Good job the only down side is that without the clear coat the wheels will oxidize requiering constant polishing

Use approximately 1500 to 2000 grit sandpaper on the badly oxidized spots then polish. Use a two part clear coat in a can ie Eastwoods to give them protection so you will not have to keep polishing. Might as well since you have already done the hard part. Just FYI. The wheels look great.
did you put clear coat back on after you stripped

We had wheels with lots of little bolts like that. They turned out to be plastic and only there for aesthetics.

After spraying clear coat on my wheel, why did the color change to Gold?
Maybe it wasn't two part clear coat, and its orange peel from probably to much sun during spraying. 🤔 two part clear has a mixing hardener in it when you crack the bottom open.

Doeant matter what brand. My oem bullit wheels are peeling.
My least favorite part is masking it takes so long but so worth it in the end
If you go to a hobby store they have liquid masking..You brush it on and peel it off.
Totally irrelevant to the video but I was wondering if you knew how to fix a tachometer, my 97 ex one doesn't work. I took out everything and replugged it correctly and nothin. Any suggestions
ProjectVader try a different cluster. The circuit boards in them go bad sometimes.

Yup change the cluster. Had to do that few weeks ago for my 00 EJ8. Get it off Ebay or a salvage yard. Also change the VSS sensor (optional)
Why didnt you clear coat them again after?
I was afraid it might peel again. And they looked super shiny without it. I figured I could just polish them every few months
How have the lips of the wheels kept up? Any oxidation from having no clear coat?

For anyone looking to save time masking the fake bolts or whatever, use heat shrink tubing

You can actually hammer out them fake plastic rivets from the back side, at least on my xxr’s. It takes like 1min to get them out 🤔

When do you use aircraft stripper or paint remover it cause you go down to bare metal and then you have to feather everything out. You're better off just using some 120 grit or 180 grit sandpaper and set her out to eat surfaces and then put primer and then repaint. Using aircraft stripper just makes the job much more harder and less the entire wheel has the clear coat coming off in so many spots that it's too much the sand
Which product would you advice to repaint that chrome finish after primer?
@@Fafayega if you're talking paint I like Matrix or PPG Chromobase. Really depends on your budget
No gloves, no ventilation, in a garage, no sanding... seems legit.

Wheels with 2 bolt patterns should of been a dead giveaway that these were not quality made wheels.

Nope. As long as you polish them every few months it doesnt need it

It was probably a tinted clear coat. Or the color of your rims were slightly gold and the clear coat just brings out the color more.
