The armor thing makes sense to me. If you unequip your armor and die you respawn with all your armor off. If Seigward dies down that well he respawns without it in the same way
Yeah, Gravetender swaps to sorceries once the big wolf shows up, taking on a more passive role in the fight like how the gargoyles start breathing fire at low health. Another little-known fact about the big wolf: if you fight it on its own outside the fog, on the path to the Millwood Knights’ tower, depleting its health in those two encounters will lower its health in the boss fight proper, around 15%.
While sometimes helpful, I find it’s usually a pain to fight the wolf outside the boss encounter because of all the other wolves. It does drop a few large titanite shards though, plus the damage you mentioned.
@@somedude4832If you sprint till you hear the big one howl and save and quit the other smaller ones will have reset position and aggro so you can fight it 1 on 1 and not have to clear them out each time you want to attempt it (idk why but I die to him there occasionally but never have any issue with him in the actual fight)
@@BirnieMac1 That does happen for the first fight, but some of the wolves can start attacking you again and the terrain is generally awkward and uneven. I dont think it's possible to avoid the wolves in the second fight, but you can go inside the tower (assuming it's cleared) and fight the dogs separate from the big one
Elfriede was Friede’s name before she put Londor behind her - she’s actually Yuria’s sister, and she was working with her on the whole ‘make Londor great again’ thing before she found the painting and adopted it as a protector. There’s some language trickery about how Friede means peaceful in Celtic and Elfriede means something else - it’s been like five years since I watched Vaati’s vidya on it.
I'm looking up the names and while it is the case that Friede means peace in german, Friede as a name is really Frieda and comes from Elfrieda which means Elf + power or nature spirit. I guess that the makers of the game used the double meanings the name could have, but technically Vaati would be wrong, emotologically speaking.
Friede was actually the first candidate for the Lord of Hollows, that's why she has black flame on phase 3 (they probably gave her some darkness so she'd be able to take the flames), but only the Ashen can do that, so she just ended up burning. After the second bell, she rose, but decided to go to the painting instead, back to her old home (Yuria says they were from the painting).
The fact that the Saint-tree Bellvine gives max casting speed when held is invaluable for runs/characters like this. Of course the game does actively nothing to let the player know it exists but it is an effective 99 dex worth of casting speed. Good for weapon/spell combos like with Heysel Pick or Demon's Scar.
@@DoomWolfOfficial Too long did I give it to Pickle Pee and Pumparum for like a wood carving or whatever it is. Totally better than waiting for ng+2 for Sage's Ring +2 but it does hinder parrying a bit.. oh well
As a tip to anyone who wants to do a sorcery/miracle/pyro only run, get the Saint Tree Belvine in Cathedral of the Deep, as it provides the maximum amount of virtual dexterity when held in either hand.
Fun fact: The Witchtree Branch is a staff that has the exact same effect (even down to it being one of the worst scaling catalysts of its kind). However, it is heavier and found in Irythyll, making the Saint-Tree Bellvine the earlier and better option.
8:52 so the unkindled undead as well as the cursed undead from the previous games all respawn at the bonfire when they die because they are time locked. Have you noticed how all broken furniture goes back to normal after a respawn as well as the bosses? They act like its the first time you've entered their fog wall. The reason is because it is the first time as far as they know. The only thing that does not reset upon your death is your humanity/ember/curse/level and NPC aggro. This is because other unkindled are traveling through the world at the same pace as you and can interact with you. You respawn with your armor because no NPC came and stole it while you were dead like what happened to siegward. Patches claims he will strip your corpse after you die but he either forgets to, or knows better than to actually do it. The fact that the world is locked in time is further shown when you reach Alderich's boss fight and can help Henry defeat him only for him to still be there when you arrive. Only things that happen in your timeline actually happen (for you) other NPC's have their own timelines but can visit yours. But once you go hollow you can get stuck out of your timeline and in someone else's.
Neat, this is actually how I used to think of Sekiro, like you can get up once but if you die again then it's just..over, and the whole world resets to before that death happened, and no one but the player knows it haha
12:14 when I played DS3 for the first time it was my first soulsborne game and I already heard that "yOu hAvE tO bEaT BoSses sOlo" so I beat the entire game without summons EXCEPT pontiff. For him I needed Anri and another white phantom. This stuck with me so much that I needed to start a second run right after beating the game, just so I could solo him.
when i first started playing souls games I also heard the "gotta play without summons" talk. I do it now because of the challenge runs, but honestly, as long as you're having fun ya know?
@lvonhentacles9621 you should've seen how I gave up on Consort Radahn, called in players, then replayed the game in NG+ to give it another go. Granted, I completely abandoned my sorc build and came back with str/fth and the blasphemous blade.
This no summon thing is so stupid... Also I beat every dark souls game first with playing coop with a friend. After I had beat each individual one I played them alone again and have since did many runs in each of them. It helps to get to know how the game works if you're someone like me, I'm easily frustrated and so having someone help me along the way made me appreciate the games so much more. also, as long as you having fun (and don't disturb others), who cares how you play
no but i genuinely had to laugh out loud multiple times and we all know, we normally don’t do that often while consuming content, and i’m not even half through the video, you are so goddamn funny or stresst hitting my humor, so kudos to you and keep this shit up
Something you could try for the demon princes is to have a simple infused shield or something in your off-hand for *very* slow, but infinite fp regeneration, and potentially another one you can switch the pyro flame to for double regen speed while you're waiting for the demons to seperate. You could also add a chime to cast Gentle Prayer for very cheep (and painfully slow) healing to offset any chip-damage you take. Regardless, this strategy sounds like it would be absolutely horrible, so give it a try if you're feeling masochistic.
It really hurt to see all that effort put into showing how it's mathematically impossible to do it, when it's dark souls 3 and you have infinite mana from simple weapons. Waiting for simple weapons to regenerate is miserable and I don't think anyone needs to justify why they don't want to do an hour long boss fight for a challenge run. But man, it hurt to realize he had no idea simple weapons exist.
haha like dotgone said, i kinda forgot simple infusions exist, I don't think i've _ever_ used one, but you're both right, technically if I wanted to that would negate the mana problem, if i ever do that mini challenge, i'll keep it in mind!
@@DoomWolfOfficial it's 40 mana per minute for two +10 simples, if fextralife's math was ever correct. Which.... Yeah, dodging phase 2 for that long makes me think of when Skum did bare fists in ER. Every ashen estus charge saves several minutes, but dying from running out of regular estus would be soul crushing too. I'd say if you decide to do it, give yourself all the hidden blessings/siegbrau/divine blessings available in a perfect quest completion playthrough and save state them for each attempt. Would massively decrease the barrier to entry. Thanks for all the videos
Another run idea for you Doom, to match your Whip run: Elden Ring with a Boner, you can only use Bone items. You can use Bone Arrows from the Horn bow too, because that is kind of bone too. Bone darts, Poisonbone darts, Bone Arrows... If you can think of a reasonable Crossbow, Bone Bolts.... If it says BONE in the name (Or you could argue that it IS bone), it's fair game. And I've no doubt you have plenty of terrible bone jokes to make, especially since it's Spooky Month.

Disappointed though that you didn't play through the whole game on SL1 and did the run on ng+... tssk tssk tssk Also I dunno what CE tables you were using, but if one crashes the game and the other requires item swapping like with DS1 and DS2 then they're either really old or something... or more likely specially made to troll you specifically 🤔
15:40 Fun Fact: All Bosses as far as i know in Darksouls 3 Attack in four-quarter-time in Rhythm with their music... Except the Dancer of the Boreal Valley. She attacks in three-quarter-time. Since she is a Boss you fight rather late in the game most players grew accustomed to the Pattern of all the other Bosses. Thats why her Pattern throws you off just a bit and she seems more aggressive. I dont know if this holds true for the DLC Bosses but it should hold true for the main game ^^.
@@DoomWolfOfficial No you are not misremembering actually :) I just did a quick search for the video and you are right ^^ I think it was a collab with Game Theory if i remember correctly and its totally possible that i misremembered some points of the video since its ages ago when i last saw it 😅
@@DoomWolfOfficial Well you've certainly have. Your content is always top tier, I usually put it on while eating dinner after work. But with work scheduling becoming less predictable and other life stuff it's sometimes hard to find the time to just unwind and watch some RUclips.
haha I loved the way it looked and at a few points it was actually pretty decent, like the swing speed and okay damage, but for a whole run..not so much :P
To spawn patches in siegwards armor, you to open all 3 giant bronze doors. So the entrance, the shortcut, and the one past the poo pond that first giant is standing in.
You could hold any weapon or shield infused with "Simple" in your offhand which would give you a very small but constant stream of FP regeneration, the same way "Blessed" gives HP regeneration. I get that it wouldn't be in the spirit of Desert Pyromancer cosplay, but it's something you do like the Rings.
This is true! I just forgot simple infusions exist lmao also, is your name a shortening of mon(ster) musu(me) master? because if so, hello fellow cultured individual :)
Well, that was quite a run. You certainly have more patience than I do, since I would not have wanted to continue that Old Demon King fight with that damage. And don’t worry, you aren’t the only one who couldn’t roll and got stuck in Gundyr’s next attacks. It happened to me as well.
Seeing the situation with the demon prince and such, yeah. My immediate thought was "There are two of them, and a third phase, very resistant to fire...this is no good." Thanks for doing the math on that, though nonetheless I'm happy you skipped em, no fun in that kinda fight.
Yeah, I'm not much for the low damage style runs, especially with a limited resource so I wanted to see if it was doable technically, and I completely forgot this existed lol, but simple infusions would give infinite FP, but that wouldn't solve the almost no damage issue haha
You can still spawn patches by getting the fire link tower key and he’ll still sell the armor to save the onion knight. Also hilarious you uploaded in the middle of my all night doom wolf binge 😂
Just as a thought experiment, since you're already in faith as a build, I wonder if you could have set up for a support healer role and let a summon (Gael, I think?) deal with the Demon Princes while you support them and throw out Flame Fans when practical. I'm not very knowledgeable about DS3 so I'm not sure if that's a possible thing you can do in the game but it might be an interesting way to at least see the bosses behind them and see what those fights are like?
You can heal NPCs yeah (assuming that wasn't changed but im like 99.9999% sure it wasn't haha), similarly I could jsut hit them to hold aggro, but I just opted not to lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial Totally reasonable. Mostly just curious if it's *possible* to heal enough to fight through the Demon Princes' aggression so you could reach Gael and Midir and throw Fire Fans at them.
@@DoomWolfOfficial not really haha. well it def help not make the run as painful as urs, but i certainly didnt dish as much damage as the greathammer disguised as a whip that zoey used!
haha yeah, a few people have mentioned that, wish I knew going in! Really? I wasn't able to find any definitive (item description) evidence saying male or female, so I just defaulted to female
So here’s a question - why not just get a cestus and simple infuse it both for parries and the bosses who are needlessly difficult for this pyromancy? So long as you never attack with it, it’s basically the same as having a fifth ring that just says “weapon art is changed to parry and you very slowly regen fp”
Didn't know you were a math teacher lol, the dragons prince section had more math than what I've seen in months, and happy to hear you commiting to RUclips doom, can't wait for the upcoming vids, btw, what did you work as before RUclips (i hope i am not getting too personal, if so, this question can be left unanswered)
26:36 - You got hit because you waited too long. Rolling out of prone is only possible while you still have knockdown invincibility. The fact that you took damage means it was too late to input a roll. For future reference, In Ds3 PVE, it is almost 100% safe to simply buffer a backwards roll as soon as you get knocked down. The only exception I know of to this rule is Midir's scream in phase 2, where rolling backwards gets you hit by the chasing humanity sprites. There, you roll forwards and the first few will miss around you, giving you time to react to the rest.
I've..never heard of that despite playing this games now for a living lol, I mean I have always waited to roll to time it with the enemy attacks ya know? Not saying you aren't on to something but this is the first, after 1000s of hours that i'm hearing of it haha Oh well, always able to learn something new I suppose :)
Another thing that could have helped against the demon prince is to use a simple weapon or 2 on the offhand and when you arent casting flame fan. You would still do damage exclusively with the flame fan but you would have infinite FP provided that you survive long enough
A possible solution for the mana problem against the demon prince would be weapons with the simple infusion. It sucks but it would make the fight kind of doable.
Glad you liked the video my friend :) You mean for DS3 specifically? Maybe I will! I have a couple things in mind for it but am always open to new ideas

I have three hours of sleep and I came back to my place, all sleepy.
Then I saw the notification, guess ill sleep later🙄
haha, make sure to get enough sleep, I promise the video will be here if you do!
I knew of his sorceries. I always struggle with this boss.
I guess I just beat him too fast (which is a weird problem to have haha)
20 minutes ago ?! Finna witness peak fiction 🙏💯
haha, hope you enjoyed the video my friend :)
Love your content!
Thanks my friend :)
Seeing the situation with the demon prince and such, yeah. My immediate thought was "There are two of them, and a third phase, very resistant to fire...this is no good."
Thanks for doing the math on that, though nonetheless I'm happy you skipped em, no fun in that kinda fight.
Yeah, I'm not much for the low damage style runs, especially with a limited resource so I wanted to see if it was doable
technically, and I completely forgot this existed lol, but simple infusions would give infinite FP, but that wouldn't solve the almost no damage issue haha
my goat uploaded💯💯
hope you enjoyed it :)
You can still spawn patches by getting the fire link tower key and he’ll still sell the armor to save the onion knight. Also hilarious you uploaded in the middle of my all night doom wolf binge 😂
haha yeha, that's how I got him to give me the armor, though I didn't pay for it ;)
for the demon princes, maybe you could have tried holding a simple weapon in your off-hand?
the fp regeneration means there would be no issue with FP
It would have helped, I mean, technically speaking at least haha, the problem is..I forgot simple infusions exist :P
Mostly just curious if it's *possible* to heal enough to fight through the Demon Princes' aggression so you could reach Gael and Midir and throw Fire Fans at them.
congrats on full-time!! that's a huge step!!
Thanks! :)
as someone who has done a full zoey cosplay, i can finally say thats a run i have done! semi- at least due to using the whip too
did the whip help? I mean, it's not a great weapon overall but did you enjoy using it in the run haha
@@DoomWolfOfficial not really haha. well it def help not make the run as painful as urs, but i certainly didnt dish as much damage as the greathammer disguised as a whip that zoey used!
Btw Saint Tree Bellvine does give 99 virtual Dex if offhanded. Also Crystal Sage is a guy :d
I mean it gives boost when in either hand just has to be equipped^^
haha yeah, a few people have mentioned that, wish I knew going in!
Really? I wasn't able to find any definitive (item description) evidence saying male or female, so I just defaulted to female
@@DoomWolfOfficialmaybe there’s more but I think the word sage implies male
So here’s a question - why not just get a cestus and simple infuse it both for parries and the bosses who are needlessly difficult for this pyromancy? So long as you never attack with it, it’s basically the same as having a fifth ring that just says “weapon art is changed to parry and you very slowly regen fp”
oh that's an easy answer!!
because I forgot simple infusions exist lmaooo
@@DoomWolfOfficial ah, that would do it lol
I just woke up, I really thought the video was flame pan
I'd love to set a pan on fire and smack bosses with it lol
this is my first video ive seen of you. i love this video. :)
I'm glad you liked it :)
Babe wake up, new Doom Wolf just dropped
Hope you enjoyed it :)
26:21 it's your subconscious mind learning as you sleep

This video made me a fan of your channel
I see what you did there

I am okay with this lmao

Honestly... the Xenoblade 2 Gags got me to subscribe XD
haha I'm glad :)
I forgot this set was in the game! Gotta revisit it and do a pyromancy only run ❤
do it! I love pyromancies in these games..maybe not this specific one but still haha
Awesome for you going full time, Doom! Best of luck to you.
I guess “That’ll cost ya extra” isn’t such a joke anymore…
haha don't worry, there will be no increase to price, though maybe the frequency of that joke will go up ;)
Didn't know you were a math teacher lol, the dragons prince section had more math than what I've seen in months, and happy to hear you commiting to RUclips doom, can't wait for the upcoming vids, btw, what did you work as before RUclips (i hope i am not getting too personal, if so, this question can be left unanswered)
haha I wasn't, but I do like math, at least conceptually :P
no worries my friend, I worked in IT
Doom, I have no idea if it's possible, but doing a Dark souls 3 run, but it's only the hitboxes.
could you elaborate? hha
1st of all this video is fantastic 2nd coke or fanta?
Thanks! and honestly i've been drinking FANta a lot recently, but it's not what you think, it's because its caffeine free lol
Congrats on 100k sups🎉
Thanks! :)
Another thing that could have helped against the demon prince is to use a simple weapon or 2 on the offhand and when you arent casting flame fan. You would still do damage exclusively with the flame fan but you would have infinite FP provided that you survive long enough
You are correct, I just forgot simple infusions exist lmao
Jesus that was the longest and fastest math I had ever seen in a youtube video. impressive
Thanks, I learned it from Austin of the Science/shoddy cast lol
Pyra, and gaur plains? DS3 is my favorite Xenoblade game
lmao, its a good game, Xenoblade souls
A possible solution for the mana problem against the demon prince would be weapons with the simple infusion. It sucks but it would make the fight kind of doable.
This is true! I just forgot they existed lol
11:37 We don't stare at paintings of Gwynevere...
We go and stare at the real thing. >:D
ayyyyy lol
Hey bro! New sub i love this video hahaha i love to se You doing a only fist or with ceactus the fist thing haha keep it going! Love your videos
Glad you liked the video my friend :)
You mean for DS3 specifically? Maybe I will! I have a couple things in mind for it but am always open to new ideas
@DoomWolfOfficial My inglés is terribol sorry hahaha but bro i love the video and yes!!! Please only ceactus DS3!! I really like all Your videos!!! I laugh so hard when You said " Can you get pregnant from a voice? let's find out " hahahaha bro You Made My day

More doom wolf, more smiles.
Hope you enjoyed the video my friend :)
Brooo, that fight with the dancer is a freak off 😂😂
it was, but which one of us was zoolander lol
Honestly I can't even remember the last time I got the tricked by Patches thing, not sure what it is but I still finish the quest but every time I end up doing it by just skipping that bit and finding Seigward in the well already.
haha yeah, I just didn't want to accidently mess the quest up so I was hoping to do it properly is all
It’s the wolf of doom, cool vid my guy
Glad you liked it :)
it is always fun to see that these flying tree branch dragons really attack ehen other players fight the dragonslayer armor
in my 1500 hours and over 50 runs on my main character i have never ever seen one attack of these dragons
you must take the dragonslayer armor down too fast haha
Well, this video was fan-tastic.
I see what you did there! Thanks :)
I love that it crashed so hard your monitor refused be involved without a restart
I didn't
but it was funny tho lol
Interesting, looks like a good watch.
Hope you enjoyed it my friend :)
"ball shaped ranged fan"
sounds legit, no issues here lol
tbf, anything is a fan if it moves fast enough :P
In my first playthrough Patches was there pretending to be Siegward. My latest playthrough... nope
Yeah, i've def seen him there once, but it was by accident lol
