I have a stupid idea for a run. Emotional Damage Only. Defeat Messmer with Marika's Hammer, Romina with Messmer's Fire incantations, Radahn with Scarlet Aeonia/Hand of Malenia. Optionally: Rellana with Messmer's spear, Bayle with Placidusax's incantations (and Igon). Explanation: Messmer has mommy issues, so beating him with his mother's hammer will certainly be traumatic for him. Romina's church was burned by Messmer, and after that she took in the scarlet rot and turned into the scorpiopede-thingy, so bringing Messmer's flame back to her will surely trigger her PTSD. Same with Radahn, he was rotted and maddened by scarlet rot inflicted by Malenia with her Scarlet Aeonia, so he will have PTSD flashbacks as well. Rellana is in love with Messmer, so much that she left to Shadow Realm to be with him. Bayle fought with Placidusax and bit a couple of heads off of him, so again, targeting his traumatic past, plus Igon is just more salt on his wound

I hope people start to talk more about the issue in 10:15. The first time playing the DLC was always cool to see new places and how big they were, just to explore and find nothing, Abyssal Woods, the Fingers Area, the forests you find the rune bears boss, and the fact that Jagged Peak is just a big corridor was a let down. This DLC just feels incomplete. And the Scadutree Fragment mechanic for a second Playthrough was very annoying, even with a map I got to Radahn missing 1 level, because how hard is to keep track of every fragment.
I think the best way to have implemented the upgrade system was to have it be similar to Sekiro. Defeating a boss makes your stronger. If you have trouble with a boss, defeat some of the other ones first and come back more powerful. I think the reason they didnt want to do that is in order to have rewards for exploration. Unfortunately, just like in the main game... as magical as the open world seems to be at first.. in the end it kinda hurts the overall experience of the game. I personally think Fromsoft shines in non-linearity but not in true open world design. It looks gorgeous though. I will give them that.

32:14 Yeah this DLC really gave me a whole new appreciation for Endure. I used it in two fights, Messmer and Radahn. For Messmer I was handling the first phase just fine but I couldn't really understand how to punish him in the second phase cause of how much he moves, so I put on Endure on a weapon to help me survive and learn the fight. What I actually learned was it allowed me to just bulldoze Messmer in the second phase cause I could just tank through his attacks while doing charged attacks to stagger him. I did a similar thing with Radahn's second phase, I could handle the first phase well but the second phase I couldn't even understand cause of all the lights and explosions, so I used Endure to just try and see how I would avoid some attacks. What actually ended up happening was that I used Endure to survive his t-pose orbital cannon (I had difficulty outrunning it on previous attempts cause I tended to be in the middle of a punish attempt whenever he did it), and apart from that one attack I could manage the others well enough so I could just do the rest of the fight normally, only using Endure one other time because I knew I was bound for a stagger and I wanted to survive the trade. It felt a bit cheesy to use it this way, but also really satisfying cause I otherwise just fought normally with my trusty rusted anchor.

I'm realizing that I did the bosses way out of order. I never encountered Metyr, Bayle, Dancing Lion, Sunflower, Putrescent Knight, or Midra until after Radahn. My first play through went Rellana, Gaius, Messmer, Romina, Leda gank, and Radahn. The map was so confusing to traverse that I just kept going in the most obvious direction and that took me straight to the end.

Try always moving to the left during the final boss. Dodging and strafing, always to the forward-left. Helps a lot with avoiding the 2nd phase roll-catches. I love the fight cause it forces you to always be aware of your position
Allow me to educate you there PressContinue. As you was question whether or not it was 69 perfume or 69 on its own. The perfume bottles only do a singular instance of attacks unless 2 handed which do 2. 69 one handed and due to how two-handing works you may only get an additional 35 poision buildup on two-handed attacks making your overall poison buildup 104 per-fume on a twohanded attack. Guess you should've smelt that coming ;)
Ancient Dragon Man and Golden Hippopotamus both got me laughing out loud just for reading their names, and I love them for it. Only base game boss who can claim to have done the same was Godefroy, who I believe to be severely overhated.
27:50 Godwyn's soul was destroyed, but his flesh still lives on. What if there were people who were trying to resurrect Godwyn, only to find out at the last second that the ritual they were performing instead allowed an Outer God to possess his body instead? That could lead to real body horror moment as his bones creak and moan, and his flesh stretches out to become the desired shape of whatever is possessing his flesh.
I wonder how many people got that DT Train of Thought joke without having to pause to read the title? Or that quick REM one about corners being where most people lose their religion. I love when you make music reference jokes! 😂
Melina is Mesmer’s sister and another child of Marika. Like you said, Godwin is dead dead so there’s no way of him coming back. The Gloam eyed queen seems more like a throwaway/mythical entity in the game. The choices of bosses makes perfect sense when you read all the item descriptions and have a good sense of the lore.
31:14 I love how i lerning boss moveset from this video. Like I know maybe 4 bosses movesets fully with are: Rellana, Messmer, Radahan and maybe Bayle (im not sure fully) But it's most likely even them i don't know them fully (after all Messmer Byle and Radahan weren't in viedo yet and I probably missed some movie in your Rellana fight or you dint get any "new" for me). But it was highly expected because I started DLC with pizza cuter then quiet quickly I changed to grate katanas and Realana swords (I starfed as astrologer played to half of base game as mage on that character and then changed to pizza cuter because I don't want to farm runes but hit a DPS (both ways) wall....so it was easier to change to something that at least jave high DPS) i also ussed a few other wepons foe a while but probably only milady was used on boss. But I ended run with my beloved ant rapier (used it on few characters) and black steel grateshield with holly affinity because I culdnt bare second spam...i mean fase of Radahan. And for real i think it took back most of my enjoyment of the DLC.
lightening perfume bottle along with rolling spark ash of war is insanely powerful. if you connect it perfectly, it can do more than 23k damage at once. I cheesed all the bosses of main game and dlc (except radhan, he is too fast and does zig zag attacks) just by using it.
I was going to do this same thing for my ng+4 build. Also useing rolling sparks on maybe just the madness one for pvp only. Useing all perfumer tools, i just managed to get the perfumer shield to drop. I also wanna pair it with the iron aromatic to make you a tank.
24:29 would you have allowed yourself to riposte with your fist? because that also works for the furnace golems as well since the riposte on them does percent damage rather than scaling off your own damage.
Soooooo knowing the caliber of you challange runner muscles....would you like to hear out an fun challange run idea? the unBEARable run you can only deal damage with the bear roar incantation, everything else is allowed as long as you deal damage with the roar of rugalea BTW amazing 10/10 run would like again

@@PressContinue Yeah..., sad, really, wish we had seen a Marika fight (as in, in her Marika form), and knowing more about that Abyssal Serpent would have been neat too. Ah well, maybe a mod will one day use that vessel as a launching off point.
25:56 me and my buddys name is Abortion of Kos for putrescent knight
All the names were great, but "Gyou-Boar Oniwa" got me real good lmao
The dancer set is sooo nice looking, I wanted my girl to wear it but I'm baby and settled for Rellana's still very nice armor
I missed the fun piece of trivia at first so I rewinded it only to be hot with something so dumb I couldn't help bout laugh out loud. Love the content
Technically the hippo 🦛 is more porcupine like than hedgehog
I always forget which is which. Not the first time I have that problem
He's quite literally jumping right into the action...
It’s about time I listened to the Hybrid Theory album again.
I agree about Gaius' charging attack, I just CAN NOT get the timing down on it.
The hardest part about Radahn is the no fps debuff on the second phase
Bro, you are literally the only content creator that did this run the way i was hoping, thank you 😭
A fantastic clip Press! Amazing run, was a lot of fun to watch! Can't wait to see all the new run ideas; I'm simply fuming with excitement 🤣 🤣
I physically felt my lifespan decrease every time you said a pun, and I loved every second of it lmao. Came for the crazy whacky run and was sorely not disappointed, but I stayed for your wonderful personality. Fort Night
The map was so confusing to traverse that I just kept going in the most obvious direction and that took me straight to the end.
jesus mate, how on earth did you mange to miss the dancing lion? lol, Belurat is so closed to where you start and where you meet pretty much all the npcs, in fact it is closer to where you start than where Rellana is.
@@Invader_Hex well, it's not a required area, and if you don't think to go there before the game pulls you in a different direction you could totally miss it if you don't go exploring off the beaten path
Final boss was afraid if you, because he had to go through the..perfume department!
9:45
I can't believe you fought the Ancient Dragon-Man, the first superhero of Elden Ring
I know rolling sparks carried these pre fix but the bottles are still my favorite weapon in the game, I love how unique they are in concept and can still be fun to use
What its already time for a shower again. Man i always forget to write that im my calender for the next year. be back in 5, cant get to clean^^
that Gaius fight was clean 😅
Try always moving to the left during the final boss. Dodging and strafing, always to the forward-left. Helps a lot with avoiding the 2nd phase roll-catches. I love the fight cause it forces you to always be aware of your position
Dude turns into Let Me Tank Him for the final boss
How does he think of this shit so quick bro
“You shouldn’t be crawling, because then your wounds won’t heal”
Allow me to educate you there PressContinue. As you was question whether or not it was 69 perfume or 69 on its own. The perfume bottles only do a singular instance of attacks unless 2 handed which do 2.
69 one handed and due to how two-handing works you may only get an additional 35 poision buildup on two-handed attacks making your overall poison buildup 104 per-fume on a twohanded attack. Guess you should've smelt that coming ;)
I knew the puns for Metyr were coming. I was not disappointed, it was glorious
Eh im going to call those Autumn lanterns.
didn't get this in my sub box. been wanting to watch someone use these without cheese. little did i know this video existed. thanks g
Worrisome, that it didnt appear in your sub box, but not surprising actually...
Pontiffa sulyvahna had me in stitches
Ancient Dragon Man and Golden Hippopotamus both got me laughing out loud just for reading their names, and I love them for it.
Only base game boss who can claim to have done the same was Godefroy, who I believe to be severely overhated.
That "giggity" got me, ngl
"Pontiffa Sullyvahna" broke me
oh fuck, 5:10 "or is it 69 ... per fume" literally made me laugh out loud! (and scare my cat in the process)
appropriate when it whiffs haha you really got me with that one
this run sure smells great at least.
And may this victorious aroma bring forth many more glorious challenges.
Gauis also looks like he could have been made by one of my favorite mtg artists nihls haam
Messmer is basically a shadow of yharnam on steroids
Yeah there are is definitely a similarly with that chaotic serpent move he gets in his 2nd phase and the SoY snake summon
I loved the Linkin Park reference when you were fighting Rellana
27:50
Godwyn's soul was destroyed, but his flesh still lives on.
Heck, they could have placed Radahn's soul into the restored body of Godwyn
I wonder how many people got that DT Train of Thought joke without having to pause to read the title? Or that quick REM one about corners being where most people lose their religion. I love when you make music reference jokes! 😂
22:40 I have never anyone panic so much after winning a fight.
The scadutree chalice is like the starlight collectors around the lands between I just find it weird that the fragments aren't in the chalice itself
"Per fume"... I knew there was a reason I'm subscribed to this channel!
TBH most every boss is the dancing camera boss.
The camera and excessively flashy effects are the real DLC antagonist.
No argument there.
@@PressContinue I guess Miyazaki give us some welder experience. But without a mask
I called it orphan of kos at home
ELDEN RING SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE LETS F***ING GO!!!
lady pontiff was a fun fight
Remember Perfume Knight in the Dark Souls 2 DLC? Toughest boss in the game imo.
Change commander Gaius for something better and exchange the putrescent knight for St Trina herself and that would pretty much have been sufficient
@@PressContinuecompletely agree with you on that. Love the videos and I’m currently falling asleep to the DS2 -44 level run
For the fire baskets you can switch to your bare hand and reposte. You will still deal about a third of the health bar.
Yeah, I guess. But I was supposed to only do damage with my perfumes. But hey it still worked out in the end
@@PressContinue oh yeah duh. My bad.
52:30 Well consider my mind blown. You can poise through his grab slash with endure?!
Metyr reminds me of the daughter of the cosmos boss from bloodborne
I didn't interpret that thumbnail as perfume bottle I though you finally did and balls only run
lightening perfume bottle along with rolling spark ash of war is insanely powerful. if you connect it perfectly, it can do more than 23k damage at once. I cheesed all the bosses of main game and dlc (except radhan, he is too fast and does zig zag attacks) just by using it.
They fixed it
@@BdrRm i know. So I didn't update the game. 😂
22:30. The boar won’t heel no matter how many times you tell it to.
‘Per fume” SUBBED
For the record you can throw furnace pots into the staggered furnace golems to deal allot of damage
I'm aware
I was going to do this same thing for my ng+4 build. Also useing rolling sparks on maybe just the madness one for pvp only.
Useing all perfumer tools, i just managed to get the perfumer shield to drop.
I also wanna pair it with the iron aromatic to make you a tank.
34:45
You can parry these guys
The timing is strict (unless you use Golden Parry), but you can parry and crit them. You can kill them this way.
You should have been able to use the depraved perfumer summon. For double perfume shenanigans
Would have been appropriate for the gank squad fight near the end I suppose
After watching a lot of challenge runners I realise that I am lot more aggressive than like half of them, which I thought was weird.
Mr Press showing he's a legend by not using the cheese. Assume this was filmed pre patch?
Yes, the run took place the last days of June and the patch came out halfway through editing
24:29 would you have allowed yourself to riposte with your fist? because that also works for the furnace golems as well since the riposte on them does percent damage rather than scaling off your own damage.
Nah, doesn't matter anyway. It still worked out in the end
Your intros are masterpiece
I've heard it called "Orphan of Hoss"
When they showed early dlc footage I was hooked for these bottles! Does ng+ let's you keep the weapons? If so I will use these bad boios
Of course. Anything other than key items, you'll get to keep on the next game cycles
34:16 “Smell my finger!”
Soooooo knowing the caliber of you challange runner muscles....would you like to hear out an fun challange run idea?
the unBEARable run
you can only deal damage with the bear roar incantation, everything else is allowed as long as you deal damage with the roar of rugalea
BTW amazing 10/10 run would like again
That was already on my list actually. Well with the bear claws and bear outfit etc, but yeah a bear themed run is on my list
@@PressContinue yaaaaqaay
I need to know the average PPM (Puns Per Minute) that goes on in a Press Continue video
Just use Torrent mount/dismount on the boar dude. Makes the fight so much more tolerable lol
Kinda cheap though... then again... cheap moves, cheap solutions
