait to get it.
I have a switch, so at this point im used to the dpad/Analogue stick placement. And for N64 games its preffered in my opinion. Regardless, I ordered the “Retro” colour of this handheld and im super excited for it to come. Amazing review and keep up the good work!
Do you know if this or any of the other handhelds you've reviewed have parental controls? I'm looking to pick these up for my kids but I'd like to have some sort of automatic limit to their play time. Thanks for the great video.
Maaaate, thank funk you put this out. Top bombin'. Missus is already deep in the Ntndo Switch, I needed my retro fix while she is hoggin the living room TV. Phwwoooooar x
This vid was the decider on if I got one and it made it clear for me. Ordered mine in the RS2 colour on the 02/10/20. Only problem now is waiting for it!! How long did you wait for yours to arrive?
I understand the Dreamcast complaints, but if the community builds a guide for each game it shouldn’t take more than five minutes. Same time you need to stand up, get your GDI, put it in your Dreamcast and boot it am I right?
Naaaaar that truntable is 🔥🔥need. I fully agree that this is so far the best handheld out there at the moment. I love the screen is so clean. The triggers are pretty comfortable, and leaves a satisfying sound when they click. I hope they make an update for Android 8. Thanks for a great upload👍🏾
I actually like having a bezel. I think without it the bright color of the console would be distracting to the eye. The bit of bezel helps your eyes focus imo.
Hey jonah, i owned rg350. Is it worth it to buy this for the slight upgrade? Also i saw same figurines in your background. Do you build gunpla/gundam? If you haven't do so, you should!
The One thing that no one ever mentions, is the MAME emulation. A huge reason I love my Retroid Pocket 2+ is how well it runs Arcade games. I have 400 or so Arcade games on it, running through the FBNeo core on Retroarch, and so far, every one I've tried has run great. You won't really be getting the 3D Arcade games working well, like Tekken 3 or Daytona USA, but there's other consoles it CAN emulate that can run games like that. Add in Retro Achievements and high score saving, and it's great.
I just got my rg350m, i wish I had the option to choose between the retroidpocket, piboy DMG., and the rg350m. I guess next year better ones will become available.
I can't wait for you to review the RP2+, you're definitely going to enjoy it a lot more since it can play GameCube games. The screen being smudged kind of bothered me but it didn't take away from the review. Great showcase!
A heads up... So I noticed that on the retroid website there is nothing there anymore about the android 8 upgrade that is supposedly coming around this month. I wonder if they dropped the idea?
Hello. I am new to the portable emulator scene and I was hoping to get some help! What would you say is the best portable emulator available? Im looking for one that has the Play Store on the device so that I may run any emulator I want -- especially since Citra released the app recently! Thank you in advance for any help or advice!
Is it comes with games installed in it ?! , p.s " i'm at Egypt" and its for a kid , so he want a game that get and play directly , and have a console that have games already . So is that any suggestions? plz ,,, thanks 🤚🙂
Im,debating on if I want to buy cz of 32gb may let you download hundreds of n64, ps1, nes, Sega, snes, and so on forth but the era of Xbox, gamecube, and ps2 going onward emulator codes can run between 500mb to a few GBs. Has there been problems with filling up the space quick from ps2, gamecube, and xbox era games
I’ve been wanting one of these retro console. Do they come preloaded with games. I know the RG 350 does? Just curious. Cause that’s my main concern about buying one of these.
It’s easy to download them. I managed to find every game I ever wanted. I’ve been hoarding my 16bit collection of roms since the early 2000s.... that’s kinda sad now that I read it :D, but iv been finding NDS and PS1 games easy
For me this is worth buying. SNES and ps1 alone have some od the best games of all time. Chrono trigger, tekken 3, Super metroid, F Zero, Gran Turismo, Xenogears, Ninja turtles, street fighter...and if it can handle the N64 smoothly then these guys really went above and beyond in my opinion.
Is there anything on the included 32GB card? I'd like to swap it out for a 128GB and wondering if I'll need to move anything from the 32GB card? If so, is a special utility required for Mac or PC or is it just drag and drop?

Oh well, mine should arrive tomorrow.
You’ll love it mate!
So what's the period of time betwen order conformation and shipping notification?!
@@samygold100 mine took about 2 weeks or so to arrive.
@@keyblade450 did you use the 4PX shipping provider or DHL? People say 4px is kinda poo
Pre-ordered the indigo version! Now just need to wait for it to get here.
that is the one i am getting too
Great choice!
I ordered the sky blue one, but I have to admit that Indigo color scheme looks rather nice!
@@jonathonearl482 the sky blue looks nice too, but my heart was drawn to indigo
Has it shipped yet?
Can it run goldeneye 64 at a decent framerate? Tekken 3?
I just want it for Pokemon stadium and pokemon snap
Does this run Bomberman64 really well? I miss that game so much
Since I tried the RG350M I am in love with the metal versions, I hope that they release a version of the retroid in metal...
Indeed. Once you buy a metal one, it's hard to get excited about plastic toys.
Yay sonic love with the shout out!
Does it come with the games installed or do you have to download them.
You have to download the ROMs, I recommend vimm.net/?p=vault for getting ROMs
Bought one, can't wait for it to arrive...
Between the Retroid Pocket 2 or the RG350M/P, which one do you recommend?
F
I recommend the Switch.
Steam deck
How is this compared to RG350M? Which can emulate higher?
00:29 HANDS DOWN!!!......probably
Thanks, ordered one after you compared it to the RGB350p/m .... I was about to buy that one, but your vid sold me on the RP2. They should pay you ....
This might not be for you then, unless they come out with a huge firmware update.
Would the Pi 4 Boy be the way to go for Dreamcast?
Awesome review👌
Cant wait to get mine via mail soon!
Would it be possible for you to share what settings you did tweak to get the Dreamcast emulator running the way you did?
That's what I'd also be interested in. Also: Is it possible to save the settings for each game individually, so that once you've figured it out you can at least keep that?
I’ve wanted a handheld emulator for awhile now but I’ve kind of been waiting for the perfect system in terms of build quality, layout, ease of use, power, and price. This one is about as close as I’ve seen so I finally pulled the trigger on one, pretty excited
Do these come with the games already on them?
I was wondering the same thing ?
@Retro Dodo Hi. How would You compare it to Rk2020? Is it better?
Yes, it's better than the RK2020.
Can someone please just tell me how many built in games this has? No info on it and I've looked everywhere! I'm trying to decide between the rg350m and the retroid pocket 2.
none it would be very illegal to sell something with roms preloaded
I’d love to see an upgrade to this next year, that allowed for PS2 emulation. Also, I got it for the N64 emulation, and some of the other features that beats out some over-$100 products. I just picked this up in the SNES color scheme, too. Can’t wait to get it.
Omg imagine simpsons hit and run on a handheld
@@tomgorey9294 I would kill for that
I have a switch, so at this point im used to the dpad/Analogue stick placement. And for N64 games its preffered in my opinion. Regardless, I ordered the “Retro” colour of this handheld and im super excited for it to come. Amazing review and keep up the good work!
Would u recommend this or the rg350p???
Do you know if this or any of the other handhelds you've reviewed have parental controls? I'm looking to pick these up for my kids but I'd like to have some sort of automatic limit to their play time.
Thanks for the great video.
That may be doable as a part of android itself
Maaaate, thank funk you put this out. Top bombin'.
Missus is already deep in the Ntndo Switch, I needed my retro fix while she is hoggin the living room TV.
Phwwoooooar x
This vid was the decider on if I got one and it made it clear for me. Ordered mine in the RS2 colour on the 02/10/20. Only problem now is waiting for it!! How long did you wait for yours to arrive?
You’ll probably receive yours mid-end Nov, ours took a long while
I ordered mine 6 days ago and am already getting anxious lol
I understand the Dreamcast complaints, but if the community builds a guide for each game it shouldn’t take more than five minutes. Same time you need to stand up, get your GDI, put it in your Dreamcast and boot it am I right?
5 minutes to long. These things need to be pick up and play to get our “green tick”. 😩
SW PL GAMING yes I agree Android 8 should be the minimum acceptable for a device in 2020
Any tearing like on Powkiddy A19 ?
Nope!
I ordered one. The steam function got me.
Has it shipped yet?
If yes; What's the period of time betwen order conformation and shipping notification?!
@@samygold100 not yet I do believe they are back logged.
just a heads up... it features 2.4ghz wifi, not 5.0. playing on steam link will probably suck ass
@@PedroHenrique-ih1fl ugh!
I will say I haven’t had any trouble using redream for Dreamcast emulation, never had to mess with settings or controls.
Awesome video! God bless you and yours
What controllers would you buy for this if you hook it up to the tv?
8BitDo
I have a lamp like the lightning bolt but it’s fire instead. Love the videos and retro handhelds. Keep up the good stuff 😁
You are really good, no bullshit honest review.
We appreciate it. 😊
Stupid question, maybe?
Is there like a ROM store on the handheld or do you need to install via a laptop?
Damn, I'm already having a blast with my RG350M, now I have to get this one too.
Can anyone tell me which dreamcast game is being played at 9:44?
Same here, I just ordered it. *cry* - that game is Marvel VS Capcom 2 bro
Do you like the RG350 better
Great review. 👍
would you say that this one is better than the PiBoy DMG?
I just got my rg350m, i wish I had the option to choose between the retroidpocket, piboy DMG., and the rg350m. I guess next year better ones will become available.
Awesome review bro 👍 I'm looking forward to picking one of these up as it will be my first Chinese retro handheld.
Aaand subscribed and clicked the notification bell
I can't wait for you to review the RP2+, you're definitely going to enjoy it a lot more since it can play GameCube games.
The screen being smudged kind of bothered me but it didn't take away from the review. Great showcase!
Thanks
Hi I’m looking for a Dreamcast retro console what are you recommended ? I was thinking this retroid but now I’m uncertain
What is the framerate gamecube runs at? I am hoping to get one for N64 and NDS games but I know it won't play gamecube well.
it wont run gamecube at all
Where do you download your ROMs? I cant find any good website especially for PS1 or Dreamcast, and N64
A heads up... So I noticed that on the retroid website there is nothing there anymore about the android 8 upgrade that is supposedly coming around this month. I wonder if they dropped the idea?
I pre-ordered the 16-bit version about a month ago, can't wait anymore!!!!!!!
You'll love it mate!
@@RetroDodo I'm sure! Also they're an exciting team
Awesome channel and videos.... is it possible to multiplayer with additional controller? And comparing with powkiddy x15, wich one is the best?
Is it worth buying plus does it come with an SD card with games already preloaded????
Hello. I am new to the portable emulator scene and I was hoping to get some help! What would you say is the best portable emulator available? Im looking for one that has the Play Store on the device so that I may run any emulator I want -- especially since Citra released the app recently! Thank you in advance for any help or advice!
Does it play n64 games well? Another reviewer said the right stick didnt work at all for n64 and im a bit worried about that before i buy
are there any games that come pre-installed?
Yes it comes with Red Dead Redemption 2.
Chris Stephenson wtf lmao
how well it run snes and gba? all i need
I would think near flawlessly. Those systems are very easy to emulate
I live in California, how many days does DHL shipping take?
I’ve been wanting one of these retro console. Do they come preloaded with games. I know the RG 350 does? Just curious. Cause that’s my main concern about buying one of these.
It’s easy to download them. I managed to find every game I ever wanted. I’ve been hoarding my 16bit collection of roms since the early 2000s.... that’s kinda sad now that I read it :D, but iv been finding NDS and PS1 games easy
One doubt about the console...
Can you connect two BT Controllers for playing 2 players meanwhile the console is connected to the TV?!
Thank you!
hai RETRO DODO, is this device able to connect with bluetooth gamepad like 8bitdo for 2 player experience? thank you
Thanks a lot for the review! One question - would you prefer this one over rg350p? Thanks in advance
So forgetting about stick placement, is it better then the RG350P?
Is this worth the upgrade from an LDK landscape? Like how much better is the screen on the retroid?
Does this come with the games already installed or do you got to download them on to the device
For me this is worth buying. SNES and ps1 alone have some od the best games of all time. Chrono trigger, tekken 3, Super metroid, F Zero, Gran Turismo, Xenogears, Ninja turtles, street fighter...and if it can handle the N64 smoothly then these guys really went above and beyond in my opinion.
does Tekken 3 run smoothly? I'm worried about the 3d games running slow
Still loving the beat from the intro! A link would be much appreciated!
Keep up the great work!
It's called Live love life by fassounds.
Retro Dodo Thank you very much my good sir! Loving the hand held btw! Would love to get one on my hands!
i'm waiting for a larger screen and a matte black version. retro gamers are getting older and 3.5" isn't cutting it too well for these old eyes
Understandable. 😊
Agree 👍
Does anyone know how to get star wars trilogy arcade (1998) to work on RP2?
Do the games come already on the system or do you have to add two games yourself
Hello, I know the right stick working fine in fpse, but do u know how to set it working properly in retro arch?
Also I have a community post of a lovely fellow that give a link to every core for windows and android...and I mean very core to side load
Hey didn’t you use a 256gb SD card on your Retroid pocket??
Is there anything on the included 32GB card? I'd like to swap it out for a 128GB and wondering if I'll need to move anything from the 32GB card? If so, is a special utility required for Mac or PC or is it just drag and drop?
